Nathan
“Where is the white wolf?” I demand. I would rather not be in this pack any longer than I need to. I am not in the best mood, between Brockton's turn for the worse and my wolf acting like a fool. Since we touched down, he has been pacing and whining like a puppy.
Alpha Cameron glances at his beta and gamma, then at me, “White wolf?”
“Yes, Alpha,” I huff. “That is why I am here.”
“Would you like to come in and have something to eat?” A woman, who I assume to be the Luna, steps towards me.
I found it strange that Alpha Cameron hadn’t introduced her. “No, I need to find the white wolf.”
Alpha Cameron seems uncomfortable with that question as the she-wolf looks at Beta Blackburn.
“Aidan, isn’t your sister Yvonne the white wolf,” The female says while Alpha Cameron snarls at her.
“Destiny, go inside,” He orders through gritted teeth.
Salvador had made a strange sound when Destiny mentioned the name Yvonne. ‘What is up with you today?’
“But- “Destiny says, then stomps away.
I look at the pack’s beta, “Is your sister the white wolf?” I say with an air of defeat.
Beta Aidan nods, “Yes.”
“Adopted sister,” the gamma adds.
“Adopted?” I ask.
Beta Aidan nods, “Yes, sir.”
“Take me to her,” I demand.
“Are you sure you don’t want breakfast, sir?” Alpha Cameron states. “I had my omegas make a special meal for you.”
“That wasn’t necessary,” I say. “I don’t have time to dawdle here.”
“Is King Brockton alright?” Alpha Cameron continues his stalling for some reason.
“No, Alpha,” I say with irritation.
“Oh, sorry to hear that,” The alpha sighs. “I pray for this kingdom.”
“Where is the white wolf?” I repeat while wanting to strangle this young alpha.
“She-she’s not here,” Alpha Cameron says with hesitation.
I glance at Mirabel and Leo, who both roll their eyes. “Beta,” I say in my authoritative tone. “Take me to your sister, now.”
Beta Aidan looks at his alpha while straining against my order. He sighs and nods, “I think she is at work.”
“Aidan,” Alpha Cameron barks.
“Is there some reason why you are stalling, Alpha?” I ask.
“No, sir,” the alpha sighs.
“Fine,” I gesture to Beta Blackburn. “Let’s go then.”
Beta Aidan leads me past the house to a garage. Alpha Cameron and Gamma Dylan follow close behind. I am focused on finding this white wolf. I have been dreaming about her for days. Deep down, I have the sneaking suspicion that she is not only Brockton’s lost sister but also my mate.
“Get me a car,” Beta Aidan orders a skinny omega.
The omega nods and trots into the garage. A minute later, a silver Ford Explorer pulled up.
“Come on, sir,” Aidan indicates the vehicle.
“You two stay here,” I tell my bodyguards. “I think I’ll be alight.”
“Okay, if you say so, Nathan,” Mirabel sighs.
I get into the car with Beta Aidan and Alpha Cameron, who fidgets in the back seat. I wonder why he is being so squirrely. He has only been at the job for a few days, but I didn’t think he’d be so nervous. He wasn’t nervous during training.
The ride lasts about ten minutes, and we stop in a strip mall full of shops. The strong scent of baking bread hits me as we get out of the car. I look towards the bakery, and Salvador begins howling again. I must compose myself before following Beta Aidan into the bakery.
The scent of baking bread isn’t the only one, and now I am entirely focused on a sweet floral fragrance that sends Salvador into a frenzy.
“Hello, gentlemen, “A short woman standing at the counter greets us.
“Emmilou,” the beta greets her.
“What can I do for you?” Emmilou looks me up and down, “Who is this?”
“This is Beta Nathan,” Beta Aidan says.
I approach the woman, “I am Royal Beta Nathan Wright, and I am here looking for the white wolf.”
Emmilou shrugs, “I doubt it’s here. This is a bakery.”
“Is my sister working today?” Aidan asks.
“Oh, yeah,” Emmilou nods. “She’s working on the special cake, Alpha Cameron ordered.”
The young alpha shifts on his feet while glaring at the woman.
“I’ll go get Yvonne,” Emmilou says, disappearing into the back.
I watch the young alpha shift on his feet and bite his thumbs. “Are you alright?” I ask.
The floral scent becomes stronger as Emmilou walks out, followed by a beautiful woman wearing a stained apron. I look at her, and a barrage of memories floods my mind. She has the same curly red hair and sparkling green eyes I remember. I was only thirteen when she was taken, but I remember she looked just like her mother.
“Arianna,” I blurt out and stretch my hands out to her. Her eyes widen as she stares at me.
‘Mate,’ Salvador barks.
“Mate,” I say out loud.
Everyone gasps while someone growls. I ignore the growl and step towards Arianna. “It’s really you,” I say. “Arianna,” I reach for her. Not only did I just find Brockton’s lost sister, but she is also my mate.
“My name is Yvonne,” she says while backing away.
