Heaven Michaels P.O.V
Five years later….
It has been five years since my dad's murder and Giovanni's parents have been true to their word, they helped me move on, took care of me, and treated me as if I were their daughter. Giovanni stuck to his promise too, he was always there to comfort and take care of me, even when I didn't need him too. After going to Harvard and getting my business degree, Giovanni's father offered me a job working for his company, Venezia Enterprises Holdings Inc. Matteo has taught me so many things in this business, I don't know how I will ever be able to repay him. Matteo, Luciana, and especially Giovanni, have helped me not just emotionally, but mentally as well and if it weren't for them I would have been completely lost or God forbid, lying dead in a gutter somewhere. I was really struggling, what with trying to come to terms with everything and grieving, but Luciana took it upon herself to take me to see a therapist.
Every night I had nightmares and the therapist helped me to overcome them, don't get me wrong I still get them from time to time, but I'm used to them now and I don't let them bother me as they did before. My dad's case had been closed and the investigating policemen had declared it as death by robbery, but deep down I knew it was murder. I tried to tell the police, but what could I do when I didn't have any evidence. I shrugged the memories off, I have come a long way since then and I am not going to turn back now.
"Okay everyone, start working on the project and I want it completed before the deadline," I ordered, looking out at my marketing department and getting up from my chair at the head of the conference table.
"Yes, Miss. Micheals." They replied, speaking in unison. They all stood up and one by one left the conference room. I picked up the files which contained the marketing reports and the details of the new project and started to sort through them. I still need to discuss all this with the CEO of the company, who just so happens to be my best friend, Giovanni Venezia. After Matteo retired, he announced Giovanni as the new CEO and me as the new head of marketing. I walked out of the conference room and stepped into the elevator, pushing the button for the top floor to take me to the CEO's office. The elevator began moving and pretty soon it arrived at its destination with a ping as the doors opened. I stepped out of it and walked down the hallway to Giovanni's office, his personal secretary, Natalie was sitting at her desk, talking on the phone to one of the company clients. Natalie was beautiful in her own way, she had shoulder-length brown hair, green eyes, and a slim figure. She saw me approaching and held her finger up, mouthing the word 'meeting' to me, while pointing at Giovanni's office. I nodded, understanding what she was trying to say, and took a seat next to her desk. After the call had ended, Natalie placed the receiver down and turned to face me, giving me a polite smile.
"Hello Heaven, how are you? What brings you here today?" Natalie asked, twirling the pen in her hand.
"Hello Natalie, I need to discuss the new project with Gio, plus it's close to lunchtime and you know very well that we always have lunch together," I replied, as she looked at the clock and realized the time.
"Oh yeah, sorry. How could I forget?" She said, laughing and flicking her head with the pen. We talked about random things for a while and even though we weren't classed as friends, we still got together from time to time. The door to Giovanni's office opened and three men walked out, they were all well dressed in business suits that screamed power. One of the men stopped and looked me up and down before giving me a charming smile and winking at me, but then I heard someone clearing their throat.
"Joseph, I am sure you were heading out now that the meeting is over and by the way, stop staring at my friend, she is off-limits," Giovanni said, his voice deep and visibly angry. Joseph gulped and walked away, keeping his head down and taking big steps towards the elevator. I turned around, rolling my eyes, and saw Giovanni standing in the doorway to his office, tightly gripping the door handle. He was wearing a three-piece, charcoal-colored Armani suit, with a grey shirt, and my God, did he look hot. His chocolate brown hair was messy, probably from constantly running his fingers through it at the meeting, he always does it and it has become a habit for him now. He was glaring at me with those beautiful electric blue eyes, while I was admiring his features and his rough and ready beard. He calls it a fashion beard and I love it, because it makes him look ten times hotter than he already is.
"WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU WEARING, H?" Giovanni roared, looking down at my dress and pulling me into his office.
"Ummm, it is called clothes." I sarcastically replied, which made him groan while shutting the door behind him. I was wearing a professional bodycon dress, which was sleeveless, red in color with a zip up the front and reached my knees, I matched it with a black blazer.
"H, how many times have I asked you to wear a pantsuit in the office? I don't want the men here lusting after my best friend. This dress is hugging your body like a second skin, your legs are visible to every fucker out there, and seriously, did you have to wear f*****g heels. GO AND CHANGE!" He growled, scolding me yet again.
"ARE YOU f*****g INSANE? THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY DRESS! IT'S A PROFESSIONAL DRESS! I AM NOT GOING TO CHANGE IT, BESIDES I DON'T HAVE A SPARE SUIT TO CHANGE INTO!" I yelled back, this had become a daily battle with him, he always scolds me when I wear a skirt or knee-length dress. God knows why?
"Don't worry gorgeous, I have it covered. You never listen to me and this has become a daily routine for us, so just move your sweet ass to the back of my office and go change in my closet. I have got you some pantsuits, go and put one on." Giovanni sternly said while I stomped my feet.
"You're not my f*****g brother, Gio." I snapped, but he just rolled his eyes at me.
"Trust me I know that all too well. Now go and change." Gio said, pointing to his closet.
"I am not changing," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Then I'm not letting you out of my office until you change." Gio snapped, locking the door and grabbing my arm, dragging me to his closet.
Precap: "Don't make me kill him, H." Giovanni growled, with pure anger spread across his face. I have never seen him like this before and it made me flinch as I took a step back.
