Helio’s POV The phantom echo of Cindra’s scent lingered in my nose as I left her in the library and headed to my father’s office. I braced myself and wished that I’d had a chance to pick Kalinda’s mind before going. I passed Drake in the hallway. The Beta glared at me, and I returned the sharp look before I knocked on the door. “Come in.” My nose twitched at his tone. I pushed the door open and found him lounging in his seat with a tumbler of whiskey in his hand. He lifted the glass in cheers from behind his desk. “Ah, Helios. Come join your old man for a drink. I’ve got a story for you.” I clenched my jaw. Any time he felt the need to tell me a story was trouble, and it meant that there was a good chance this wouldn’t be the opportunity to tell him what I’d learned from Titus. Fuck.
