The Beginning
This is book 2 of the Series. The first book is Alpha’s Redemption, which I recommend you read first. The first book is about Joshua and Emma and the second book is Leo and Harper, but as their story already starts in book 1, it would make more sense reading Book 1 first, but this is good as a stand alone to. Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it.
The beginning:
Leo’s POV:
I could feel Harper fighting at my back, we moved as if we were one, meant for each other. She knew what my next move would be, we were an extension of each other. Our minds linked together in this one moment. I could feel all her feelings and emotions of me running through her mind and I was hoping she could feel mine too. Because this will be the only way I could ever show her my feelings. I loved her, I knew that, and I wanted to be with her, but Serena.
I felt a rush of frustration a feeling of being trapped in this triangle of despair. I managed to take all those feelings and use it to defeat my enemies. I killed everyone who came in my way, rogue after rogue lay behind us. I fought, knowing that Harper would never let anyone close to me, I was protected, by her and she by me.
At last, we would be rid of the council, and she had helped me accomplish that, were Serena had fought against us, against me, her husband, Harper had fought with me, stood by me.
I looked back and smiled at her, proud of my mate, she didn’t smile back, and I knew why. As soon as this fight was over, I was going back to my wife, a wife who betrayed me and our cause. I was leaving behind a mate for a woman I didn’t care for, who I have come to hate, but I felt obligated to Serena, and I didn’t know why, I couldn’t explain why, I just felt obligated to Serena, probably because I knew she was in love with me, I could never love her though.
Rogue after rogue fell before us, behind us. I couldn’t help but think of the moment I first laid eyes on Harper. The fateful day that brought my mate into my life.
Flashback 2 years:
Leo’s POV:
“There is not much of the pack left Alpha” my beta Luke walked towards me, “They have been obliterated, the Rogues were vicious, destroying everything before them”
I gazed over the pack, they looked defeated, the survivors walking through our gate was all that was left of the Centurion Pack. My wolf, Drake, was unsettled, something was wrong, it literally felt as if he was pacing in my mind. ‘Would you calm the f**k down’
‘Here, here, here’.
I decided to ignore him and to just get on with taking in the new pack, helping them where I could. “How many survived”
“About fifteen, and that is only because of one of their warriors, fought like a bloody demon, we only saw the last of the fight, when we arrived with our warriors the
rogues ran off, but it was incredible”
“I would like to meet this guy, maybe we can use him in our pack, do you think his loyalty can be shifted”
I watched as Luke started laughing “What so funny”
“I’m sure HER loyalty can be”
I was surprised, I knew other packs had women as warriors but ours never did, probably because all the women I knew was never interested in being one, not my mother, and not Serena “She’s a woman”
He laughed again “Yeah, and quite a beautiful one”
“That’s all I need, a woman f*****g up the morale in my pack, with warriors trying to impress her”
‘Here, here, here’
‘What the f**k is wrong with you? calm down Drake’
I started walking towards the dining hall, we were assembling all the pack members there. As I entered, the most intoxicating scent hit me, I stood still for a couple of seconds, trying to establish where the smell came from. As I stood looking around, the smell only intensified, the smell surrounded me and drew me nearer. ‘Mate, mate, mate’. My wolf was screaming in my head.
When he said those dreaded words, my body went ice-cold and I started to shiver, not now please the fates couldn’t be this cruel.
I had married the previous year, at 25 I hadn’t found my mate, I had been Alpha of the Golden Sphere pack for 7 years already, I couldn’t be without a Luna, so I accepted an arranged marriage. I had never marked Serena because honestly, I never wanted to. But now discovering my mate was just cruel.
I turned around and watched as a tallish, blond women walked into the dining hall.
As she looked up, I stared into the most magnificent bright green eyes I had ever seen. We slowly walked to one another as if we were caught in a trance. Everything around me faded, there was only her and me. She smiled at me, and it was as if the sun shone for this first time. I kept walking to her, as I stopped in front of her, I took her hand in mine. Our heads drifted of their own accord to each other, just before we could kiss, someone yanked at my shoulder.
I immediately snapped out of my trance “What the f**k do you think you’re doing Leo”
I stood there dumbstruck, staring at the confused face of my mate “Leo, what are you doing”
I stared down and saw Serena’s small hand, yank at my shoulder.
“Serena”
“Yes and who is this” she pointed to the girl.
I wanted to answer but I couldn’t, Luke stepped forward "This is the warrior I have been telling you about" and then I heard my mate speak for the first time.
“I am Harper, my pack and I just arrived here, we were attacked by rogue’s and your Alpha came to our rescue”
I stared at Serena as if coming to my senses for the first time in my life “Yes, I’m Alpha Leo”. I heard myself saying the words but there was no feeling behind them, I was just rambling.
She smiled at me again and my mind drew a blank again. I watched as Serena puffed up “And I am Luna Serena, his wife”
I saw the girls smile drop, followed quickly by her head “Thank you Alpha, Luna, for saving my pack, we owe you our lives”
I wanted to see her smile again, hear her voice, her laugh. In that moment I hated the decision I made a year earlier, by marrying Serena.
I walked away because that was all I could do, but I left my heart behind, and I honestly never got it back.
End flashback:
I watched as Harper killed another Rogue, I was in awe of her, I watched as she brought down her nails and slice it through another rogue. As they all fell around us, I knew I would give it all up, for a minute with her.
“Looks like we got them all Alpha”
“I hate it when you call me that”
She just stared at me, she walked closer to me “I want to become a part of Joshua’s pack”
I froze, I didn’t want her to leave my pack, I couldn’t allow it “I know you do, but I can’t let you”
“f**k Leo, I can’t go back to living like that. Just mark her and let me move on”
I watched as she turned around and walk towards Emma. I knew at some point I was going to have to mark Serena, but I couldn’t. Knowing Harper was so close, I could never want anyone else.
Unknown POV:
“So that s**t Evans failed”
I looked at my brother sitting across from me, I was annoyed at him and the situation, so I hit the table before me “f**k, I had put 30years in him”
My brother looked at me and started laughing “Not to worry, brother, we have time, lots of time, all the time in the world”
I started pacing the floor “I have spoken to my man within Golden Sphere Pack, Leo is torn between the two women, which means he is distracted, I had thought we could use this to our advantage, strike now”
“We’ll see brother, we’ll see. Why don’t you contact HER and hear what she has to say”
“NO, for f**k-sake, no. She will immediately call a meeting with the Alliance”
“Then there is nothing more I can help you with, and you are wasting my time, time I could be spending with my mistress”
I watched as my brother stood up and walked out the room, I wanted to be rid of him as much as them, f*****g asshole. I should be the one leading us, and I would have been, if Evans succeeded.
