Chapter 25: Understanding*

“Why do I get the feeling you know who it is?” Theo said
“Because I do, it is Akihiko and he wants to meet me!” Alannah said.
“Please tell me that you are not thinking about it!” Theo said firmly.
“Well, I do want answers about why he left so suddenly and what is he doing here now!” Alannah said.
“Alannah! I thought you had common sense!” Theo said.
“And I do. Look, it is all just a bit weird and I feel like I am playing a game, that I don’t know the rules to. This meeting could provide the answers I need!” Alannah reasoned.
“You do realise this could be a big trap?” Theo said folding his arms.
“Why? Akihiko could have just brought me off Xan, so why go to the trouble of stealing me?” Alannah pointed out.
“Because you are Gang syndicate royalty and more importantly my Daughter,” Theo thought.
“Promise me you are not going to meet him!” Theo said.
“Theo...” Alannah said frustrated.
“Promise me Alannah or I will tell Kurt!” Theo said his eyes narrowing.
“What am I, 6?” Alannah said and Theo just glared.
“Fine, I promise!” Alannah said in a huff.
“Good! Now let’s go and do some training!” Theo said and Alannah smiled.
That night Alannah could not get any sleep, no matter how much she tossed and turned. She had trouble sleeping at the hotel anyway, it was too quiet and warm. Alannah suddenly became homesick and decided to get up.
Alannah quietly put on a t-shirt, cardigan and joggers before going outside. She loved the view from the balcony, especially at night. After about half an hour she felt a warm body next to her.
“What is troubling you?” Kurt asked softly.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” Alannah asked.
“I should be awake if something is troubling my future Queen!” Kurt said as he stroked Alannah’s hair behind her ear.
“Kurt..” Alannah said.
“What? You don’t think I mean it?” Kurt said sounding a little hurt.
“I am a cursed one..it is not in my destiny to be your Queen. Fairytales don’t happen in real life!” Alannah said sadly.
Kurt suddenly grabbed her and pulled her into his body. Alannah found herself staring into those beautiful blue eyes. “Don’t you love me Alannah? Is that the reason you don’t want to be my Queen?” Kurt said in a demanding voice.
“Kurt!” Alannah said.
“Answer the question!” Kurt snapped.
Alannah suddenly saw confusion, fear and hurt in Kurt’s eyes. His face might be solemn and stern, but Kurt’s eyes were always a massive giveaway. To Alannah at least.
“I love you more than anything in this world Kurt. I would die for you in a heartbeat!” Alannah said honestly.
“I don’t want you to die, I want you by my side for the rest of our lives. Why can’t you just stay with me and accept my love?” Kurt said gruffly.
“You are the British syndicate chairman Kurt!” Alannah said.
“I am also a man Alannah. A man who needs a smart, stubborn, beautiful woman who loves me for me. In other words you, Alannah - I need you!” Kurt said.
Alannah was surprised st this declaration, Chairman did not declare their love or needs in this way.
“Is that why you did not tell me you were a Chairman? You wanted to know if I loved you, for you?” Alannah said suddenly.
“Yes. I waited such a long time for you! You have no idea how lonely and tired I have been. I almost gave up hope of finding my soulmate. Then a red-headed woman, with a Nine-Tailed Fox tattoo exploded into my life and I have not been the same since.” Kurt said.
“Tired?” Alannah asked.
“Yes, I normally have severe insomnia, but since sleeping next to you, I can get a full nights rest. Something that has not happened since I was a child.” Kurt admitted.
Kurt was surprised as anyone that this has happened. He had talked to Grace about it.
“She calms you down. In other words, you feel completely safe with her and that lets your mind feel safe enough to relax and sleep” Grace had said.
“Is it normal? I have not experienced it with any other girl!” Kurt had said.
“But we are not talking about a normal girl, are we? We talking about Alannah, the women who would not think twice about dying for you. You must know you two are connected on a much deeper level than your normal partners!” Grace had said.
“I..love her so much Grace. I don’t think I can live without her now!” Kurt said honestly.
“I know you are scared of getting hurt, Kurt. But remember Alannah loved you before you she knew you were a Chairman. The fact that she ran into a group of trained fighters to save you is a testament to that! Grace had said.
Kurt studied Alannah’s face trying to read her emotions. “I have nothing to offer you!” Alannah said suddenly.
“Nothing?! Alannah, I could buy pretty much anything I want in this world. You offer me something I cannot buy, your love. That is the most precious thing to me!” Kurt said sincerely. Kurt was desperately trying to get through to Alannah about how important she was to him. “I love you so much Alannah. I wish you would see how amazing you are!” Kurt said sadly.
Alannah tenderly kissed Kurt’s lips and said “I know you love me, my Little Yorkshire man!”
“Little?” Kurt said with raised eyebrows and Alannah giggled.
“You know it was meant as a term of affection!” Alannah said.
“Shall we go back to bed to sleep?” Kurt said.
“No!” Alannah said.
“No?” Kurt said surprised.
“I need you, Kurt!” Alannah said softly.
“I need you too!” Kurt said as he started to kiss her lips.
