Chapter 14 Wolf

1767 Words
“Where are you, my little wolf?” The moment Leona asked that question, she heard a faint, tiny voice purred as the response. She turned her head in surprise, searching for the voice source, and then saw a cute stuffed animal sitting motionlessly on top of the cold fireplace. It was a kind of creature she had never seen before, in between a wolf and … something else. It was the size of a grown Welsh corgi, but the muzzle on its face was kind of flat. Its ears were fluffy with uncommon lush hair. Its fur was in between grey and golden, glinting under the white lamplight. And its pair of extraordinarily large black eyes were beautiful and magnificent. It was the most adorable creature Leona had ever seen. But she didn’t remember seeing it when she first checked into the hotel room. Slowly and curiously, she walked in front of the stuffed animal. When she got closer, she noticed that it was still breathing, only very slowly and quietly. She instantly realized it wasn’t a stuffed animal at all. It was her little wolf, Eric! Only that his wolf didn’t look like a wolf at all. That was why those dragon guards missed him! Leona widened her eyes in surprise. She stopped in front of the fireplace and asked, “Is that you, Eric?” The “wolf” sat tight on top of the fireplace, staring at the front, pretending to be dead persistently. But his eyes blinked when he heard Leona call his name. Leona then knew it was definitely Eric. She laughed ruthlessly. Just when she thought her little wolf couldn’t be cuter anymore, he got even cuter!!! “Oh My goddess,” she exclaimed, cupping his fluffy face in between her hands, and rubbed it. “How could your wolf be so damn cute?!” she asked. The little wolf let out a string of annoyed grumbling from its throat, and then turned its head away as protest at her cold-hearted mock. Leona was amused by him. She reached her hands under his armpits to lift him up to have a good look at him. His legs were a lot shorter than normal wolves. And his ears, nose, and eyes were all round-shaped, kind of like a red panda. Leona instantly knew there was something wrong with his wolf. That was why she couldn’t smell him anymore after he shifted. He had a malfunctioning wolf. But, still, he was freaking cute!!! “Oh! My!” she laughed again, purely out of joyfulness this time. Now she finally saw why Eric didn’t go back to his father. If she was an Alpha wolf with such an adorable appearance, she would have run away from home too. Eric grumbled again, struggling to get down on the floor to shift back. The way his short legs waved fruitlessly in the air was way too endearing. Leona laughed again. She then held the little creature in front of her chest. “Oh, no,” she said with a mischievous smile, “You aren’t going to shift back until I say so.” Eric growled angrily. He was embarrassed by his wolf. Hadn’t those guards come so abruptly, he wouldn't have shifted. Before he came back to meet Leona, he swore to himself that he would never shift in front of her!!! He rubbed his head against her neck roughly in protest. But Leona’s laughter was so happy and genuine. Eric knew she adored his deformed wolf. Eventually, he gave up and let her hold him. Leona petted his neck as praise and then looked around and checked the room. She didn’t take much luggage with her when she and Eric left the bar. And those savage dragon guards had just ruined everything. Except for the mask Eric picked for her, there was nothing left for her to take. “Guess we will have to do some shopping when we arrive at the dragon’s capital,” she said with a shrug, and then picked up the mask and her cell phone from the desk, then turned and left the room. She put Eric down in the hallway, gesturing for him to follow her like a puppy. The wolf did it with grumpy noises from its throat. He swore to himself that he would never ever shift again in front of her!! Leona laughed at the way his short legs walked. She then went down the stairs, and then to the front desk. It was still the same dragon lady standing behind the counter. Leona stopped and asked her, “Excuse me, is there any place nearby for me to rent a car?” The lady raised her eyes from her glasses again and looked at her. Eric stayed really close to Leona’s feet. The lady didn’t see him. She paused for a few seconds before she answered. “No,” she said, “You can’t rent a car in the middle of the forest. But if you don’t mind, you can take my son’s motorbike. He’s gotten a new one.” “Fine with me,” Leona grinned. She paid for the motorbike with her own money, and then told the lady, “By the way, I am