Things were chaotic and the atmosphere was so dense. Everyone was anxious as they waited for Niyaaz to wake up. Camden stayed by his side, all day.
When he moved, he felt it. Elated, Camden sat up and looked down at his husband, brushing back his jet black hair gently. Niyaaz's eyes fluttered open and they couldn't focus clearly. Niyaaz shut them again, to clear the fuzzy image. Camden waited patiently for him.
When the fog was gone, Niyaaz could focus. He was confused at first, seeing an unfamiliar place. He looked around slowly. When his eyes found those green orbs that he grew to love and cherish, his face lit up, like it did every time he saw his husband.
Camden smiled down at him, gently removing the mask off his face. Niyaaz's breath was ragged; nothing he couldn't handle. A smile broke into his face as he looked up at Camden, who hovered over him.
Cam, he mouthed. Camden's eyes were filled with tears, as it finally dawned on him. He could have lost him. He could have lost his love. His everything.
"Hi baby," he attempted to smile, through the tears. Niyaaz frowned, his eyes darting between his. Guilt gnawed at him, when he saw the sadness, the pain embedded in Camden's eyes. His eyes pooled with unshed tears, whilst a tear slid down Camden's face. Unable to take it, Niyaaz whimpered. It's the only way he can communicate. To show his emotions. To show his feelings. "It's okay, my love. You're okay now," he whispered softly to the gentle male lying on the bed.
The assurance did nothing to prevent the tears that slid down Niyaaz's face. He whimpered again, hating how he caused pain to the man of his dreams. The man who loved him unconditionally. He almost died and left him.
Sorry, Niyaaz mouthed to Camden, who smiled, shaking his head at him.
"Don't apologize my love. You have absolutely nothing to apologize for, okay?" He said moving to catch the tears that slid down the side of Niyaaz's face. "You're safe now and I'm never letting you go," Camden's voice broke at the end and it pained Niyaaz. "God, you scared me," he whispered, pressing his forehead gently against Niyaaz's forehead. "I thought I was losing you," a tear slid down onto Niyaaz's forehead.
Slowly, Niyaaz lifted his uninjured arm and stroked Camden dreadlocks, in hopes of consoling him. Camden lifted his head slightly to look at Niyaaz, after a lingering kiss on his forehead. He attempted a smile, but it didn't meet his eyes. Camden pressed his lips against Niyaaz's in a soft kiss.
He needed the reassurance that Niyaaz was really here. He needed to touch him. To feel his warmth under his skin. Niyaaz responded to the kiss, desperate for Camden's soft lips. A sound erupted from Niyaaz as he relished in the kiss. Camden pulled back, knowing they needed to breath. If it was up to them, they'd stay like this. Camden pecked Niyaaz's swollen lips one more time before pulling back.
"I love you," he whispered quietly. Niyaaz smiled, his heart soaring. Sometimes he felt like this was all too surreal. That one day, he'd wake up and there would be no more Camden. No more happiness for him. It made him sad, knowing his life depended on someone else. At the same time, the love he felt and gave out, it was just so vast. He felt like his heart couldn't handle it and it would burst any time.
He smiled at Camden. I love you too. He didn't want anything to disturb this moment between them. God knows they don't get enough time to themselves. They take any minute given to them and used it to the best of their abilities.
There was a nagging feeling in the back of his head. He needed to get it out. He needed to tell them. He could have sworn he heard Evelyn talking. He wasn't sure.
His head snapped towards the door opening to reveal a man with sandy hair. He smiled when he saw Niyaaz awake.
"He's awake," Dominic said, walking in with a little girl, trailing behind him. "How are you feeling?" Niyaaz looked back at Camden, not knowing what was going on.
"That's, uh, Dominic. Evelyn's fiance," Camden said with a grimace. Niyaaz's eyes widened in shock.
Evelyn? Fiance?
Camden chuckled quietly, seeing Niyaaz's surprised face. "Beckett brought you here when you got hurt, to his house,"
Evelyn? He questioned.
"Oh you're awake," he heard her before he can see her. Evelyn appeared, wearing only a baggy tshirt and shorts. She smiled at him, walking over to the bed.
"Come on, baby, let's get you to bed," Dominic turned to his daughter.
"I'm not sleepy, daddy," the little girl mumbled, eyeing Niyaaz, behind her daddy.
"It's midnight, baby. It's way past your bedtime," Dominic pressed.
"Why is she still awake?" Evelyn inquired.
"She snuck a fizzy drink. They tend to keep her awake," Dominic said picking Inez up. "If you guys need anything, Evelyn will help you. I'm off to bed," he spoke to the two men. Camden nodded.
Niyaaz couldn't believe his eyes, as he stared at Evelyn. It's been so long, since he saw her. He missed her dearly, knowing aside from Camden, she was the closest person to him. She understood him better. Heck, she even learnt sign language, just so he can talk to him.
He was so happy to see her, but this nagging feeling in the back of his head wouldn't allow him to remain happy. With a sigh, he turned to Camden, who'd mastered the art of reading lips. Evelyn still struggled with that.
Caspian. He mouthed to Camden, who frowned.
"Repeated that?"
Caspian. Judging by the way Camden's eyes widened, he understood.
"What did he say?" Evelyn asked, looking between the two.
"I think you were right, Evelyn," Camden whispered, dread washing over him. His worst nightmare came to life. "Caspian did this to Niyaaz. It was the Draughrr,"
Niyaaz shook Camden's arm gently, to get his attention. When he looked down, he carried on. Evelyn is not safe.
"What do you mean baby?" Camden rushed out.
Niyaaz dreaded saying what he had to say next. He didn't want to believe it. The evidence was as clear as day. He'd never seen Caspian before. When he finally revealed himself, it finally made sense to him. Looking between Evelyn and Camden, he sighed and closed his eyes.
Evelyn is daughter. He mouthed to Camden. Caspian's daughter.
"What?!" Camden almost shrieked.
"What?" Evelyn inquired, watching the two males communicating before him. Camden looked up at her, whilst Niyaaz's eyes closed.
"Baby, are you sure about what you're saying?" Camden asked Niyaaz. Niyaaz nodded.
Before he shot me, he told me he wanted her. He told me that she was his daughter and not Alex. Caspian looks exactly like Alexander, Evelyn's father.
"I've never seen Caspian with my eyes. W-when I was part of the Draughrr, he never revealed himself to us," Camden said, deep in thoughts. "Are you sure it was him?" Niyaaz nodded.
Cam, he looks like Evelyn.
"Can someone tell me what's going on?" Evelyn asked, eyeing the two men before her. Camden hesitated, eyeing Niyaaz. He didn't know if he should say this? Niyaaz nodded for him to tell her. Niyaaz was in no state to sign for her. His arm was recovering. Perhaps, tomorrow he can try. For now, he depended on his husband.
"Uh, okay," Camden said rubbing his temple. "Caspian said something to Niyaaz, before he...he shot him," he began, not looking at her.
"What is it?" Evelyn pressed.
"You are...you are Caspian's daughter."
