We returned from the cabin the next day, and I dropped my bag on the bedroom floor. I crawled into bed. Then someone sat on my ass.
I reached behind me and felt a pair of legs. “My, a lumpy pillow sits on me.” I heard giggling as I turned onto my back, maneuvering Nora so that she was sitting on my stomach.
“Are you still upset?”
“No.” I sighed. “I learned more about my family history than I wanted to know.”
“Do you ever think about having kids?”
“I thought about it. When I realized I wouldn’t meet anybody, the thought vanished.”
“And now?”
“Now, I wouldn’t mind seeing little ones run around loose. What about you?”
“I wouldn’t mind having kids. Although, I’m not sure how I would handle them, considering I don’t have the best luck with a family.”
