[Chapter 10: Female lead]
•>>———∘◦❁◦∘———(3rd Person's POV)
A week has passed and the intermission had finally ended. It was now officially the start of the school year.
The hallways were busy with buzzing students, ready to start their day. Some were already wearing their uniforms while heading to their respective classes. Others were still dillydallying, some stood idle, others are just about to wake up, while others were still preparing. Elora belonged to the last group as she packed her belongings on one fancy satchel that was gifted to her by Antonella.
Just remembering that day brought a smile on her face.
It was three days ago. They were leisurely walking outside together, strolling around anywhere, and exploring the Academy.
During one whole week, they've been stuck together like glue. Occasionally, Vandryk would join them and Elora finally found a way to let the fact that Vandryk would be her future tormentor go.
She kept reminding herself that she wasn't the old Elora anymore and her supposed cruel fate wouldn't be happening. She won't take a chance and bully the female lead! Dying by a hole in the stomach is already painful enough! Dying slowly from pain is way worse than that!!
Antonella stopped by her room to get something. She came out a few minutes later with a leather satchel in hand. The side of it was adorned by a thick and dark colored leather, its stitches were heavy duty and the main base was a light colored leather. It had a pocket in front and the style of it reminded Elora of the vintage bags in her past life.
"Oh.. uhm.. are you giving this to me..?" She looked up at that time to see a mirthful looking Antonella. She bobbed her head up and down and Elora couldn't help the smile that came upon her face.
"Thank you! This is very nice!!" Elora said, taking the handle and placing it on her shoulder. As she was admiring the leather satchel, Antonella said something that made her look up with wide eyes.
"I actually made it.." When she looked up, she saw Antonella clasping both her hands behind her back, her face was red as she twisted herself from side to side.
"R-really?!!" Antonella only nodded her head shyly.
That's when Elora remembered the reason Alistair admired her. She loved giving gifts to her friends, and those gifts were handmade. Alistair thought nothing of it at first, thinking it was just a friendly gift but then he happen to come upon Antonella who was making them and had a crush at her for her talent from then on.
'What is this?! Why am I forgetting these details?!!!' She thought with ire.
After Antonella gave her that lovely gift, Elora promised she'd return the gesture as well to which Antonella refused saying it'd make it seem like she's owing her something. Soon, Antonella agreed when Elora said that its not a favor but an exchange.
She doesn't know what to give her yet though.
Elora snapped out of her stupor when she realized that she needed to get to class, so with one last look at the mirror, she pronounced herself ready and finally got out of the room.
Her dress hugged her curvy body perfectly, and her platinum blonde hair that was tied up in a ponytail accentuated her pale face and soft purple droopy eyes. She looked stunning as she walked elegantly to class.
She had made a mental note to herself to slowly get accustomed to the Academy's rules. On her 4th day at the Academy, the next day after Antonella gave her the satchel, she went to the student council committee room and asked if they had a rule book. Alfonse had teased her and made rude remarks but she resisted the urge to snap back and just gave him an unctuous smile.
It was the president who gave her the book. He reached out to give her the book but as soon as Elora was holding it, he didn't let go that easily as he stared at her, blatantly examining her.
Elora was gripping it as she tried pulling it away but when her efforts were to no avail, she looked up only to meet Elijah face to face.
She raised one eyebrow up in a sassy manner and Elijah finally let go after a few seconds. Before leaving, she rolled her eyes at Elijah who only seemed amused than pissed.
She read all the rules, not missing a single one, and she agreed to follow the simplest ones like 'no running', 'no shouting' etc etc.
An hour ago, before any of these had even happened, a carriage from the Zinnia Kingdom arrived in front of the Academy's gates. Those who were already up and are roaming around the front yard looked at the carriage with a sardonic look on their faces.
Zinnia is known for not having vast knowledge on magic, so of course people would react that way. They were all shocked to see who came out though.
As soon as the carriage door were opened, a girl with baby doll face greeted them, she had light brown hair that was put up in a two sectioned braid, and her light makeup accentuated her pale face and black onyx eyes.
She was very pretty to say the least, and they couldn't help but feel guilty with the sardonic looks they threw earlier.
"M'lady, let me carry your luggages." The servant offered when she took the two big luggages on her own.
"Oh! Its fine, they are stroller bags after all! I can't bother you with these simple things as pulling a bag!!" Her sweet voice echoed in the vast space and the servant couldn't stop the blush that formed on his face.
"It's okay m'lady! This loyal servant of yours is strong and doesn't mind helping you at all!" The servant said as he patted his chest with clenched fist.
The girl smiled at him sweetly.
"Well if you insist.. I wouldn't want to troubled you though..." She hesitantly stepped away from the luggage with a reluctant smile on her face.
"It's fine m'lady! Let me handle this!" He puffed his chest out and took the stroller bag, lightly stumbling by the heavy baggage. He soon caught his footing and covered his slight failure with a smile.
'Whoah, how heavy! Even though this is a stroller bag, by how heavy this is, I feel like the handles are gonna break!!' He thought but quickly shrugged it off as he focused on the matter at hand.
