Chapter 8: Back to Work

I woke up alone in bed. Looking at the clock, it’s past six in the morning. I still have almost two hours to prepare for work. The thought that I had to come back to work today fills me with anxiety. I remember that Sebastian had back to back meetings scheduled today, and I couldn’t afford to be away from work for two days in a row. Besides, I’m still on probation at work, and attendance is a big factor in whether I will get to be a regular employee or will get terminated. I dragged myself out of bed and went to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. There’s still bruising on my face, but not as bad as the previous day. I can conceal it with makeup.
