[Chapter 2: Planet Allea] •>>———∘◦❁◦∘———(Elora / Brianna) I looked left and right to see if there were any guards around but thankfully there wasn't, so I tiptoed my way towards the place I only navigated using this new memory of mine. I can't believe I'm doing this!! Sneaking around the palace even when the doctor strictly told me to not move around for a week. But I just can't have that!!! Its so boring, and the not-dying plan I had was already perfected and detailed in the three days I waited for the doctor to come back to tell me I was already good to go. But he didn't! Instead he came back yesterday, exactly the date he told me he'd come back, and said that I should rest for one more week!! WHY SO LONG?!! Its not like I'm dying!! For all I know, its not even internally bleeding. And it could be just a simple migraine!! Uggh!! But from what the maids have told me in the past few days, I– I mean Elora, had been in a coma for the entire month. I asked them about it and said I didn't remember, because even if I got Elora's memories, I didn't remember anything before Elora's coma. I was cut out if my musings when I saw the familiar looking door. It was a double door that was made out of mahogany. It had beautiful carvings engraved on it intricately going into different loops and shapes. I stopped admiring the door and walked towards it as I pushed it open hoping no one would be inside, and its as if the God answered my prayer this time and there really wasn't anyone inside. YEESS!! Oh how long was I walking around barefooted only to keep going back in circles just to find this god forsaken library!! I looked one last time outside to see if anyone saw me sneaking in, when I really made sure that there was no one, I quickly went inside and shut the door. I looked around and smiled. The smell of books.. oh how I missed going to the library. Ever since I graduated I hadn't been able to go to a library like this. It just slipped off my mind I guess. Well there's a library on our office, but that doesn't count since it doesn't smell like books since the smell of air-condition and office scent was more prominent. And I rarely ever go there since, like what I said, it kept slipping off my mind. But now, things are different! The library is key to my survival, or more specifically – books. If I want to avoid all death flags, I first need knowledge about this world! Not only do I need to learn how to blend in, I would also need to learn proper manners and etiquettes to do just that. And that's the problem. Elora is so proper and ladylike, of course due to being born into the royal family. While I'm... well not only do I act like I'm one of the boys, but I've lived in the slums for basically half of my family. I'm quiet fortunate that the maids are bringing my food to my room so I can eat freely however I want without the judging eyes around me. I didn't bothered caring about the different types of sizes of spoons, and knives, or the dishes that I'm sure I'm not supposed to be mixing. But my main plan on avoiding my death is slowly but surely become a background character. And in order to blend in, I need to cultivate knowledge within a week!! With that thought in mind, I went closer to the bookshelves with my heels in hand as I walked around barefooted. I didn't bother putting it on since it felt like shackles on my feet. It was so uncomfortable that I kept tripping, and the pointed part always kept making clicking noises. I rolled my eyes at the thought and took three books out. One that's called "The Four Kingdoms and their Economical Differences", the other one was "Etiquettes and Manners: How to be a Proper Lady", while the other one was... "Basics of Magic"?! Well the last one was certainly unexpected.... But then again, I've transported into another world and that's magic enough so I shouldn't really be surprised at this point! I guess this is enough books for now. Taking more than that is unnecessary since I'm only gonna be learning these essential stuffs within a week's time. I could learn the other extra stuff once I've mastered this so I shouldn't be pushing myself too hard. Clutching the books, I went towards the sofa and plopped on it. I placed the heels beside the sofa and raised both my feet up the table in front. Thank goodness there wasn't anyone in here. Because it would be an ugly sight to see a girl in this era in this position of mine. What more of a princess for that matter! Well.. I'm not the real princess so I shrugged it off now while no one was around. Even though I can't, I should try my best to act like the princess. Since I am in her body now after all... Wait... ... .... ..... If I'm in her body, then where is she? I started spacing out as I thought deeply about where she might be. Did we switch places? Is she in my body right now??? But aren't I dead?? Or did someone save me after all? I then shook my head and took the Economical book and opened it. I shouldn't be thinking about that now. I'm only wasting time while thinking about something I know I don't have the answer to. I'll worry about it later... ∘◦❁◦∘ I plopped on the bed tiredly as I felt my whole body aching. My head was starting to hurt and my feet ached by the amount of walking I had done. Even though I already found my way there, I still had a hard time getting back. Just thinking about me walking around this big a*s palace as a means of transportation scares me to no end! But there are much more pressing matters than that as my thoughts remembered the things I read earlier. I looked back at the three books stacked on my bedside table. And yes! I brought it