Chapter 1

1796 Words
There was a total darkness. I feel like I was in the depths of an abyss. I can feel myself sinking, but I never reached the end of it. The place was awfully quiet, but I found it more soothing. I don’t hear anything except for my own breathing. The sound of my own breath, the stillness of the silence, and the feeling of falling should be terrifying me, but for some reason, I would rather choose this over somewhere that I had been before. I was clueless as to where I was, but I honestly don’t care. I would prefer staying in the middle of the dark, where everything is quiet, then to find the exit and go back to the world that I just left.   I suddenly felt a strong force trying to pull me to somewhere that I don't know. I'm trying to pull back because I don’t want to leave, but the pull was stronger than me. It’s pulling me up, and it hurts. I can feel my entire body aching, and my head throbbing in pain. The more I tried to pull back, the more it hurt. I don’t know why, but I feel like there’s nothing for me to go back for.   As I can't do anything to stay, I suddenly woke up. I'm gasping for air as if I've lost it. My body was as cold as ice, and my eyes were still blurry. I know I just woke up, but there’s not much different from where I was earlier. As I regain my visions back, I roamed my eyes around. The room that I was in was dim, and only a single light from a lamp was the only source of light throughout the entire room.   I have no idea as to where I am. I sat up and felt my entire body aching. I feel so sore and my throat’s dry. I was parched, and it’s making me anxious for no reason.   With a weak knee, I tried to get out of bed. I walked towards the door and opened it. I immediately covered my eyes as the bright lights blinded me. My vision started to sway. Before falling on my feet, I leaned back to the wall as I wait my eyes to adjust to the light.   When I was finally fine, I slowly walked to the hallway down to the stairs with my hands holding on to the wall for support. My thirst is making me insane, and I badly needed it.   I somehow managed to reach to the first floor. I heard people talking, so I head towards the voices, hoping that they would be kind enough to give me a drink.   "Why did you bring her here?" I heard a woman’s voice asked. "Mom, I have to save her," a man with a modulated voice replied. "You know that it’s not safe for her that she’s here. You know what we are, and you know what she is, " another woman’s voice said. "It’s more dangerous to leave her outside," the same man replied.   I was not close enough to see who they were, but I can clearly hear their conversation. Are they talking about me?   "There's no such thing as a safe place, you know that. Besides, she’s already dead, so what’s the point of bringing her in? There’s no dangerous place for a dead person. ," another man’s voice said. "I sired her."   I hide behind the wall as I looked in their direction. I saw four people standing and having a conversation. A woman who’s wearing a velvet robe standing right across me. The man beside him was also wearing a navy blue robe and was looking at the girl, which I guess is younger than me, who’s wearing a candy printed pajamas. And a guy who’s I assumed is around my age. He’s wearing jeans and a black shirt. He was covered in blood.   “What do you mean?” the girl in her candy pajama asked. “I gave her my blood, and perform a ritual to sired her.” The guy answered. "What?! You're putting yourself in danger son." The woman in her velvet robe said. "Mom please just let me have her, I badly want her," the guy in black replied. “Okay then, let's give it a try. Let's see if this thing's going to work," the man in his navy blue robe said.     I don’t have any idea what they are talking about but, what do they mean by blood and ritual? Is this some kind of cult? As I realize that I might be in great danger, I slowly took a step back quietly, for them not to notice me.   “Seems like she had woken up.” I flinched when I heard her say that.   They all looked in my direction. I was so surprised that I didn’t even notice that I was holding my breath. The guy in black immediately walked towards me. I tried to move away from him, but he immediately got me.   “How are you feeling?” he asked me. For some strange reason, he feels familiar to me. I feel comfortable with his touch. “I’m thirsty.” I replied. “Of course you are. Come sit on the couch.” He said, as he leads me the way.   I looked up to him, and can’t help myself from admiring him. He was utterly gorgeous, he has concrete jaw lines and a well-defined nose the both compliments the shape of his face. His dark hair and bristly eyebrow enhanced his almond-shaped eyes that hold the color of the bright calm ocean. Even his Titan’s shoulder is overwhelming me. I don’t think that a beauty like this should be legal.   “What’s wrong?” he asked me, with his modulated voice that makes my heart flutters, as he gave me his sweet smile. “N-Nothing.” I replied as I looked away. I can’t believe that I was checking him out for a minute! “I think she’s acting strange.” The girl in her pajamas said. I looked at her and was about to ask her what she mean by that, but the guy beside me immediately got my attention. “Here, drink this.” He gave me a wine glass that has a thick red liquid in it.   My nose immediately caught the metallic smell of blood. I looked at it closely, and I almost dropped the glass when I realize that it really contains real blood.   “B-Blood?” I asked as looked at him. They were all surprised by my question and exchange glances. “Drink. Trust me, you’ll feel better after drinking it.” He said as he slightly pushed the wine glass in to my mouth.   I looked at them, and they all gave me the look that it is a normal thing. I lifted the glass closer to my lips, and my throat instantly went dry at the scent of the blood. I felt my blood rushing through my veins, as I felt the urge to drink it. With one move, I finished the entire glass of blood in one gulp.   My hands started to shake as my body craves for more. My head hurts, and my body trembles. I want more. I badly want it. I want that same salty and sweet taste of blood to pass through my mouth down to my throat again. It makes me feel alive and strong. I was about to look for where I could get more blood from one of them, but the guy beside me placed his hand on mine and, in an instant, my body had calmed down.   “W-What just happened?” I asked them, confused at my reaction to the blood. “What do you mean, what happened? You don’t know what just happened?” the girl in pajamas asked me, as if I should know what all of that is about. I looked at the four of them, confused and scared of what was happening. “I think she doesn’t realize it yet.” The guy beside me said.   They were all quiet for a moment. The silence felt strange, and I can feel the tension inside the room. It seems to me that they’re trying to figure something out and they’re thinking whether to tell me or not. I know that there’s something going on here, just by listening to their conversation earlier, but I strangely find myself comfortable with these people.   “You just died.” The guy beside me said with a sigh. “What do you mean, I just died? I can’t be dead. I’m right here talking to you.” I said. “I saw you on the ocean, below the cliff. You probably hit your head on the stones, and you had broken all your bones. You were already lifeless when I picked you up.” He said, which doesn’t make sense to me. “What are you saying? You’re not making any sense! If I was dead, why would I be here?” I asked them.   My breath stopped as I saw his eyes change its color from ocean blue eyes to a bright gold color. He opened his mouth to show me two sharp fangs. I can feel the fear as my body trembled.   “V-Vampire?” I muttered while looking at him. “Yes, and I sired you as one.” He replied, as he changes his eyes and fangs back. “Sired me? You mean I’m also a vampire? But how? That’s impossible!” I said. “You, ingesting the blood that you drank earlier is the proof that you are one.” The woman in the velvet robe said.   I stood up as I stepped back away from them. What they’re trying to tell me is beyond acceptable. How can I be a vampire?   “Raine listen to me.” The guy said as he tried to reach me. “Who’s Raine?” I asked him.   They were all surprised by what I just asked them.   “Can you tell us who we are?” the woman in robe said. “I don’t know! Do I supposed to know you?” I asked them. “Tell us who you are.” The girl in pajama asked.   Me? I panicked, as I don’t know the answer to that. I don’t remember my name. I don’t know who I was. What’s happening? Why can’t I remember anything?   “Who are you dear?” The woman in robe asked again. A tear fell down my eyes as I looked at them.   “I-I don’t know.” I answered them.
