She couldn’t seem to get away from me quickly enough. A look of fear almost on her face as I had pulled her across into my arms, against my chest. Back where I had wanted her to be. Yet she had been so reluctant. So cold, and made her escape as soon as she could. Barely even willing to listen to what I had to say. And straight back to Eli. Of course. He seems to have the ability to put her at ease. Her eyes lighting up with that beautiful smile of hers as he joked around with her. I don’t think I have ever wanted to slap him as hard as I have today! And the poor guy has done nothing wrong, other than being the good guy he is.