with me. Wait.. Thinking about it now, I could've asked the maids to get the books instead. But then again.. they wouldn't know what books I'd want. And they might get suspicious if I ask them to get me a book about etiquette so I guess this is alright... I got up from the bed and took some reed pen as well as parchment papers to write on. I laid down, back facing the ceiling, and prepared to write the summary of the things I have read. The planet Allea.... I didn't understand the first few parts of what I've read at first because they were using foreign words, but I eventually figured that I'm not in the planet Earth anymore. I mean, I guess I still am, just not the same name. There are four kingdoms in planet Allea: the kingdom of Sequoia, the kingdom of Aeanthra; the kingdom of Zinnia, and the kingdom of Orion. The kingdom of Sequoia is the strongest due to its vast knowledge in magic. Next is the kingdom of Aeanthra, they may not have the vastness of knowledge when it comes to magic but their living is advanced; very much like Earth. They don't have cars, but they do have electricities, lightbulbs and trains. The Kingdom of Zinnia is a kind and humble place... While Orion.. well, there's a reason why they're in the last place. And that's because their rulership is bad. There's tons of fighting and crimes, and almost everyone speaks with their fist. I don't know how they became a kingdom but I couldn't care less! According to what I've read, people residing in planet Allea are called Alleans. And there are three species aside from the animals and magical beasts in here: The biggest population are the humans, obviously; the second is demi-humans, basically humans but with animal characteristics; and the third are the beasts. Beasts are the strongest among the other two species but they are looked down upon due to their inhumane strength and powers. On earlier times, they are taken in behind bars because many people thought that they'll reek havoc and cause chaos and destruction. But that soon changed due to the Sequoia kingdom. They changed that system and soon after the Aeanthra kingdom implemented it on their system as well. But even after that, they still are looked down upon; even if years had already passed. I pity them. Just because they're different doesn't mean they should be looked down upon. I wonder how they feel... "Princess Elora..." I heard someone knock so I quickly slipped the paper and pen under my pillow and rearranged myself on the bed. In a matter of seconds, I was already laying down with my back against the mattress. I looked towards the window and my eyes widens when I saw the sky was dark already. How long have I been writing?! I shook it off and decided to focus on the person outside my door instead. "Uhmm.. come in." I awkwardly said. I'm still not used of maids coming in my room to prepare my food. It feels so foreign that someone would have the heart and time to prepare breakfast for me. It feels nice though... But it'll feel more nicer when someone prepares you food because they care about you – I haven't experienced that... must be nice. The door opened and a maid came in with the rolling thingy where you place foods in earlier times. She set up a collapsible table on my bed in front of me and placed the food down. I noticed that she wasn't the usual maid who brings me food. Well, I guess Ruby had chores to take care of... Me and Ruby had been close due to her being friendly. She's the personal maid of Elora and a very nice one at that. She's the only one who tries to understand princess Elora's negative traits saying she didn't have a mother to reprimand her, and his father only ever spoiled her, while her two older brothers hates her. I could say that Ruby is a mother figure for Elora. Its sad reading her part on the book since it told how devastated she was when Elora died. It said that she didn't eat for days and eventually committed suicide. I can kinda get why she had done it and why she's so caring towards Elora. Its because she had a daughter who died on the age of 5 and as soon as she saw young Elora back then for the first time, she vowed to protect her with all her life. The maid was about to leave but stopped when I said something that made her eyes pop out of her sockets — not literally. "Thank you." I mumbled and her reaction made me furrow my brows in confusion for a few seconds. She literally turned around to stare at me wide-eyed as if what I said was something she'd never expect to hear from me. Then a realization hit me... Elora NEVER says thank you. Literally words of appreciation! She'll either say 'leave' or nod her head in acknowledgement. I've been too comfortable around Ruby that I forgot that this wasn't the same maid anymore!! "Princess Elora, are you feeling alright?? Do you want me to call a doctor?" She asked and my eyes widens. Doctor?! Then what? He's gonna tell me to rest for two weeks?? Oh heck no! "N-no! I-I'm fine. Just l-leave!" I said but I broke out of character when I stuttered. Uggh!! "Er.. if you say so m'lady." She curtsied and finally went out with the rolling platter in hand. I sighed in relief and exasperation. I really gotta keep my emotions in check. Ugghhhh!!!! I stopped my aggravating when I smelled the food in front of me and I felt as if I was drooling all of a sudden. I guess one of the good things of me transporting as a princess is I get to try lots of different and new foods I haven't tried on my past life yet!! Imagine having to eat fish everyday!!! This is literally heaven for me!! Let's eat for now! I'll worry about my survival later hehe... >> • <<
