Chapter 10

1156 Words
Maddox's POV "Yeah! That is exactly what we are going to do" I say and Lucia nods. "But the dealings with Edgar Lock can be tricky, Alpha. Make sure you have everything on point" Lucia says. "I just want to see how this new lad speaks. I have made few dealings here and there with his father but never Edgar. His reply is witty enough too. I hope we can get along" I say and Russel starts to cry. I watch Lucia hold Russel in her arms, rocking him back and forth. She pushes her finger into his mouth and pulls out a piece of wax crayon. She throws that in the dustbin and coos Russel until he stops crying. "Stop crying, it's okay" Lucia says. "That tasted bad" Russel says as he starts crying again and for the nth time, I am relieved that I am not a father to a kid like Russel. "It's okay. It's okay" Lucia says, rocking him back and forth. "What does Emanuel do?" I ask her but again, her answer is a half smile. Sometimes I just want to barge into her place and see for myself. What that man who was once upon a time a warrior of The RedMoon Pack is doing now. I take care of a little more paperwork, and then walk into the pack. I greet people on my way out and Ajax takes full control. He shifts half way in the air and lands on four paws. With our clothes in his mouth, he starts running faster so we can reach Ian's college before he is done. The wolf run is almost a forty five minutes long run and I shift back before I cross the borders. I deliberately walk in the sun because my clothes are a little wet here and there. Thanks to Ajax's saliva but I am not complaining. He is a wolf so this is inevitable. I walk towards Ian's college as I take in all the places I see. I even saw the Blue note jazz pub. The one I would meet Edgar in three days. And I don't know who I should take with me. I reach Ian's college and everytime I fail to notice the name. And I see Ian and Zelda talk about something with a book in Ian's hand just like the other day. I feel this is time for me to ask Zelda out. If she thinks this is a date, then so be it. I am about to walk towards them but Ophelia stands in the way. I smile at her and she smiles back at me. I still cannot believe she is so understanding about the whole supernatural living. "Good afternoon, Mr. Bohen" she smiles and I almost tell her to call me Maddox but realize I told her but she was compelled. She doesn't remember anything. "Good afternoon, Ophelia" I smile at her and she turns around to look at Zelda. "Do you come everyday for your brother?" She asks me and I look at Ian who is already looking at me. "For a while" I say. "Did we meet yesterday, by any chance?" She asks and I shake my head. "I woke up with a terrible headache and the first name that came to my mind was yours. I don't know what it says" she says and I nod. "Sometimes it just happens like that. We cannot do anything" I say and she nods. "What are you doing this weekend?" She asks and I tilt my head in confusion. I look at Zelda and even though I did not tell her about how I feel yet, I still feel like I am doing wrong by her. But it is also not like I have a choice. Zelda is a tough cookie. She doesn't trust people easily. She wouldn't come out with me even though I ask her everyday for six months in a row. My task is however to get close to Ophelia. Way to Zelda is through her sister. So maybe I can use the weekend to bond with Ophelia and then win Zelda's trust by not breaking her sister's trust. "Nothing" I say and she sighs in relief, followed by a smile that is radiating. "Can we go out? Dinner, maybe?" She asks and I nod. "You picked the day so do I get to pick the place?" I ask her and she nods with a smile. "Then I'll tell you tomorrow. Is that a deal?" I ask her again and she nods with a smile. We both walk towards our siblings who are already eyeing us. I look at Zelda and she has a small smile on her face looking at her sister who is smiling wide. Maybe Ian is right. Way to Zelda is through Ophelia. Zelda and I have this one thing in common. "So, I see you again Maddox" Zelda says. Ian looks at me wide eyed while Ophelia looks at me in confusion and if I am not wrong, a tad bit hurt. "You guys are on a first name basis?" Ian asks and I shrug. "You come here everyday. You might as well bring your wife and kids someday" Zelda says again and Ian chokes trying to contain his laughter. Ophelia being the sweet one she is, quickly gives Ian some water from her bottle while Zelda is looking at us confused. "It's a happy day, Maddox" Ajax starts pulling my leg too and I mentally groan. "I am not married. And I am just twenty eight" I say through gritted teeth. "Why do I keep embarrassing myself every time I am around you? '' Zelda groans and I just glare at her. She quickly notices my glare and throws her puppy eyes hoping they would be enough. Maybe I should start working out. I know I don't love her but consider this a petty crush I have on this girl right now. Zelda slaps me with a different response everytime I think I read her enough. Like now.. who would even ask someone to bring their kids to college? She is bold. She is stupid. She is talkative. She is creative and lives in an imaginary world. She is every different emotion and I love that about her. "I am really sorry. I can make that up to you" she says and I narrow my eyes at her. "You asked me if I can go out with you. Well, okay for once. Just because I seem to insult you every time. I am so sorry" she says and I cannot believe what I am hearing right now. "What?" "I will go out with you. This weekend will be better. I don't have anything to do anyways" she says and through the corner of my eye I see Ophelia. Can I go out with both of them at the same time?