"Thanks Jeff!" She smiled widely as she skipped along her way.
They walked towards the dormitory building until they stopped in front of the girl's room.
She thanked the servant and finally sent him away.
There wasn't much people around since it was still 2 and a half hours before classes starts. Most of them were still asleep while some just lingered around the halls. Of course, those who were up and awake couldn't help but stare at her in jealousy, mostly the girls. The guys stared at her in admiration though, but she paid them no mind.
It was always like this, so she was kinda used to it already. There's no use worrying about something you wouldn't be able to change. Ever since she was little, although an orphan, she was an eye-catch for everyone.
"Oof!" She muttered when she bumped into a large wall, upon turning the corner, making her fall to the ground.
She planned on exploring the school on the remaining time she has left, since she didn't get the chance to enter the Academy on its one week intermission due to problems at home.
"Sorry, are you okay?" She looked up to see a tall and handsome man with black hair and dull blue eyes. She blushed when she realized that it wasn't a wall that she bumped into, it was a chest. A very broad chest.
'Gosh! How long does this guy exercise..?' She thought while mentally fanning herself.
"Oh.. I'm okay...." She muttered and took the hand that was stretched towards her.
The guy pulled her up and she dusted the dust off of her dress.
"Very well then." The guy nodded and was about to walk away when he held his arm to stop him.
"Wait." She said. The guy turned around and looked at the hand that was holding him. She immediately let go and clasped both her hands behind her back.
'Was it only me or did he seem pissed by that..?'
"Uhm.. I was just wondering where can I ask for assistance here? You see, I'm new here but I didn't get to enter on the one week intermission due to problems at home. And I was just wondering if I can tour around this place while class hasn't started yet." She said while looking down. She somehow felt intimidated at the guy's derogatory look.
She peeked through her lashes to see the guy looking at his wristwatch.
"I guess I have some time to spare. Let's go, I'll show you around." He said and started walking. Her eyes twinkled at that and she rushed towards the guy's side.
"Uhm.. thank you...." She murmured.
The guy started showing her around the place. From all the different levels and rooms, to the different clubs and faculties. The dormitory building was conjoined with the main building and so they walked their way there with ease.
People were staring at them as they walked. They knew who the guy was but it was their first time to see him with the girl. They both looked good, with the guy looking handsome with his prominent jaw and strikingly handsome face, while the girl looking unsettlingly pretty with her soft and feminine features.
Girl 1, "Oh! Angels are walking by! They're too shiny!!!" Some girl whispered to her friend.
Girl 2, "Oh! I'm so jealous!!" Her friend said as she eyed the guy.
Girl 1, "But somehow.. their looks don't match each other..."
Girl 2, "How so?"
Girl 1, "Well.. Elijah looks cold and serious while the girl holds... a twinge of mischievousness in her..." She muttered as she eyed the girl suspiciously. As if sensing it, the girl turned to their direction, startling them. The girl put up the sweetest smile she could muster until she and Elijah were finally gone.
Girl 1, "Oh! That was nerve wracking! D'you see that? That was creepy, it's as if she heard us talking!"
Girl 2, "What if she has that kind of power though?"
Girl 1, "Eh! Let's stop dwelling over it.. its not like she's gonna remember us anyways...!" The girl said although she was a tad bit nervous herself.
Girl 2, "But you're right! I can totally see it! She has this kind of look.. I don't know how to put it... but Elijah would look much more better with someone who looks soft!"
Girl 1, "Hmm.. I can imagine someone with droopy eyes.. and... pale creamy skin."
Girl 2, "You're right! It's a shame I have honey colored skin though."
Girl 1, "Haha! Don't even think you'll get a chance with Elijah. Keep dreaming!"
Girl 2, "Shut up! I was only saying it!!"
Now, Elijah and the girl leisurely strolled through the greenhouse as he let her bask with the plants and flowers' fragrance.
"Aahh!" She exhaled with contentment.
"You know.. back in my home, there isn't much wildlife around. And I had to move constantly." She said in a way that'll leave the guy curious and ask for more.
She thought that the guy would ask what she meant by moving around but surprisingly, he stayed indifferent.
She got awkward by the silence so she tried making conversation.
"Uhm.. if you don't mind me asking, what's your name? And why did you even help me? You look like you were in a hurry." She reluctantly asked.
The guy only sighed before answering, "Well, I was in a hurry to get away from my assistant." He shook his head before continuing. "Such persistent man."
"Assistant?"
"I'm the president of the student council committee. My name's Elijah." He reached out his hand with lopsided smile.
"Oh.. I'm Angelina! Nice to meet you!!" She took his hand fervently.
'Elijah?! The famous Elijah of the dukedom Heisenberg?? Heh. I hear his name plenty of times for me to remember it. How affluent...'
"Let's get on going. An hour has passed already." He said as he looked at his wristwatch.
They then went on their merry way. But as they turned on the corner, they almost bumped into someone. Thankfully, that person jumped back before they could even collide. And yes, they literally jumped back. As funny as that sounds.
"Oh, its you." Elijah grinned as he came face to face with Elora.
