Chapter 4 We’d gathered in the very church where Elsie and I had been baptized thirty years ago. I sat in the front row with my aunt Viv and her new husband. Vassilios sat by me, fumbling with the prayer booklet. “Do you have a mint or something?” he asked, stuffing the booklet back in its proper place. I gave him a Tic-Tac and looked around the church. It was a beautiful little Gothic church in the Polish district.
