“Penny. It’s so good to see you. Listen, I’m… I’m uh, so sorry for barging in unannounced, but I… I really needed to talk to you.” My best friend of ten years whispered softly, a contrite look on her face as she fidgeted under my gaze.
I stood there, frozen in shock, the myriad of emotions coursing through me sending my mind to a momentary sleep and halting all thought processes.
The nerve of this girl to show up here after everything she had done to me.
Anger was the first emotion to break through the freeze, and when it did, I tell you, I completely went off on her. “You seriously have some nerve showing up here, Kira.” I said, the coldness in my tone frightening even me for a moment. “What more do you want? To throw it in my face that you f****d my husband once again?”
