[Chapter 5: Goodbyes] •>>———∘◦❁◦∘———(3rd Person's POV) Two weeks passed by in a blur and the atmosphere around the palace had changed and spread like wildfire. You could say it had gotten more lively with Elora's constant greeting, constant babbling, her change of attitude which 'isn't fit for a princess', and Elora and Alistair's constant bickering and fighting. Within those two weeks, Elora had asked Alistair to join in on his sword training. He was shocked at first but he soon agreed due to Elora's flowery words. ===Flashback=== It was two days after the whole massaging scene when Elora went inside Alistair's room without knocking. She found Alistair in the same position as last time and she couldn't help but laugh. Only this time, Alistair was in his training suit and is using the sword Elora had bought him. "W-wha-what are you doing here?!!" He exclaimed getting the sword he dropped on the floor caused by shock when Elora came in. "Oh—" "And would you please knock?!" Alistair glared but Elora only rolled her eyes. "Okay I'm sorry. But, anyways! I need to ask a favor." She said which made Alistair raise his brows. "What... favor..?" He asked suspiciously. "Uhm..." Elora started fidgeting her fingers, she didn't know how to put it in a way Alistair would agree. She want him to agree because the favor she'd ask is also beneficial for her future. "What is it?" "Well.. I would like to ask you to train me." "Train..?" "You know.. sword training? Just like what you do everyday on the training field." Elora explained and both Alistair's brows shot up. "But I don't think that would suit you. No princess—" "But brother!! Would you really be okay with me being vulnerable at school?! What if I get bullied there!! I have no knowledge to protect myself nor do I have magic!!!!" Elora whined, which is very much unlike her. Well, the original Elora to be exact. "No problem then cause I'd be the one to protect you!!" Alistair grinned and held his head high in a boasting manner. "But brother!!" "No buts!" He said, turning his back as he walked away. "But I want to be just like you brother!" Elora said making Alistair stop in his tracks. "Your so cool and strong and I know that you're not lying when you said you're gonna protect me, but you're not always gonna be around me you know?!!" "Besides... I wanted to boast my skills to people once I've learned it, and say that it was my amazingly super handsome and awesome brother that taught me!!" Alistair turned around with wide eyes and when he saw Elora's almost crying face, his knees almost melted. "Uh.. uhmm. Don't cry!" He suddenly rushed to Elora's side and Elora wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes that were threatening to spill. "Uhmm.. I'll think about it...." He turned around again when he felt his blush rising. 'Yes! Right to my trap!! Ohh! I so love using Elora's face to my advantage...! hehe.' Elora thought with a huge grin plastered on her face. Alistair replayed Elora's words over and over again in his head. He wanted his little sister to look up to him, at the same time he wanted to be famous. So what Elora had said was like hitting two birds with one stone! So with his mind made up, he turned back to Elora and Elora quickly wiped her grin off of her face and replaced it with a sad blue-hearted look. "Ehem.. err... okay. I guess you can come by to my training session if you want..." Alistair said while scratching the back of his neck with a shy blush on his cheeks. He wasn't used to being all mushy and loving after all. But of course, things had change. He was far too gone now with Brianna in his life. 'Oh how cute!!' Elora stopped herself from pinching the cheeks of her brother. Despite their age difference in this world, she still thought of him as a child. "Thanks brother!!" Elora jumped to hug Alistair, slightly startling him, but he soon hugged her back with a contented smile on his face. Elora had the same smile on her face until she broke the hug and bid her brother goodbye. === And just like that, Elora trained on the remaining days before going to Arcane Academy. She exercised on her room at the c***k of dawn, joined Alistair on sword training once sun had fully risen, spent time with her family, greeted and talked to all the other workers and maids in the castle, and read books before going to sleep.  