Chapter 10 Another month passed. I kept the stupid job, but every day I told myself it would be my last, and that’s how I got through July—working, writing in the evenings, spending time with Elsie and Fay, calling up some old friends, trying to rekindle faded friendships. Everyone had settled down; even David and Kaliq were quiet. We weren’t seeing much of each other since I’d stopped clubbing on Saturday nights. Dayton and Elsie had begun planning their wedding. I had a feeling they’d be tying the knot the next year. We hadn’t talked about what would happen after that. Would Dayton move Fay and Elsie in with him, or would they move upstairs?