Elora widened her eyes in apprehension but quickly replaced it with scorn.
"Hello, Elijah." She said in a dry tone. Elijah only furrowed his brows upon hearing her reply.
"How'd you know my name? I haven't even told you that yet." He asked with clear confusion but Elora widened her eyes when she remembered her notes that she had read a few days ago.
'He definitely didn't tell me huh.' She nervously thought.
"Oh, um.. oh no! Would you look at the time." She stared at her nonexistent wristwatch and wiped a dry brow.
"I'm late. So bye!" She said the last part more hurriedly as she ran away, but then she remembered that it wasn't allowed to run in the halls so she briskly diverted in a fast-paced walk.
Elijah was grinning as he shook his head. She really entertained him.
"Uhm.. who was she?" Came a small voice that brought Elijah out of his trance. He forgot that Angelina was even there.
"Oh, she's just a... an acquaintance." He said after giving much thought.
"Oh..." Angelina nodded her head in acknowledgement.
"Are you sure she isn't your lover..?" She teased but when Elijah's grinning face turned serious as he stared her down, she fidgeted.
"Presumptuous of you to think so." He said in a cold voice.
It pissed him that someone who he had just met would have the guts to act casually around him. Even teasing him of the things he despises the most.
He resisted the urge to say anything else as he followed up with, "I'll leave you on your own from here on out. I've shown you almost everything, its up to you to figure out the rest." He explained as he fixed his blazer.
He didn't even spare Angelina a glance as he strutted along his way.
'How dare she say such impudent thoughts.' He thought to himself still extremely pissed.
Never have he ever thought of finding a lover, seeing how his parents' marriage corrupt ever since he was little by lies and foolishness, he had long lost faith in love.
What even is love?
He shook his head to rid of the thought and instead decided to occupy his mind with thoughts of a certain girl who amused him greatly.
He found himself thinking about her from time to time. But that doesn't mean he likes her! He just felt intrigued to know this bratty princess' origins. Especially, after hearing the infamous rumors about her that certainly confused him.
Some of the rumors includes how she was an ungrateful brat who doesn't care about people's feelings, others is how she was actually a two-faced b*tch and the only way you'd know of her true nature is if you've gotten close enough for her to reveal it to you. There are many more rumors about her, and after a little but of digging, he found out that those rumors came from Aeanthra Kingdom itself. But those rumors wasn't that famous, maybe because it really wasn't true, and so searching for them was a little tricky for Elijah.
But he was determined to know her because he had a feeling that she is more than what meets the eye.
Never had he ever met someone like her before.
Bratty, sassy, brazen, and unwomanly. Certainly not like those typical girls who would suck up to him just because of his affluent background.
'Now how would she react once she finds out I'm a Heisenberg. Although, she might've known my name, it doesn't seem like she's changed her attitude...' Elijah pondered.
'Or maybe she doesn't know I'm a Heisenberg and just heard my name somewhere?'
"...Elijah!" An all too familiar voice broke him out of his trance and he closed his eyes in displeasure.
"Finally! I was looking for you everywhere.. hey! Why are you looking at me like that??" Alfonse looked at him in accusation.
"God, your annoying. You should be grateful that you're my best friend, if not then I would've kicked your a*s eons ago!!" Elijah groaned but Alfonse just walked beside him with his chin held high.
"Heh!" He smirked with a proud look.
"Stop being so smug about it." Elijah said his tone cold but behind it was a twinge of annoyance.
"You looked like you were in deep thought earlier, even ignoring me when I had called for you so many times." Alfonse sighed feigning drear.
"What or who were you even thinking about? Was it that bratty girl you call Ella? Hmm??" Alfonse inquired with a teasing tone. But without even as much as looking at him, Elijah replied with a nod.
"Mm. Quite an interesting girl I may say..." He said while diving deep in thought yet again.
Alfonse stopped in his tracks to stare at Elijah's walking figure in shock.
'It was obvious I was teasing him so he'd get flushed. But I didn't expect for him to answer so easily... so does he like her or does he not like her?' Alfonse thought with furrowed brows. But he then shook his head and ran towards Elijah.
'Gaah, this guy's confusing! But it's amazing how he finds that girl interesting when I see her as nothing than a noisy cockroach, flying about and causing chaos everywhere.' Alfonse shook his head yet again with contempt on his face.
'Why cockroach you may ask? Well, she's a tiny feisty little thing. Just like a cockroach who'll fly when it's about to get smashed, she runs her potty mouth when you do as much as provoke her...' Alfonse grumbly thought.
'Ugh! Now I feel pissed off. Ah! Better think of something that'd appease this despite I'm feeling.' He then thought of a perfect imagination that left him grinning like a maniac.
Now both of them headed towards their respective classes, side by side, different expression yet with the same person occupying their minds.
Elijah's face remained serious and indifferent but in his mind, she's thinking of a certain bratty princess; while Alfonse held a scary grin as he thought about how Elora was a cockroach as he chased her down, laughing maniacally, while continuously trying to stomp her as she crawled away with her tiny feet.
What fun imagination Alfonse has...
Not quite.. (c" ತ,_ತ)
