16-Lily
Easter was slow in coming, but I don't think Sean and I had ever been so glad for its arrival. Jane had been spending more time with us recently, and we'd become closer during the tutoring sessions Sean and I were giving her. Allison and the others eventually came around to see the un-stuck-up side of Jane, and had relaxed enough to be on the first name basis with her. I contemplated all of this as we sat in the library, enjoying the hushed voice of silence all over the place. The tall bookshelves towered high above our heads, and books flew around as they resorted them back to their rightful place. We were hiding in the furthest corner of the library, surrounded by forgotten and dusty books. For some reasons the elves hadn't been dusting this area for a while. For whatever the reason was, I was glad. It made me feel more homely, like the library back at the Lahley's manor. As I took in my surroundings something caught Sean's attention, and he quickly pointed it out to me. 'Look -- Over there' Sean pointed to a shelf to our right. There was a line in the dust, where a book had been taken out. Given the wood was gleaming slightly in the sunlight, I reckoned it had been rather recently. Curious now, I stood up and moved closer to the shelf. Sure enough, one of the books was also cleaner, as if someone had wiped the dust off it's spin. I picked up the book. One page of the book had been dog eared, marking it out. Annoyed that anyone would treat a book like this, I scowled. Sean laughed. 'Lil- it's just an inanimate object. Really, it's not such a big deal' I rolled my eyes 'Sean, this is an extremely old book. God knows how many copies exist. This is ruining the book for others' 'It was useful though' Sean said, reading the page randomly 'Look at this-- somebody's been trying to look up the 6 sigils' 'What?' I focused on the page. ::: The ancient wizards were concerned with the making of 6 powerful sigils. They did it anyway to protect our dimension from a dark powerful creature from the empty ::: 'Powerful creature from empty.....' I pondered. 'why would someone be researching that old relic, other than us? Do you think it was for some kind of project?' 'Maybe...' Sean frowned. ' But wouldn't they just take the book out the library if that was the case? Why leave it here' 'Good point' I agreed. 'Which is why I suggest we take it out and see who comes looking for it' Sean chuckled. 'You really are the devil in disguise' Just as we were gathering up our stuffs to leave, we heard voices moving closer. Sean made me pause, listening into the conversation. To our surprise the voices were very familiar. "Don't you heard? Professor Grayson is protecting a Sigil right in this Castle" reinhart was whispering loudly. "He must have known someone was after it, So he found it first before anyone could lay any hand on that" "A stone that is protecting us from other dimensions..." Jane replied. I frowned. Why are they talking about the sigils? It's a long lost treasure, But if Grayson is protecting it, we had to find it and find a way to lift the spell bound to me. Reinhart and Jane rounded the corner, accompanied by their ginger head companion. They had been huddled together as they talked, keeping their heads down. Jane was the first to look up, and blinked when she saw us. She came to an abrupt halt, causing Reinhart and Newt nightingale stop too. Sean grinned at them. "Up to no good? I hope it's against the rules Jane, or you'll have Robert to answer to" Sean joked, Reinhart glared at us. "You Two again!! Keep your nose our of other people's business, will ya?" Reinhart snapped. "Besides we most certainly are not doing anything against the rules" "Oh.." I raised an eyebrow. " Does that mean you wouldn't mind if I went straight to Howell to inform you that you were talking about the sigils" "You two spying for him?" Nightingale gave us a questioned look. "Is that how you get such great grades?" Sean glared. His fury building with each word his sister's friend uttered. "You dare accuse us of using howell to get good grades?. We wouldn't do that! It's against our ethics and won't ever help us in our life. I mean, god forbid we actually have any pure talent. Right? Because Lily is a metal att and I'm a traitor to water atts" "Stop!" Jane interrupted. "It's not like that, you don't-" Newt looked at Jane in amusement. "Jane he is a metal att. What do you expect of him? They would do anything to reach their goals! I mean, he was obviously eavesdropping on u!" Jane turned to Newt with a snarl. "He is also my brother. And