The grandchild
Emelia's POV
I thought I could do this on my own. Raising my son by myself is hard when I know his father never wanted me to have him. I decided to keep my baby obviously, as I could not bare to part with him after feeling him kick the first time in my belly. Luckily I had saved enough to get a one bedroom apartment from working under his family. I know it sounds like a scandal but it was never my intention to use his family at all. I mean the guy was just drop dead handsome. With a chiseled jaw and plump kissable lips, not to mention his smoldering green eyes. The way his 6 ft muscular figure stood over me, in the moment I couldn't help but give in to every s****l demand that day. I mean Who wouldn't want a piece of that giving them attention? I know at the time, I did but boy did that handsome jerk and our brief fling ruin my plans to become a college professor. However right now being a college professor is not on the table because one I got pregnant, two I had to drop out of my master's degree program because I definitely could not handle doing night classes after my shift at the mansion after becoming 8 months pregnant. who knew? Third and finally because I had to use the money I had for college to get an apartment as I could not keep living in the mansion after I started showing at 7 and a half months.
Yeah so back to the topic at hand, I didn't know that taking care of a baby by yourself was so hard. I love him to death don't get me wrong, but my Daniel does not like to sleep at night. He sleeps all morning literally from the time the sun comes up usually 5 a.m until 12 p.m and then he is up the rest of day. He takes a nap about 6 p.m and is right back up at 9 p.m. It has been like that since he was born and he is now 3 months old. His doctor says it's because his internal clock is set that way. It's not too bad I suppose but I know that in 3 more months I have decided that I am going to "drop him off" at the mansion with a typed letter to his jerk of a father.
I made this decision today when I decided that I would be going back to work at the mansion and that my son needs his father or any of his male family in his life, as mine all have passed away. Daniel's grandfather, Ezekiel has always been kind to me and told me I could have 6 months off when I told him that I had a medical emergency to handle. Ezekiel doesn't know that I had his grandson or even that I was pregnant at all, thankfully. I just hope when I take Daniel to the house, he doesn't recognize him as my son. That would be so awkward for me, as I don't want him to think I am after their fortune. Yes they are billionaires, but I just want my son to have the best life and Daniel is identical to his dad, except that Daniel has my round face shape as opposed to his dad's heart shaped face.
When Daniel started babbling, I would say Em and point to myself because I mean I couldn't have him calling me mommy at the mansion and have them discover my little secret. After two months of practice, Daniel just calls me Em whenever he sees me and he thinks it's normal. I am glad because in two weeks, we will be making our return to the mansion. Luckily for us it will be summer time, which means that his dad will be studying somewhere abroad. I pack all of Daniel's stuff which isn't much, a small portable crib, his teddy, 3 months of frozen breast milk, his blanket and two weeks of clothes and diapers as baby boy grows super fast. He is already wearing 9 to 12 month clothing and he is only 6 months old. It's 4 am and it's an hour drive to the mansion from my humble little one bedroom apartment. I get Daniel in the car and head to the mansion where I know things will be different from here on out. We get to the mansion at five like expected and everyone is still sleeping as per usual. So I gather all of Daniel's things and bring him inside and start playing with him in the living room. Before long he falls asleep as his clock is still set the same, much to my delight. I put him in the crib, place the letter on it and go to place the frozen milk in the freezer. Once all that is done, I go to wake up Ezekiel and let him know that he has a grandson downstairs. To my surprise, Ezekiel is already up and was about to head downstairs.
"Good morning, sir, I have news for you. It seems you have a grandson that the mother could no longer afford and he is sleeping downstairs in a crib" I say and think damn I need an award. He just nods his head and walks downstairs with me to check out his grandson. on the outside he seems claim and collected but if I know any better he is a mix of hurt, uncertain if this is an legit grandchild, angry at his sons, and excited. Ezekiel first reads the letter. Then looks at the baby pictures included and then at the sleeping Daniel. He waves me off and I go to start my duties.
