After getting myself dressed and making myself look as presentable as I could with the small amount of make-up I carried around in my handbag, Gio and I left his apartment with a little time to spare. Though he told me he wanted to make sure we got to work before Noah, so he did not question why we were arriving together, and I realized he was well ahead of me with his thinking, because my mind had not even considered that prospect in my still sleepy state. I climbed into Gio’s car in almost a trance-like state, after walking through his building in a comfortable silence, his hand reassuringly on my lower back. The clothes he had arranged for me were surprisingly nice and fit me nicely. He had picked a simple black pencil skirt and a fitted white blouse. The underwear simple, yet lacy.
