Helio’s POV “To think that you two would pick on Meri of all people!” my father roared, but there was no real heat in his words. He seemed a bit bothered but not nearly as irate as he had been about my fight with Knox. I winced at the thought of the fight. My face still ached a bit if I moved my jaw wrong, but the cut had healed cleanly thanks to some salve Cole gave me. I regarded my father with a blank stare. Listening to him was one thing, but I was learning to watch him the way I had watched Drake for years. He was on edge, more so than usual. What was bothering him didn’t matter. He was probably still pissed off about what happened with Knox and that the Topraks weren’t yielding to whatever scheme he had brewing. “And now you’re just standing there, not saying a thing?” he snarled.