She was starting to get comfortable with her surroundings in the palace but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. For at least the entire school year anyway. "Waaaaahhh!!! I'm gonna miss you dad!!" Elora cried and hugged her father while the king tried desperately to console her by rubbing her back. "Its gonna be fine my daughter. If you'd like, you can always send me letter and tell me whenever you want to visit the kingdom. I'll do something about it so you can come visit us anytime!" The King told Elora and she nodded while wiping the tears and snot that had formed on her face. Alistair who was looking at the scene, looked at her sister with disgust in his face. "Okay papa..." She nodded and turned to Alistair with furrowed brows when she noticed how Alistair's face was twisted in disgust. She grinned evilly and ran towards her brother to rub the snot filled hand on her brother's outfit. Alistair's eyes widened but it was too late when the sticky substance was already on his blazer and Elora was laughing loudly while pointing at Alistair's arm. "THAT IS DISGUSTINGLY VILE YOU WICKED WOMAN!!!" Alistair shouted, his deep voice booming on the front gates. Elora pouted and placed both of her hands behind her back. "But would you really call this face vile and wicked..?" Elora pouted cutely making the maids and knights awe at her but Alistair only rolled his eyes while removing his blazer. Although deep down he found that face cute, but he's not gonna say that out loud though! Elora somehow noticing this, due to how the corner of his ears turned pink, chuckled. "Don't race your voice at your sister Alistair." Thaddeus said sternly making Alistair bow his head in shame. "Yes, I'm sorry father." "Oh shush papa! Don't scold him. It was my fault anyways, I was teasing him!!" She slapped her father's arm lightly making the maids and knights' hearts race in fear. "Of course. You're right, my apologies." The King chuckled making the maids and knights widen their eyes in shock. Not only did he take what Elora had said seriously, he also chuckled!! 'Well, I guess its no surprise the King would act that way. He had been doing that for the last two weeks after all... but still! I can't get used to it!!' Everybody thought. "Sorry brother Ali!" Elora hugged her brother making the maids and knights awe at the sight. "Okay, sure, yeah! I guess its... fine...." Alistair trailed off with crimson red cheeks due to embarrassment from the loving and awestruck faces everyone was giving them. "Ehem." The King coughed so Elora pulled away. "Oh that's right! Let's go now!!" She dragged her brother behind but then stopped when she saw something out of the ordinary. 'Why is there only one carriage? Shouldn't there be two just like in the story? One for Alistair and one for Elora? Alistair didn't want to be in the same room as his sister after all.' Elora thought in confusion. "Why is there only one carriage?" She said out loud with furrowed brows. "Why? You have a problem with that?" Alistair spoke beside her with a cold tone. He thought that Elora didn't want to be in the same carriage as him, because of the way she asked the question. 'Oh, I get it now!! Things really have changed after all, huh...' She thought with an ever forming grin spreading on her face. Before Elora had come out of the palace, Arthur was already out and noticed the two sets of carriage waiting for them. He ordered one of the drivers to put one of the carriage back and when the driver asked him the reason why, he simply answered, "It's a hassle bringing two carriages ain't it??" He replied casually when in reality, he really just wanted to be in the same carriage as his sister. "Of course I have no problem with that!!" She said with a beaming smile directed towards Alistair. "Well... I guess this is goodbye. For now at least.." She said looking at her father and all the other maids and knights that were there to bid them farewell. There was someone she wanted to see one last time though. And that is her oldest brother, Arthur Wayne. In the past two weeks it seemed to her that her brother hasn't changed in the least slightest every time she tried getting his attention and winning his heart. He still remained cold and distant towards her unlike Alistair and the King. She wanted all of her family there but alas, Arthur didn't come. Little did she know though, was that Arthur was in his bedroom staring at the scene with furrowed brows. His bedroom had the full view of the front yard after all. She turned her direction towards Grayson Hans, part of the knights specializing in guarding the castle. Although Grayson was in a very young age of 20, he was still made the commander of the force. He was also the one who thought Alistair in sword training and the one who helped teach Elora as well. "Grayson. Thank you, for all the help and the things you thought me. You'd be saving me in the future so I owe you one!" Elora winked and giggled at Grayson's red face. Just as she said that, Desmond, Arthur's butler came and asked for Grayson. 