Kurt lifted her and carried her to the bedroom. Kurt was determined to worship every inch of her body that night.
Later that morning Kurt and Alannah were woken up by a loud voice.
“Oi, lazy bones! You might be sleeping with the British Syndicate Chairman, but that does not mean you can miss training!” Theo's voice boomed. Alannah and Kurt woke up with a jump.
“Theo!? What the f**k are you doing?” Kurt growled as he put a protective arm around a startled Alannah.
Their lovemaking last night had been on another level. It had been tender and loving, both wanting to explore each other’s bodies and pleasure each other. The results were mind-blowing orgasms and an even stronger bond between them.
“What does it look like? Alannah is late for training and you are late for your meeting with Xan!” Theo said folding his arms glaring.
“Urgh no! I can’t run an extra 10km today Theo, please don’t make me!” Alannah groaned. That was the standard punishment for being late.
“Don’t worry, if you don’t want to do it you won’t have to!” Kurt said.
“What?!? She will bloody do it! She is a Nine-Tails, not some weak arsed businessman!” Theo said.
“Careful how you speak to me, Theo!” Kurt growled.
“Oh, don’t get your knickers in a twist, Chairman! Alannah, you have 15 mins! I will be waiting out here for a cup of coffee. Do not be late, understand?” Theo said.
“Yes, Master!” Alannah said with a bow of submission.
“I am not your Goddam Master! Now get up!” Theo said and he walked out the room and slammed the door behind him.
“s**t!” Alannah said racing to the bathroom to get ready.
“Stop panicking!” Kurt said.
“Every minute I am late, he will add another 1km on. Normally, I could handle it but since the blood iron incident, I still feel weak!” Alannah moaned.
“You want me to have a word with him? I technically outrank him you know!” Kurt shouted as she ran into the en-suite bathroom.
“Yeah, right!” Theo shouted back obviously hearing.
“Shut up Theo! If you hurt her...” Kurt warned.
“Kurt shut up! It is an honour to train with Theo Evans! He is an Evans for God’s sake, they are legends within the fighting world!” Alannah said in a low voice, hoping that Theo would not hear as she tied her hair up in a messy bun.
“See that girl has the right priorities. That is why she is an awesome fighter and a Nine-Tails!” Theo shouted and Alannah blushed.
Kurt growled as he got up and put on some PJ bottoms. He followed Alannah out of the bedroom.
“Here lass, I’ve made you some coffee just the way you like it!”Theo said handing her a travel mug. Alannah took a sip and moaned in pleasure.
“ Cappuccino! Thank you, Theo!” Alannah said gratefully. She did not see Kurt’s face turn dark, but Theo did.
“Why don’t you go downstairs and start warming up? I just want to have a word with Kurt.” Theo said casually.
“OK,” Alannah said and she turned and kissed Kurt.
“Remember, James my second in command is coming this afternoon. I want him to meet you and adore you as I do!” Kurt said.
“Ahh, no pressure then!” Alannah mumbled as she walked out of the penthouse.
Once Alannah was gone, Theo started to talk.
“What is up Kurt? You have got a face like a slapped chicken’s arse!” Theo said.
“It’s you...the coffee and spending time with Alannah!” Kurt growled.
“Yes, she is my Daughter!” Theo pointed out.
“Yes, she is. Are you trying to steal her away from me?” Kurt asked abruptly.
Theo rubbed the back of his neck and said “Kurt, let’s be honest you did not make the best first impression. You broke my Neice’s ankle for a start!”
“So, to punish me for the Grace episode, you are going to take Alannah away from me. Is that it?” Kurt said angrily.
“Kurt, I did not know I had a daughter until a few days ago. I am as new to this as anyone! If I had known...” Theo said sadly.
Kurt suddenly realised that Theo was just trying to be a good Father and he was full of regrets. Theo had seen the scars all over Alannah’s body too.
“I am sure she will be thrilled to find out the legendary Evans is her Dad!” Kurt said softly.
“Don't be jealous Kurt! Anyone with two eyes can see Alannah is completely and utterly in love with you. Even if I wanted to, I doubt Alannah would let me take her away from you!” Theo said.
“You don’t want to take her away?” Kurt said relieved.
“No, you are a different person from when you met Grace. As long as you never hurt my daughter and make her happy, then you have my blessing!” Theo said stretching out his hand.
“Hurt her? Have you seen her fight?” Kurt said taking Theo’s hand and shaking it.
“Ahh, she is a Lioness alright! Good luck with that! Grace is a kitten compared to Alannah!” Theo said with a chuckle.
“I love her Theo, I will treat her like the Queen she is!” Kurt said seriously.
“I know! But, it is now your job to persuade her to come back to the UK with you and give up fighting!” Theo said.
“Any advice?” Kurt said.
“Yeah, don’t bullshit her, an Evans is able can smell it a mile off! Oh, and don’t ever insult, threaten or harm the Nine-Tails. They are her family and she will protect them to the last!” Theo said as he walked out.
“Well, I know that one!” Kurt mumbled as he headed to the shower.
