Chap 1: Picking up the pieces.

***Beaula's POV***

After l came out of the Alpha King Damon Silver's office, I went back to the 1st floor in search of the royal Butler.

And since I didn't know the direction to his office, I asked the first omega I came across.

"Hello Ms, can you please direct me to the office of Royal Butler John?"

She gave me a strange look before replying "His office is ahead of you, the second door on your right."

"Thank you very much," I said with a fake smile.

Moving on to the direction given by the omega, I stood in front of the royal butler's door for a few minutes, took a deep breath, and prepared myself for what is to come. I gave a gentle knock when a deep voice said "come in".

I opened the door lightly and entered. I was met with two pairs of eyes immediately when I lifted my head.

The Royal Butler John was in his chair with a beautiful woman about 50 years old sitting opposite him.

" Hello beaula, I just got off the phone with our king and he informed me of your visit," he said with a fatherly smile.

I just nodded and he continued

"I was told you would be working in the kitchen as a servant (omega) to the royal family"

" Yes sir " I replied.

He nodded and stated," This lovely woman is Madam Mary, who is the housekeeper of the royal family and also my assistant. She will take you to your room."

" Thank you, Sir" was my only reply.

Madam Mary gave me a faint smile as I turned in her direction. She stood up and started walking to the door, which I followed.

We made our way to the servant's quarters. She began to speak

" Beaula, I'm very sorry for your loss and all the hardship you have to go through at a very young age and now that you're all alone with no one."

"Thank you very much, Madam," I said with a sad smile.

"Your parents were good people, they helped me some time ago when my 10-year-old boy was knapped and now that they are gone, I want to return the favor. So you can come to me for help if you need anything" she said after a long sigh.

"Okay, Madam, and thank you. " I stated.

We continued our journey in silence and when we got to the servant's quarters, she opened one of the doors and she spoke again,

" This is your new room but you have to share a bathroom with four other servants whom you will get the chance to meet very soon."

She continued

"You have to wake up as early as four am and by four-fifteen am, you should be in the kitchen for further instructions. I will let you get some rest", she walked out of my new room, closing the door gently behind her.

I dropped my body on my bed after a long sigh, the events of today feel like a bad dream which I want so much to wake up from. But I know this is my reality because of the pain I feel in my heart.

A pain that will never fade away. Looking around my new room, l notice a brown table, chair, and wardrobe at the left side of the room and a single bed in the center. Even though the room is plain, this will do since I have nothing left.

I quickly sat on the bed, saying to myself "You can do this, Beaula, you can do anything you put your mind to and believe in, you are strong, Beaula, you are confident and courageous."

"Your parents didn't teach you to be weak in times like this, Beaula, you were taught that there is light at the end of the tunnel even in the darkest situations."

I continued "All you need to do is to find that light, even if it's the most tiniest thing on earth, hold on to it and work hard to extend it." After speaking to myself, my eyes sparkled with determination.

I promised myself to learn anything learnable and train hard to be a warrior just like my parents, to make my parents and mate proud. I know in a year's time I will get my wolf and find my handsome mate. With this thought, I closed my eyes and fell into deep slumber.

I woke up to the sun shining on my face through the open window. I blinked my eyes a few times before adjusting to the light in the room. I also stretched. I was feeling sore and pained all over. I was wondering why, because my bed is the most comfortable bed in the world.

I turned and looked at the bed in confusion. " This is not my bed and where am I? This is not my room." I got out of bed and looked around when last night's memories started playing in my mind like a movie.

" ooh.....no no no, I'm an omega now and a servant. I'm late and so screwed"

In a quick motion, I opened the wardrobe and found a few servants' dresses and some bathing necessities. I dashed out of the room in search of the shared bathroom.

I strode in the direction given by Madam Mary the previous night and saw a washroom written on top of a door.

I opened the door and started my normal morning routine without observing the room. After taking my shower, I entered my room to put on the servant's uniform.

Moving out of the servant's quarters, I made my way to the kitchen, thinking of how Madam Mary would be angry with me and disappointed in me.