'Hmm... I wonder why?' Elora waved at Grayson and he only smiled, bowing his head before turning away to follow Desmond. "Heyy! What about me? I was the one who mainly thought you!!" She chuckled at Alistair and turned towards him to link her arms with him. "Of course brother! That's why I'll forever be indebted to you." Elora beamed and Alistair couldn't help but smile wide. They went towards the carriage, Elora's maid and Alistair's butler in tow. Once they were situated on the seats she looked outside the window and waved to everyone with a smile that reached her ears. "Goodbye everyone!!! I won't forget to give you all gifts and souvenirs!!!" She yelled rather loudly as if they couldn't hear her. If it was any other, they'd be looking at her with dismayed faces right now due to how she wasn't acting like a proper princess. But these people weren't any other. These were the people that Elora gave a huge impact to. They were used to how she was acting and would much rather prefer her than her old fake and two-faced self. "Oh, you don't need to worry about that princess!" Susan exclaimed but Elora only waved her hand to dismiss her. "Oh, its no bother to me at all!!" She said, gasping when the carriage started moving. 'As per usual... Elora's so kind!!' Everyone thought in awe. "BYE EVERYONE!!!" Elora yelled, waving her hands as she stuck half her body out the window while her brother tried pulling her in. She finally gave in to her brother's strength and was pulled back inside the carriage. 'I'm gonna miss them for sure. But I can't say I'm not excited to this new school!' Elora thought with a wide smile on her face. 'And of course for all of the pretty ladies there.. hehehe...' She thought with a sly grin. "What's with that look?? Stop that! You look like a creepy pervert." Alistair said, his face twisted in disgust. "But you love me anyway!" Elora quickly latched onto Alistair's arm and rubbed her head on it. "Get off!" Alistair yanked his hand away but Elora kept clutching back on it. Ruby and Cedric, Alistair's butler, only looked at the two in awe. 'Master really has changed drastically.' Cedric thought, thinking back to how Alistair treated Elora back in the past. The young prince's change was prominent when it comes to Cedric. Of course having to assist him and serve him ever since his childhood days, nothing is unnoticed to him when it comes to Alistair. But Elora, who only sees his brother's constant childish taunting, never thought of it as a big change when in reality; her brother had already formed a huge brotherly love when it comes to her. She just couldn't see it. The rest of the ride continued on with both Alistair and Elora being noisy throughout the entire ride, having to constantly find and argue about different things, and even making an argument to the things they see outside. Ruby, Cedric, the driver, and the guards with them didn't find this annoying at all; instead, they found it funny and lighthearted. For them, it was much more better than being all quite and rigid. It would've been; if it wasn't for Brianna being in Elora's body. But of course they don't know that ;) Eventually, their dispute died down in the middle of the ride and was now replaced with silence. Not uncomfortable or awkward though; just serene comfortable silence. Elora's eyes fluttered slowly with her head bobbing up and down as drowsiness slowly started to consume her. She hasn't been able to sleep that well in the past few days after all. She wanted to finish the basics of everything, or as she would like to call it: 'The Starter Pack', before going to school. Not only that, she wakes up early in the morning to start her sword training, and hasn't gotten sleepy at all during afternoons due to her excitement of the fact that going to Arcane Academy has been drawing ever so closely. Within those days of waiting, she found the pros of her going to Arcane Academy. Number one is how she's gonna be in a 'MAGIC' school, something she never even thought of attending in her past life let alone have it cross her mind that there'd be such a thing like that; next is how she'd be able to see and watch those things up close, having no magic didn't bother her at all but it got her riled up just thinking how she'd be able to watch magic just like in the movies but instead in front of the screen, its in reality; next is how she'd be able to see all the pretty girls in school, 'Everyone here is exceptionally pretty after all.' Is what she always thought; and a lot more positive reasons.  