For the next four years, while he earned his degree in computer science, Galen learned, and practiced, all he needed to know about being a dhampir. He graduated college with honors, much to his mother’s elation—and when it came down to it, his as well, because it meant he had several job offers to choose from.
After some debate, he elected to join a software firm in New Orleans. Lydia was less than thrilled with that idea, since it meant he’d be moving away from her and home, and as she put it, “Potentially to where your father lives.”
“You don’t know that,” Galen protested.