" Ooh Beaula, how can you be late on your first day at work." I rumbled to myself and began running towards the kitchen, almost knocking off a few servants. Some were giving me a look of disgust.

I just ignored them, because, in this world, not everyone will love and like you for who you are.

I increased my steps when I saw the kitchen from afar.

When I got to the kitchen, the door was already open and I entered. I saw Madam Mary giving the chefs a few instructions in relation to the breakfast they are making for the royal household or families. I made my way toward her and greeted her.

" Good morning Madam Mary, how are you and how was your night?" I was so scared and my body shivered a little from nervousness.

She turned with a motherly smile and replied "Ooh...Beaula, good morning, I'm perfectly fine and my night was great. How are you dear?".

" I'm fine Madam, just that the bed was kind of uncomfortable, but I can't complain. Madam Mary, I'm very sorry for being so late on my first day at work. I promise it will never happen again " I said, trying so hard to hide the trembling in my voice.

she replied, " I hope this will never happen again and I pardon you since you are not used to it and it is your first day. "

"Thank you....thank you so much madam" I was over the moon and happy she was not angry.

" You are welcome dear, so you will be working in the kitchen like I said the previous night. You will serve the food with two other servants. I'm sure you will meet them soon. " she exhaled "You will also do the dishes with the other two servants. But for now, you can start by assisting the chefs. Make sure you observe how they cook. It will help you in the future," she said with seriousness.

" Okay Madam, thank you. I promise to work hard " I uttered

She just nodded.

I started going about my duties in the kitchen. I assisted the chefs to the best of my ability and, since I know the basics of cooking, I didn't find it hard.

The two other servants came to the kitchen after breakfast was made and we started serving the dishes. I was very thankful that I didn't meet any of the royal families since the meal was served before they were called.

The two servants helped me, removed the dirty dishes, and cleaned them as well as the kitchen and the dining area. I was very tired since I'm not used to this kind of work.

" Hi there, the servants are about to eat breakfast, so let's go to the dining area in the servants' quarters. "

I looked in the direction where the voice came from and my eyes fell on a beautiful redheaded lady about my age. She stood about 5'3 with sparkling emerald green eyes. She was a true beauty.

I smiled and replied shyly " Okay, thank you. Let's go then. "

We started our journey to the servant's quarters. I decided to have a small conversation with her.

"Hello, I'm Beaula and, as you already know, I have just joined the royal servants."

" I am Lizzy, I work in the kitchen with you" she giggled and continued "I have been working here for the past 3 years, ever since I lost my family. The Royal family decided to take me in to serve them. " She murmured.

" I'm sorry for your loss", I chipped in

She smiled sadly, saying

" I'm sorry too. I heard what happened to your parents. They were good people."

I just nodded since I didn't want to talk about it.

She continued

" But don't worry, we are friends now and you can be my family. I will introduce you to my other friend. We are like sisters since she also came to the palace for the same reason as us."

We talked more, giggled, and laughed like we have known each other like forever. We entered the dining area at the servant's quarters and I saw a lot of people in their servants' uniforms sitting.

I hit my head mentally because of my stupidity. These people are the servants of the royal family.

Lizzy pulled me towards the right side of the dining table and we sat by another beautiful lady who I recognized as the other servant I worked with in the kitchen.

I smiled at her, to which she returned. She was gorgeous with blonde hair and light blue eyes, she stand about 5'8 just like a model.

" Ruby meet Beaula. As you already know, she came here for the same reason as us, so she is our friend now. She is also joining our little family " said Lizzy in excitement.

" You are welcome to our little family, Beaula. I hope you will adjust properly with us. Also, feel free to ask for our help anytime" said Ruby.

" I surely will," I muttered.

We started eating while we talked and laughed. I asked them to help me pack my things from my previous home. They both nodded in agreement.

We went back to our duties after breakfast. A few servants introduced themselves and welcomed me.

That is how I spent my first day as a servant. I can boldly say I had a great day. I was full of smiles as I went to bed, thanking the moon goddess for having mercy on my innocent soul.