So instead of dreading the fact that she's gonna be closer to her future murderers, she found positive points in it as well. Lots and lots. She almost dived straight into the ground when sleep got the best of her but thankfully, Cedric swiftly caught her head. She mumbled a silent thank you and leaned back on the soft cushioned chair more comfortably. She then eventually found comfort in Alistair's shoulder as she drifted out of consciousness. Alistair, who was resting his eyes the whole time, opened it and was about to swat Elora away when he saw that Elora was sleeping. He caught the two adults staring so he coughed and proceeded on closing back his eyes while crossing both his arms. Ruby and Cedric both looked at each other slyly with a wide grin on each other's faces. 'Oh, the young prince is so cute!' -Ruby 'I never knew I'd be able to use this word on the prince but.. how adorable....' -Cedric ∘◦❁◦∘ Elora stretched both her arms with a long and loud yawn escaping her lips. "That was such a good sleep!!" She turned to her brother only to notice that there was a dark spot on the shoulder of his blouse. Her eyes widened when she realized that she may have slept on Alistair's shoulder and may or may not have spilled drool on it. "Uh oh..." She mumbled but then screeched when Alistair started opening his eyes. "Huh? We're here already..?" He said with one hand on the window curtain to keep it open. "What? What are you staring at?" Elora quickly teared her eyes away from Alistair's shoulder and looked at his face instead. "Uhm.. hehe, nothing. I was just wondering what kind of prince are you to sleep that way." She lied. Hopefully he doesn't notice nor feel that wet spot on his shoulder... "That way?" Alistair pressed. "With an ugly face on. Your eyes were half-open, your nose enlarges as you breathed in and out, while your mouth was parted; it was an ugly sight to see." She shrugged half-mindlessly. But she knew for herself that it was a lie though, she won't say it out loud but her brother was really handsome with how he looked so peaceful, kind, and innocent in the way he sleeps. 'But of course he was far from that when wide awake though.' She has no problem saying that but she didn't want to feed her brother's pride and ego so she simply kept her mouth shut. "Oh yeah?! Well, I'll let you know as well that you looked just as ugly as I am!! If not, then even more!!!" Alistair said obviously pissed at how his little sister called him ugly. But he didn't want to admit that his sister looked like an angel while sleeping though. "Eh." Elora did not nothing but shrug and walking out. She could care less on how she looked like. It was a bother to fix yourself for other people's pleasure. 'And besides, with Elora's face, I don't think I even have to add anything. She has everything! I could definitely pull some girls with this look.' Is what she thought. "WOOOOWWWWWW!!!!" She yells loudly in astonishment as she admired the front of the Academy. Trees were neatly lined up all around the lawn, flowers and bushes alike spread throughout the entire field, wide marbled path traced up towards the main building of the Academy, and you can even see some other buildings peeking out from the side as well. It was an astonishing sight to see. It looked ethereal, as if it were taken out of a fantasy book. The school buildings itself looked amazing standing with all its glory and everything was just breathtaking. "Oh, the princess is awake." Ruby said as she managed all of Elora's luggage. "SHHH! YOU'RE TOO LOUD!!" Alistair came out behind Elora. "As well as the prince." Cedric mumbled while gathering all of Alistair's luggage. "But you're just as loud as I am!" Elora muttered with an eye-roll, earning a smack on the head from Alistair. Elora only pouted with crossed-arms as she stomped away. "You're so mean brother!!" She said with a pitiful face, her eyes glossed as if she were seconds away from crying; her pity card. Alistair stuttered with flailing arms as he didn't know how to console his little sister unlike what his father does. "Uh.. wh- I-I'm sorry!" He exclaimed earning a silent chuckle from Ruby and a grin from Cedric. "Hmph!" Elora turned her head away, with her arms still crossed. Alistair couldn't do anything but bow his head in shame, but after a few seconds Elora peeked towards his brother and grinned mentally. "Are you really that sorry though...?" Elora asked with fake suspicion, with both her hands on either side of her hips. "Uh-uhm-- yes!" Alistair said while covering his face. It was only Elora that could get him like this; all red and embarrassed. Of course, he still wasn't used to being mushy and doting; but he was getting there! "Hmmm.... I won't forgive you--" Alistair removed his hands away from his face as he stared at Elora with wide-eyes. 