Sienna's POV
“Mommy, please hold me.” The child's adorable voice brought me back from my shock, and then I looked over at Arnold to find him frowning at the little boy.
Is this his son? Did he impregnate Sideline and give birth to this little boy? This discovery broke my heart. I thought I didn't care about him anymore, but in reality I still love him.
'Please stop thinking about him, Sienna.' My wolf Koria said softly.
'Yes, he is my brother-in-law. I am trying to get rid of him, but I need some more time.' I answered her.
"Let go, buddy." Arnold said, trying to pull him away. The boy didn't want to let go of my legs. He actually held me tighter to the point where I was going to fall down.
"Let me try." l asked, and Arnold nodded reluctantly.
"Can you please let go so I can see your eyes." I crouched down and addressed the boy. Maybe it's because he is my sister's son. I felt I was an instant connection between us.
He reluctantly let go and looked at me with big eyed-wide eyes.
His blue eyes are locked on me like he's afraid I'll leave. He looked like a male version of me, but he had cute dimples and was a lot chubbier.
The boy was nothing like his father, though. His father has black hair, and he has blonde hair like us. Nothing about him can convince you that he's Alpha Arnold's son.
He had no resemblance to Arnold, but he was definitely the cutest boy I've ever met.
I felt a lot of emotions while staring into his eyes. I felt love and the protectiveness I felt for my sister. it was surprising because I'd only just met him, and I already knew that I would kill for him.
"Hey, little one." I said, carrying him. l couldn't help but be sad when I looked into his eyes. It's not fair that he just lost his mother.
"I missed you, Mommy." He grabbed my hand and said. I get why he would think that I'm Sideline because of our resemblance.
"I'm not -" My father cut us off before l could correct him.
"I thought we warned you not to come here, Simon." My father hissed. I honestly get why he is frustrated today, but I don't think it's fair that he talks to a child this way.
"He's a kid. You should be nice to him." l hissed. I felt so protective of him already.
"I do hope you know who you're talking to." To my surprise, my dad immediately submitted, and I looked at him in satisfaction.
I don't know why he thought he could talk to the alpha's son, just like how he talks to me, but I'm glad that there's somebody who can put him in his place.
Arnold came to us and tried to take Simon from me, but he clinged harder.
"Come to Daddy." He looked at Simon sternly, but he still wouldn't let go.
"You said that mommy would come back, and I would stay with her forever." He cried. I can relate to his sadness, loneliness, and fear after losing his mother because I've been there. He is like me when I left Spirit Lake pack five years ago.
"You guys can go so long, and I'll take care of him." I said to them, but I was looking at Arnold for reassurance, and he nodded.
My dad had definitely scared Simon a bit, but he smiled back when I smiled at him.
"You're so cute." l said, pinching his cheeks.
"You're beautiful, Mommy. " He laughed. I am literally in love with everything about him, and his voice is just soothing.
"So what do you want to do while we wait for your father to return." I ask him. To be honest, I've never been in a situation where I have to take care of a kid or actually spend time with one, so I am way out of my wits here.
"I'm hungry, mommy." He said sheepishly.
Okay, I really need to sort out this mommy thing, but I don't want to break his heart at the same time, considering how he's looking at me.
"Let's go make you something to eat." I said, heading towards the pack house, but he pointed back at the house.
“We should go home to eat.”

Arnold's Pov
Sideline's mother was inconsolable, and so were other members of the Pack. They lost a Luna that they loved. The worst part wasn't her death because we'd been anticipating it for years since she disappeared, but the gruesomeness was unexplainable.
Her body was burned beyond repair with a note left on the gate.
All these people were grieving, but they were grieving somebody they never knew.
For me, this day was long overdue. Sideline was not the mother of my son nor my mate, even when she was here.
She had left her room, and she hadn't even touched Simon before she disappeared.
I will admit that I never loved her, but I chose her because I thought she would fit in as the Luna of this pack because everybody spoke highly of her, not to mention that she's the reason why I'm still alive.
She saved me once.
When I was out with my parents and was attacked, my parents were killed trying to protect me. Although I was lucky enough to escape, I also fainted at the border of the pack with severe injuries. It was Sideline who saved me. So I gave her everything she wanted.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay, man?" My Beta Josh says. I get why he's worried, and he's not the only one.
Everybody has been commenting on how exhausted I look and that I need help.
"I've been doing this for years, so you don't have to worry about me." I answer him. But you can actually tell from a mile away that I'm tired, but my son means the world to me. I can't go down.
"You can call me if you need anything. You know Uncle Josh is always ready to babysit." He said. Josh has been a great help, and I'm glad l have him as my beta.
"Check in around the perimeter. I don't want any more surprises." l said dismissing him.
They are all expecting me to break or at least be in pain, but the only person I feel sorry for is my son, who will never get to have a mother.
My mind took me to Sienna, and I willed myself not to even entertain the thoughts.
There is a time and place for everything, and not today.
Though I'm glad to have met her again.
Her parents approached me after we laid Sideline to rest.
"I'm sorry about what I said to Simon, l-" Before Sideline's father could give me his half-backed excuses, I stopped him.
"I know that this day is hard for you, but do not talk to my son like that ever again." I said to Dave. He may be my son's grandfather, but nobody has a right to talk to him like that. He will be the next Alpha of the Spirit Lake Pack, and everyone needs to respect him.
I rushed home to my son. I knew that he thought Sienna was his mother, but he wasn't used to other people, and he preferred spending time with me.
The house was quiet when I entered, and I went directly to his room, where I found him and Sienna clinging onto each other asleep. She's just as beautiful as she was five years ago. Even though she looks exactly like Sideline, I can still recognize them clearly. There was a magic about Sienna that allowed me to find her quickly in a crowd.
It's a bitter sweet moment because I wish she was my son's mother.
