“Sir?” She whisper yelled.
The man’s eyes flung open, the expression reminding her of a deer in head lights.
“Can you move your legs?” Lexi didn’t know how much time they had before the others came back, that would be a whole headache for her if they returned early. She needed them to start moving out of the cabin now. The guys’ eyes met her desperate ones and she stood there as if star struck. His eyes were a thing of complete beauty. Moss green with a gold rim, eyes that pierced her soul making her feel like she was standing before him naked and vulnerable. A lump rose in her throat and a feeling of warmth filled her entire body.
Confusion washed over his face as he raised his wrists to inspect the chains. The loss of eye contact brought Lexi back to the room and out of her daze.
“Yes, you can look at them later, can you walk?” Lexi’s instincts were screaming at her to get out now.
Danger, she was in danger. Her inner voice in an utterly panic.
The only answer she received was a pained groan.
“Ok. Ok. Ok. Ummmm, I don’t think I can drag him across the jetty”. Lexi took in a deep breath. Resorting to thinking out loud, Lexi continued to scan the empty room for ideas, abandoning the rug, there was no way she could drag him.
Could she roll him? The thought almost made her giggle. Giggling right now was not appropriate, maybe it was the hysteria that was building up inside her gut.
“I can walk, if you help me”. The stranger’s voice came out rough and horse.
The lump in Lexi's throat threatening to cut off her air supply.
“What do you need me to do?" Lexi gathered her last bit of confidence and waited for her instructions.
“Take my shirt off, rip it off quickly." Him starting to sound demanding, surprising Lexi who could only frown.
Blushing, she looked at the Adonis that had rolled onto his back.
“Uuummmmm, you want me to take your shirt off? Is this a joke?” Scanning the room again, she started to doubt whether this was real or someone was setting her up. He wanted her to undress him. Her courage escaping her body.
“No.” The Adonis hiss was unwelcoming. “Does it look like I’m joking?” Clearly a rhetorical question as he continued. “It’s burning me, take it off now."
“Jeez, alright." Lexi quickly kneeled to the side and undone his buttons, the shirt was already slightly shredded so she pulled it from his torso easier than initially expected. “Now what?”
“Help me up." He demanded.
Lexi quickly raised the man’s arms, trying not to stare at his perfectly chiseled chest and abs. Although she did notice that his whole upper torso was suspiciously red. Close to extreme sun burn. The red almost radiated, giving his tanned skin an unnatural glow. For some unknown reason she thought that if she managed to get his chained arms around her neck, then she would be able to pull him up. Time was ticking and she was losing any logic as panic set in. This, of course, was a colossal disaster. With both heavy muscular arms on her neck, she attempted to sit up, only to be met with an unmoving force, making her fall forward into the chest of the Adonis.
“oh…no…sorry…oh ummm…” Lexis hands fumbled over his chest, giving her an electric shock.
She heard a sharp intake of breath as if he was in a tremendous amount of pain. Finally opening her eyes, trying to figure out when she had closed them, she was just inches away from his face. They were breathing in each others oxygen. Her body flat against his, lying on top of him. The knife had dropped from her hand.
Well at least I didn’t stab him. Her thoughts seemed to echo in her mind.
“Just roll and stand up," his orders clear and caused heat to rise to her face.
With effort and a lot of weird painful noises coming from the Adonises perfect mouth, they managed to stand. Him, slightly slumped whilst leaning some of his weight against her, both huffed and puffed, her trying to steady them both. The cool breeze outside the cabin made her shiver as her body covered in a film of sweat. They slowly and steadily moved cross the jetty to her the holiday cabin. Sitting him on the small couch, she ran to the bedroom grabbing the travel first aid kit, switching on the lights as she went. She would need to figure out how to remove the chains that were clearly causing major discomfort. Now they were in the cabin with the lights on, Lexi needed to access the damage. She remembered the blood stains on his torn shirt that they left behind. Running back to the kitchen, she ran some tissue under cold water to place on his burning chest, and a glass of water.
“Um here drink this." Sitting on the coffee table in front of the Adonis, she needed to take a good look at his wounds.
Nervously she sat in from of him. On closer inspection the male looked in rather good condition. Not in a s****l way but in a no apparent injuries kind of way. Confusion swept through her mind. When she had looked over him in the other cabin his face was covered in bruises and she had noticed some wounds on his chest and arms. Now there was no trace of any marks on his face except a small bruise under his eye that seemed to be fading considerably fast. Holding the antiseptic wipes in one hand, water in the other, she gawked at him. She didn’t imagine those wounds. They looked pretty nasty. The more she eyed him the less his skin glowed. The only visible marks were now on his wrists that were blistered and sore. She had a million questions to ask yet she was unable to form any words as they sat there in silence, her roaming her eyes over his magical body and him with his head titled on the back of the couch, eyes closed and breathing heavily. Without Lexi fully realising the Adonis had taken the water, gulped it down and was now eyeing the girl opposite him. He could tell that her brain was going into overdrive, looking at his body? He knew she was looking for the wounds, not his physic, right? Lexi blushed. Her mouth opening and closing like a goldfish. She watched as he raised his eyebrow accessing his current dilemma, his brain figuring out how he managed to get in this situation. His only conclusion: "betrayal."
Lexi broke the tensed silence. “I need to find something to cut the chains, but before, you have to promise me not to kill me.”
She was unable to raise her eyes and look him directly in the eye. She had acted on impulse and now that she was alone with a very imposing man, as the adrenaline left her body. This man could kill her. Yet he sat there quietly observing at her, this unsettling her nerves.
“Don’t bother, I’ll break them soon enough. What kind of i***t breaks into a cabin alone?”. The words played out in her mind, not being able to make sense of them as if her mind jumbled them all up.
His voice hitting her ears like it was her favourite melody, she wanting to hear more. Then they all made sense at once.
“Well that’s rude.” “What do you mean break them soon?” “Who are you?” “How did you end up in the cabin?” “What did you do to those men?” “Why do they want to hurt you” did you do something bad” “Are you bad.” “Are you alright though?” do you need me to call the doctor” “call the police”. “I’ll order an uber and get the police”. “Do you need something else?” “Where are your wounds?” An avalanche of questions fell from her lips; once she started she just couldn’t stop. A tense quiet moment passed between the pair as Lexi heaved in a breath.
By the look of his face and the long sigh that passed his perfect lips he was less than amused.
“I’m a werewolf and they were hunters.” The adonis stated matter of factly.
Lexi's jaw slackened and her lips parted in shock. Her eyes widened and her fists cle ched closed as she pushed to move away.
"Werewolf?"