more than happy to compensate for the damage caused to your hotel room. Just send the bill to the wolf’s castle, addressing Austin Davis and Felix White. They will pay.” The hotel owner looked at her with a questioning gaze. Leona had already turned and left. She strode out of the hotel gate with her little wolf and waited. Soon, the bellboy got the bike for her. It was a huge, black gas-guzzler, designed for professional racers. Leona wowed the moment the bellboy pushed it in front of her. She quickly straddled the big machine, checked the tank first, and then tested the engine. The machine gave out a string of amazing roars. Leona felt her cells were ignited with excitement. She patted the back seat and called her little wolf, “Get on, little wolf. It’s time for a ride.” Eric didn’t move. He just sat beside the motorbike, staring at her with pleading in his cute puppy eyes, and his tail wagged. Leona knew he was asking to shift back. But she didn’t want him to. He was too damn cute in his wolf form. She couldn’t resist it! “Don’t look at me like that. You know they are hunting for you. You will get caught if you shift back,” she said with a straight face, and then added, “But don’t worry. You will get my permission once we get somewhere safe. Come on. Let’s go.” She patted on the back seat again, but Eric still didn’t move. He kept staring at her with aggrievement in his eyes, and his tail went down. Leona then knew he really hated being like that. He was a wolf after all. Even Omega got tougher wolves than him. Though he grew up in the human world. It still affected him. Leona sighed. She bent over and then lifted up her cute wolf again. She wasn’t making things up. Felix had already gotten the dragons to work with him. Even if Eric hadn’t had such an adorable wolf, she would have to find other ways to disguise him to bring him to the dragon’s capital. “You know I love you, right? No matter what your wolf looks like, it won’t change the way I feel for you,” she whispered softly, staring into his cute but upset puppy eyes. Eric groaned disapprovingly. He wasn’t ashamed of himself. Ever since the first time he shifted, he had already known he was different from others. He grew up in his aunt Amelia’s pack. And she and her husband never allowed anyone to laugh at him. Occasionally, some of his peers would say bad words behind him. But he never cared. He had been a mature child since he was little. He knew better than that. But it was different in front of Leona. She was the person he admired and loved so much. And she was so powerful, beautiful, almost perfect. He had been dreaming of standing beside her as her shield, even her sword ever since the first time he met her. And it hurt when the only thing he could do in front of her was be a cute stuffed animal. He wanted to be her man who could hold her and help her, not a puppy who could only amuse her. He stared back at her with aggrievement and upset in his eyes, unable to say anything in his wolf form. Leona sighed again. As much as she adored his “wolf”, she understood him. No one would want such a cute, but actually deformed wolf. It was abnormal. She thought for a while and then told him, “And I promise I will get your real wolf back.” Eric widened his eyes in surprise, as he couldn’t understand. Leona knew that. She was the supreme wolf. Only she could verify that Eric’s current “wolf” wasn’t his real wolf. It wasn’t even a wolf. She felt no connection with it. And when they had s*x, Eric’s eyes flicked golden frequently. But his current “wolf” still had black eyes. His real wolf was hidden somehow. That was probably why he was only an Omega. “Your current wolf isn’t your real wolf. I will help you find your real wolf and he will be as badass as others. I promise,” she explained to him. Eric’s eyes instantly lightened up. He didn’t even ask to be admitted as an Alpha. Having a normal wolf like others was his biggest dream. He stared at Leona attentively, eagerly asking for confirmation. Leona smiled and then raised her right hand beside her ear. “I swear,” she said. Eric immediately became happy. He twisted his body in her hand to jump across her shoulder, and then landed on the back seat accurately. And then, he stood up with his hind legs and put his forepaws on her shoulder, rushing her to depart. Leona laughed at his cute reactions. She turned her head and printed a kiss on her little wolf, and then wore the helmet and ignited the engine. The bike roared loudly and dashed out of the forest like an arrow. In the blink of an eye, they reached the highway to the dragon’s capital city.
