Chapter TwoAs soon as Anastasia had helped her mother take their cloaks and personal bags upstairs while the coachman carried up their trunks, she slipped into the drawing room. She wanted to search amongst some magazines, which she knew were lying on a shelf in the Chippendale book cabinet. She vaguely remembered seeing, some weeks ago in the Illustrated London News, a picture of King Maximilian and after glancing through half a dozen back numbers she found what she sought. It was a full-page representation of the King showing him in uniform, wearing innumerable decorations and with a ribbon over his shoulder.