Ezekiel POV
I woke up with an uneasy feeling this morning. I didn't know what it was about but it got me up earlier than I normally do. I thought I heard a child's laughter in my sleep but that is probably just the part of me that longs for one of my 7 heirs to finally give me a grandchild. Not that many women have not tried to pawn their children on three of my heirs. Ultimately it came down to the paternity test as those three sons, are the flirts of the heirs. They do a lot more than just flirting too. Sometimes they even have the gall to bring women home to bed them. They are idiots and also the youngest of the heirs. even when I was in my twenties I didn't sleep with as many women as they do. I think it's just bad practice. After tossing and turning for 30 minutes, miserably failing at trying to go back to sleep, I get up. I do my morning stretches, my morning routine, and get dressed. As I am getting ready to head out the door I hear feet outside my door which is weird as most of my staff are sleeping until 7 am usually. I open the door and see it's Emelia. I am shocked to say the least as I didn't expect her to be here so early let alone on her first day back. Looking at her, the first thing I notice is she was become more endowed in her breasts and the second she seems to look really tired. She has bags under her eyes, but her normally round face looks like it has lost a little weight to it, making her cheeks stick out a little more. I am not into women her age but she is definitely a beauty. She has naturally long curly sandy brown hair that reaches her mid back. She has caramel skin and hazel eyes that look so sweet and innocent.
Among all my workers that I have had in my 50 years of life, she is one of my top 20 favorites. I don't show her favoritism much but if she asks for something I give it to her. I see her as I do my own daughters. However, I was not ready for the bombshell she dropped on me. She told me"Good morning, sir, I have news for you. It seems you have a grandson that the mother could no longer afford and he is sleeping downstairs in a crib" I simply nodded my head and proceeded downstairs to see this alleged child. I was having a stir of many emotions in my head but I didn't display it on my face. I felt hurt and angry that one of my heirs knew they possibly had a child and more than likely told the woman to abort it, uncertain if it was even my grandchild and slightly excited to meet this child. To be completely honest, even if this child was not mine I planned to keep him and not look for his parents as I longed to have a baby in my home again. When we got downstairs the first thing I noticed was the sleeping baby with the heart shaped face. The heart shape is what all my children had except for my oldest he got my cone head.
I was instantly feeling more of the excitement and less of the other feelings. I read the note attached to the crib. It read Dear Harris Family,
please take care of Daniel Harris. He was born on November 15th. I have included all of his items and his medical records. He is a big boy compared to his peers and I am certain that comes from your genes. He currently sleeps from 6 am to 12 pm with one nap around 6 pm. He is not allergic to anything yet and he eats lots of food and he only has breast milk twice a day as I have started to wean him off. He takes it when he is getting ready to be laid down for sleep. Other than that he likes to drink water with fruit inside. I will not say who his father is as he told me to abort Daniel and I did not have the heart to kill my child. I did my best to take care of him but I need to focus on building my career right now. After ten years, I will come back for Daniel to be in his life. please allow me this time to get myself together. I know your family has enough people to care for him in that timeframe. If you ever need me you can reach me by email at danielharris@g*******m. I will be honest with how I met his dad and anything else but I will not reveal my identity so please do not ask. thank you. -Daniel's mom
He sat down and waved Emelia off and started looking at the pictures. It was amazing how he instantly knew that Daniel was his grandson, one of his son had a son and told the woman to get rid of it, even though his sons knew he wanted a grandchild. They were really selfish and spoiled little brats. He looked at the pictures for it seemed like hours, even though there were only 6 one for each month. Daniel had an round shaped face, the undeniable family green eyes, the full lips and the button nose. Ezekiel couldn't be happier to have an grandchild and he was going to enjoy every second of it. At first he thought about scolding and finding out who the father was and making him take responsibility. But after looking at Daniel Harris, he just didn't care about scolding anyone, his only thought was loving that baby boy.
Ezekiel knew that Daniel was sleeping but he wanted to hold his in his arms. So he gently picked Daniel up and to his surprise, Daniel stayed asleep as he snuggled him. He took the letter and Daniel upstairs to his bedroom. He laid Daniel on his bed while he reached above the bed and put the letter in the safe behind the portrait. After he put the letter away he happily laid next to Daniel and played in his curly red hair. Not long after, Ezekiel fell asleep holding Daniel. When Ezekiel woke up however, Daniel was not there and he instantly panicked. He called Daniel's name and looked everywhere in his room for him. He ran into his office and used the intercom to ask his workers to find Daniel.
