Leo’s POV:
I got out of bed, not very refreshed but at least I got some sleep. I ran down the stairs and bumped into Serena.
She smiled at me as she approached but I wasn’t in the mood for her, I held up my hands as she came closer “We’ll talk later, Serena”
She gave me an annoyed look “At some point you are going to have to talk to me and you are going to have to face your responsibility, whether you want to or not”
I just carried on walking, I passed the dining hall, and I grabbed a doughnut. I didn’t want one, I just needed to do something with my hands. I took a bite and immediately put it down again, finding it hard to swallow because of the knot I had in my stomach and tight feeling in my throat. I gave myself a mental shook and then ran downstairs to the dungeons, I wanted to find out what that little witch was searching for. I needed to occupy my mind with something other than Harper and this impending conversation with Serena.
I walked in and saw that Luke was standing in front of the cell.
He gave me a curious smile when he saw me “She hasn’t said a word all night”
“Open the door”
He opened it and I walked in; the witch was sitting on the bed staring in front of her.
“What were you looking for in my room”
She looked at me and then looked away again.
“Just tell me what you were looking for”
Again, I was greeted with silence.
“Look, I’ll take you back to Silver Moon, I just need to know what you were searching for”
She looked at me and rolled her eyes “What do you think will happen if I talk to you?”
I was puzzled by what she just said “Nothing you’ll go back to Silver Moon, they can deal with you, you saved Harper I owe you for that”
“You’re wrong, that will not happen. What will happen is far worse”
“What do you mean? Just spit it out, I can help you.”
She gave a bark of laughter before she spoke again “I will not say more”
The girl stared at me for a long time, as if she was thinking about telling me, she then turned her head and looked straight ahead, I knew she wasn’t going to say more. I felt frustrated and angry, I slammed the cell door shut as I was leaving. “Let her sit there and think about it, maybe a few days in the cell will loosen her lips”
In the back of my mind, I knew it wouldn’t, but I would do anything to avoid talking with Serena.
I went back upstairs to the dining hall, I tried to eat some breakfast but I was distracted, I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was wrong, really wrong.
I sensed the moment that Serena walked in, she grabbed some food and sat down beside me. I braced myself for her next words.
“Are you ready now”
I knew there was no way of avoiding this conversation, “Fine, what do you want”
“I want us to be husband and wife, Alpha and Luna again, truly be together like we use to be, before Harper”
“Your delusional Serena we were never truly married, and you knew that, our marriage was arranged, by Evans, and I am still not completely over the fact that you betrayed me”
“But at some point, you must have loved me”
“I always cared about you Serena, but I will never describe that as love, and I never said otherwise”
I could see the hurt in her eyes, but for some reason I wanted to hurt her, I wanted her to feel pain. I wanted her to feel pain, my pain, living without Harper these last two years had been Hell. I rubbed my face with my hands and then looked at her. I stared at her for a couple of moments, this wasn’t her fault it was mine, I had lost faith in ever finding my mate and agreed to the marriage between Serena and myself, I should feel this pain, I deserved it. This was all my fault and now we had a baby on the way.
“Fine Serena you win, we can have a normal marriage, I will mark you and we will raise the pup or pups together. But I first need to blow off some steam, so I am going out tonight, with Luke”
She gave me a smug smile and then got up and left the dining hall.
‘Stupid, stupid human’
‘Jesus Drake, this is not her fault, its mine, and what am I supposed to do now, she is having our pup’
Drake never answered me, he just disappeared again, I knew he wasn’t happy with me, but this is something that had to be done, just a pity I would pay for one mistake my whole life.
I left the dining room and mind linked Luke to meet me tonight, but first I needed to sort out some pack business, I needed to discover if all the warriors were loyal to me now and not to Serena and Evans.
I went to some of my most loyal warriors and questioned them.
“Alpha how can we help you”
“I need to know if you guys have seen anything out of place, anyone acting weirdly or questioning me being Alpha”
“No, we haven’t noticed anything”
“Could you guys please keep an eye out for me and report anything suspicious, doesn’t matter how insignificant it seems”
“We will Alpha” they all bowed their heads and I ordered them to return to their training.
The rest of the day I spend making calls to Joshua to check on things there, he invited me to a meeting of The Four, that’s what we called ourselves now, there at Silver Moon, I laughed just thinking of the name. I then contacted some other packs and scheduled meetings with them, we needed to bring order to the Wolf Packs and soon, we didn’t need another power-hungry Alpha to try and take control again, we needed peace.
My mind drifted back to Harper the time after she arrived at our pack, and I smiled. I remembered the first training session with her and I could feel an involuntary smile spread across my face.
'The new girl decided to join us' as I said it her face turned red.
'Yes Alpha, I was a warrior in my old pack, I hope it's all right'
I smiled at her 'Yes of course'
'I walked over to her, and I couldn't help but notice the shy smile, my heart gave an uncomfortable lurch, but I knew in that moment she had me.
'Care to test some of your moves on me"'
'If you wish Alpha"'
I wished a whole lot more than that, but I just cleared my throat and took of my shirt.
I saw her eyes roam over my stomach and chest area, and it made my blood boil.
'Don't hold back, ready'
She shook her head and before I knew it, she had me on the floor between her thighs, she was fast and strong, and honestly, I couldn't think of a better place to be.
I quickly picked her up and threw her to the side, she landed on her feet, and I saw a small smile on her face, my goddess she was magnificent. What made this particular fight more intense was that every time we touched, it felt like lightning strikes.
I smiled back at her, 'Ready'
'Always'
This time when she attacked, I was ready for her, when she launched herself at me, I grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her back against my chest, I grabbed her other wrist and held it tight.
We only then noticed the curious stares we were receiving from everyone around us.
We pulled apart and she took her place with the other warriors. Just thinking about it now brought more longing than I was able to deal with.'
I cleared my mind of her haunting memory and got back to business.
After all my Alpha business, I got dressed and met Luke at the pack house entrance. I saw him and three of my best warriors with him. I gave Luke a quizzical stare, “We thought you could use something to take your mind off things.” I smiled at Luke, “So first we are going to go out to dinner and then we’re going to Pat’s for a few drinks”
I laughed loudly “Yeah I could really use that, let’s go”
