Lexi dissected the words. ‘To lure them in...Everything would go to plan’. Her heart ached. She couldn’t believe it. She didn’t want to believe it. The pack used her as bait or maybe they were handing her over.
Whichever it was she became increasingly aware that her monster must be close. The ground rumbled and shook, causing Lexi’s body to vibrate. Fire tore through the Carnival splitting it in two, the tents on one side and the entrance to the carnival from the pack on the other side. She knew instantly she was standing on the wrong side.
Lexi looked at the dancing flames, she stumbled into the middle of the area she was previously sipping wine, it was chaos.Bodies lay all around. Rising her head slightly she saw a familiar set of green eyes through the flames.
