I can hear Calista’s mind working. She was staring at me with a poker face and all I could do was wait nervously for her answer. After some time, she smiled a little.
“That could be done, but we will be bringing Charlotte with us on Saturday.”
“What? Why?” I was suddenly confused.
How could that be a date then?
“All of us will be at the gala. Who will take care of Charlotte then?”
She’s right. Why haven’t I thought of that. But how could I make my moves then if Charlotte is to be with us?
I could only sigh inwardly. Charlotte will be another responsibility. Instead of me focusing on Calista that night and keeping other men off her, I would still have to look after Charlotte, too. But Charlotte is my way to Calista and I will have to make the most of it.