'Is she really serious about this?! For something as small and trivial as a smack on the head?' "--except on one condition!" Alistair breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Elora with raised brows. "What? What is it?" He asked and so Elora thought of ways that would definitely be a bother for her brother. She liked teasing him just as much as Alistair liked teasing him; I guess great minds think alike huh? She stretched her pointer finger upward when an idea came to mind. "I'll forgive you! If you carry me ALL THE WAY to my dorm!!" Elora grinned but Alistair only looked at him in bewilderment. "Are you actually serious about this?!!!" "Hm hmm~" She hummed. "Uggh, god!!" Alistair groaned, washing his face with his hands. "I won't forgive you until you let me have that piggyback-ride!" Elora huffed with crossed-arms. "How would I know that you'd forgive me then?" Alistair asked as a means to prolong the conversation. "Oh, you'll know!" "Fiiiiiiine!!" Alistair trailed off in defeat as he cascaded down on one knee and Elora smiled triumphantly at her brother's forced agreement. 'Hehe.. how gullible.' She hopped on Alistair's back earning a groan from him. She fixed herself more comfortably until Alistair took hold of underneath her legs to finally lift her. 'She's... surprisingly light.' Alistair thought with a blush. He was embarrassed of all the people looking at them. It was a rare sight to see a woman with a dress having a piggyback ride after all. It was a good thing that people don't know the faces of the prince and princess since they haven't once stepped foot on Arcane Academy let alone the Sequoia kingdom. They were supposed to be greeted once stepping foot in Arcane Academy though, to let everyone know of the neighboring kingdom's royalty's arrival. There was suppose to be a red carpet, decorations, and trumpets that would be prepared by the principal; at least that's what happened in the story. Knowing this, Brianna insisted on not having that since she wanted to keep a low profile. Alistair wanted those greetings because he wanted the attention and the feeling of superiority because of his status but he just couldn't turn down Elora's puppy eyes, so he succumbed to her cuteness and agreed with a blush-filled face. "How barbaric!" "What an embarrassing sight." "Oh, it hurts my eyes!!" "How impudent for a lady like her!" Everyone was whispering rather loudly as they walked along the halls of the girls' dormitory building. Alistair wanted nothing more than to shut those girls up since they were being really rude to a prince like him. But as much as he wanted to, he couldn't really do anything since Elora was on his back. He was getting more and more embarrassed as everyone's eyes was blatantly staring at them. But Elora thought completely different though. 'Oh my gosh! Its not like we're having a PDA! God, these people are so dramatic!!' Elora thought with a frown etched upon her face. Despite understanding the traditional differences between her past life and her new life, she still couldn't completely grasp it and imply it on her self. She was so used to many different things for a long, long time and having to change it all in a short amount of time is a really difficult thing to do. Because as they say, old habits die hard so she's not gonna be changing any time soon. "Don't bother them brother Ali. Sideline bitches don't matter, forget them!" Alistair's eyes grew wide because Elora cursed but the latter did nothing but grin widely. Despite her foul word, the attention diversion worked on Alistair since he stopped focusing on other people's remarks and instead dwelled on what Elora had said. 'She's right. I guess I'll handle them in the future.' Alistair smirked as he held his head high from being downcast. 'I'll see how they'll act once they know I'm a prince by then. Hmph.' He thought, throwing dark looks towards people staring at them. "Oh, look! We're here!" Elora pointed at room 8706. "Can I drop you off now or do we still have to go inside?" Alistair asked in exasperation. "Nope. Here is fine." And with that, Alistair lowered on one knee and Elora got off. He stood up straight and stretched his back with a disgruntled grunt. As soon as he stood back up straight again he was taken by surprise when Elora had kissed him on his cheek. He stared wide-eyed at Elora's grinning face. "I forgive you now brother!" She said followed by a hug. All too soon, it ended quickly and she got inside followed by Ruby who bowed at him first. "So, young master, are you ready to head to your dormitory building now?" Cedric said after a few seconds and Alistair broke out of his trance to cough and nod at his butler. 'What a child.' Cedric though while chuckling inwardly as he stared at Alistair's reddened ears. >> • <<
