Cindra’s POV Later that afternoon, I tried to focus on pretending to do chores, but my mind kept drifting back to the conversation I’d had with Kalinda. She had seemed understanding and supportive. But now, I couldn’t help but question her motives. I hadn’t seen Helio all day, and I still wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing. I couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me since I told Kalinda everything except for the kissing Helio part. My face heated. At least, now that we knew we weren’t cousins, it was easier to justify our attraction to one another. I thought telling someone or talking with anyone would make me feel better, but it didn’t.
