Chapter 9
That evening the crew of The Phantom sat around the dining table speaking of nothing else but Pete and Toby’s discovery.
“Weren’t you worried about what might have been in the cave?” asked Bird.
Toby shook his head. “Nope. I figured if it was safe for the dolphins, then Pete and I had nothing to worry about.”
“And what exactly did you see there?” asked the Captain. “What are we going to need to take with us tomorrow?”
Pete shook his head. “I didn’t see anythin’ ya’d want. There was nothin’ but ruins and rubble. There were huge metal balls spinnin’ around generatin’ some sort of power. Ya could hear it hummin’. Toby and I reckon that’s what’s keepin’ everythin’ where it is. But good luck tryin’ to get close to one of them. There’s some kind of force field protectin’ them.”
