Chapter 8: Jason Parker

1042 Words
Ellie peered over the front seat to catch a glimpse of what lies beyond the iron barred gates that the sheriff's car had stopped in front of. The sheriff rolled down the window of his side and pressed a yellow button on a boxlike thing in front of the gate. Ellie noticed the camera that was attached to the gate as well and she could see the narrow path that laid ahead the gate with greenery on both sides. On the right there were large trees, it was basically the deep woods while on the left there was a range of small bushes that went in and on as if never ending in straight lanes and they seemed well kept and trimmed, it was clear that it was a field of something. "What is growing here?" Ellie asked Beau. "Oh, it's all a coffee farm, Jason owns all of this land" Beau replied and Ellie's eyes widened at his answer. She rolled down the window of her side and stuck her face out, taking a deep long inhale, sure enough, the rich scent of coffee filled her nostrils and Ellie couldn't help but let out a sigh as she already felt more awake than before. "State your name and purpose" a deep throaty voice sounded on the intercom attached to the box with the yellow button and Beau leaned in towards it. "Jason, it's Beau Bennet, I am here with your new wayward" Beau spoke, sending a playful wink towards Ellie from the side mirror making Ellie smile a little. There was no reply, instead the iron gates opened automatically with a buzz allowing Beau to drive in. Ellie admired the vast fields of coffee, inhaling in the rich aroma, she could only imagine how good it would taste freshly brewed. Soon enough the car came to halt in front of a very cozy looking house, it wasn't too big or too small and it seemed to be all on wood, it even had a chimney and Ellie loved it. That was until her eyes went to the six foot something very tall man, a very tall shirtless man, a very tall, shirtless and hot man with pecs, only wearing his blue washed jeans and chopping wood on the side. He stopped as he saw them approach and Ellie's eyes finally trailed up his body to his face, connecting with his dark green orbs like the bushes of that coffee farm. There was not a single doubt that this man was extremely handsome with his sandy brown hair and rich green eyes. They seemed to hold  each other's gaze for what was only a few seconds but seemed like minutes before Beau spoke making Ellie avert her gaze. "Alright lass, we're here come on out now" Beau said holding open the door for her Ellie got out thanking him for holding the door open. Ellie turned back to her her suitcase but Beau stopped her saying he'll get it for her and Ellie didn't protest much knowing very well that it was heavy and the last thing she needed was to make a fool out of herself in front of the hot guy, trying the drag it out. The man with the rich green eyes approached where Ellie was standing and Ellie tried her best not to blush at his bare chestedness or more like the pectorals from heaven. "Hi" Ellie let out shyly and Jason's attention shifted towards her from Beau. The first thing he noticed seeing her standing there was how petite she was. She almost looked like a porcelain doll with her little button nose and big hazel eyes and her hair looked so unique, those strawberry blonde locks going haywire atop her head which he knew that she probably hadn't realized. There was no denying that she was very attractive. He certainly wasn't expecting a fragile girl as Amelia Maslow even though he knew that wasn't her real name. Jason had done this before, his house was in the safe house list of the FBI witness protection program but all his previous witnesses were male and this was the first time he was having a girl stay in with him and the last thing he was expecting was for her to be an actual living, breathing doll. She looked like more work to him. With fragile physique as hers he doubted she'd be able to do much around the cabin herself and certainly not be able to protect herself if need be. He cleared his throat before grunting out a brief "Hey" in return. Ellie frowned, he didn't seem like much of a talker huh. It was kind of worrying considering she might have to stay with him for months at end and it was going to be very boring if he didn't say much, not to mention, he was very intimidating which made him not a very easily approachable person for Ellie but what choice did she have besides dying or living with him. Maybe that was a bit too harsh, she just met him and he is pretty easy on the eyes so maybe they'll get along eventually, she shouldn't be quick to his she him, Ellie thought. "Okay so, I did my job here, this is my card, it has my personal number on it just in case" Beau said handing over a card to Ellie which she took with a small thank you in return. "Alright then, I am gonna get going, take care of her Jason, she is a wee thing" Beau said making Ellie pout at his comment about her. She may be wee but she was strong. "Sure Mr. Bennet, don't worry about it" Jason said with a respectful nod as Beau got into the car. Yet again, when Ellie reached for her suitcase, Jason beat her to it, taking a hold of it and lifting it with ease instead of dragging it by the wheels. Show off, Ellie thought but even she couldn't ignore how his muscles flexed while doing so, she blushed and forcefully averted her gaze. Way out of her league she thought while following him inside the house as he carried in her bag without a word.