However, none of the workers knew who Daniel was. So they began calling for Daniel along with Ezekiel.
Emelia's POV
As I was cleaning the upstairs bedrooms, I heard Daniel start to cry. I decided to take a break to see what the problem was. Daniel was upset because he didn't have his blanket or teddy. As soon as he saw me he said baba which is his teddy's name. I picked him up off the bed and walked downstairs to get Baba. I am guessing that Ezekiel didn't bother to bring the teddy because he wanted snuggles. I gave Daniel his teddy and went back upstairs. Daniel was crawling around looking at all the new things to explore. I am going to have to ask which room Daniel will be in and ask if I can set it up for him. As I was thinking about that I noticed that it was only 11 a.m and Daniel was up earlier than normal. We went to play outside so Daniel could explore the feel of earth and the beautiful sunshine on his skin. We had been outside for 15 minutes when I heard Ezekiel come on the intercom asking for Daniel. Oh well guess break time is over. I better take Daniel back to Ezekiel before he has a cow. I went inside with Daniel and went straight to Ezekiel's office and heard him having a pity party.
"No need to cry, Ezekiel. I just took Daniel outside to play, because he was crying and said Baba when I opened the door".
Ezekiel POV
"How the hell did I lose a child!!! Is he that advanced he can climb down my bed easily?!!! Oh how cruel and twisted fate is for me to lose my only grandchild and he has never seen my handsome face. Woe is me." Ezekiel said and his son Michael just looked at him like he lost his mind. Then Emelia came in with Daniel in her arms and said something but the only thing Ezekiel caught was Baba. "Who or what is Baba? and how did you know what to do to keep him quiet." She showed me the teddy that Baba written in a heart on the teddy's chest. I made an oh face I saw that thing in his crib but I didn't pay it any mind. I guess I should have. Emelia handed me Daniel and then went back to work. Daniel looked at me, then Michael, then Baba and madea face. Baby babbled than said mum mum and pointed at the apple on the desk. I guess he was hungry so I asked do you want some of the apple and he signed yes please. I must say I am impressed he knows how to sign. I tell him he cannot have the apple and he instantly cries and starts kicking and hitting me. I sit him down on the floor and say that's not nice. I will get you food but that apple is not food. Daniel stops his tantrum and looks at me sideways like he is confused. I grab the apple and open it to show him that it's just a empty piggy bank. He grabs it and still tries to eat it than he hands to make to me. He signs eat please and I take him downstairs and feed him.
Two hours later Emelia asks me which room he will be in to help baby proof it with Narva. I show them the room and tell them what kind of crib I want for him. I tell them it doesn't matter what the room looks like and no budget for his room. I send them with my driver and I tell him to go to a baby boutique or shop. He obliges and boy am I surprised when they get back. These two women were gone for 2 hours and they have spent over $2,000 on baby items. They got him the bed that I wanted and that was not included in the $2,000. The bed alone cost $300 which I complained about the price because I picked it and that it's a small amount for me. I expected the bed alone to cost $1,000 but they said it only cost $300 so I wanted to make sure that they got the right one. When I looked up the bed that I told them to get for sure it was $300 which to me is really cheap. So I looked at everything else that they had and they got a lot of good items I just don't understand why they didn't cost more than what they did. They had got all kinds of decorations for his room that were animals and outside like the forest and rivers. They even had these really adorable elephant lamps for his room as well and they had dressers that were in the shape of a tree, that I thought was cute as well. These two ladies had thought of everything that the baby would need for baby proofing his room and the kitchen and living room area which was wonderful. They instantly started decorating the room while I played with Daniel outside and he seemed to really love the flowers that my late wife had planted a long time ago. She had planted all different kinds of flowers from tulips to Marigold to Blue bonnets. She also played a garden in the back of the house but it was really used these days. When we got back inside it went to check on Daniel's room it had been transformed and Daniel clapped and giggled. The sight of him so happy made my heart swell with happiness.
