“Can you stay for the night? Please?”
It was a whisper but the words resonated more than they were intended to. It was a second too late when I realized that the words could be misunderstood by Jace.
Stuttering, I tried to explain myself to Jace while he recovered from the shock. He gave me a naughty grin then a hearty laugh.
“I - I mean to hang out. No more than that. Like what we used to do, watch movies, you know. And we have ice cream to share, right?”
“You’re so adorable, my angel. Come on.” He grabbed me by the shoulder and we proceeded to the kitchen to prepare our snack for the night.