I trust both of them with my life. If Sean and Lily says they didn't use Howell to get good grades, then they didn't. Besides, you've seen how much Sean loves the library. He doesn't need anybody's help to get him good grades- he has entire textbooks memorised." I smiled warmly at Jane. I knew we had been on good terms for a while now, but I still couldn't help but keep on expecting her to side with her friends over us. That small trickle of doubt refused to be blocked, putting us constantly on edge when we placed our trust in her. Jane returned the smile. She winked at us as if to reassure us that she wasn't going to turn her back on us. "It's gone!" Reinhart cursed. "The book! I couldn't sworn it was here somewhere..." "Let me see..." Nightingale began searching the bookshelf hurriedly. "But it can't have just disappeared..." Jane laughed quietly, before turning to smirk at us. "Come on, you two. You're the only other people's I've ever seen in this part of the library." "Us" We said simultaneously, putting our hands to our chests, and widened our eyes innocently. Sean chuckled at me. "Who said we knew anything? There are many books in this area of the library." Jane was giving us an 'I-know-exactly-what-you're-doing' look. I couldn't help but let our a quiet sound of amusement at her expression. "You know what, I'll make you a deal." Jane offered. "I'll tell you about what we're researching, and why if you hand over the book." Reinhart and Newt were looking at us in confusion. I smirked at Jane. "I'll take that deal, Just as long as you can give us anything about how to lift a spell from one of those sigils" "Done, we'll tell you once we get any information regarding that matter" Jane held out her hand for the book and handed over the book. "And tell us before you do something ridiculously stupid" Sean warned. She nodded. Jane and her two complaining minions sat at the table we had been working at and beckoned for us to join them. We sat down and motioned for Jane to start talking. It was a bit of a long story. Jane started her tale with the time we had our detention at f*******n woods, Reinhart and us encountered a man in the hood that night, sacrificing the horsefolk. Unfortunately she told Jane and Newt about that. And a small slip from alatar about Grayson was guarding something at peribolus. Alatar refused tell them anything else, But then Christmas happened, and we asked Jane for help creating a portal, She also put a tracking spell on us to learn what we were up to, then she learned more about the Sigils. In other words, She was also trying to help me to not get erased from their minds. "And you two?" Sean asked. "Why are you helping her?" "Jane is our friend" reinhart said. "If she goes down, we go down together" "How long ago did you read this book, Rein- sorry Alicia?" I asked. She frowned at the start of her surname, then bit her lip in thought. "Sometimes before Christmas, why?" Sean, realising my train of thought, answered for me. "Because if the marks in the dusts imply anything. This book was read in the last week or two, and who ever it was marked the page they were reading." Picking up the book, I indicated the marked page. Reinhart scowled in indignation, an echo of my previous emotions upon having found the book. 'See, you shouldn't mark books like that!,' I commented to sean, Even our 'enemy lines' agrees' 'yeah yeah, whatever. You little book worshipers. I have an idea -- you two should start your own little group concerning about book rights and--" 'Sean you know that you'd also hear what I say in those meetings' I said in complete seriousness. Sean paled. 'Never mind!' "Come on, everybody out! Lunch is in ten minutes and then you have an hour until train leaves. Go on-- out out" Alatar, The librarian, called, his loud voice in the silence of the library. We all trailed out, one after another. Before following her friends when we parted ways, Jane grabbed his wrist. "Don't tell anybody about this, Yeah? We don't want anybody to finding out" She warned, We nodded in understanding, miming zipping our lips. She smiled, then turned away to follow her friends. We took a more direct route to the great hall, using some old passage ways that we had discovered during some restless late nights. I had a fleeting idea that we should create a map of the school at some point, but pushed it away for another time. We had a new, more important project that required our full attention at the moment; Someone was trying to steal the Sigil, and we were going to find out who and why. Lizzie, Robert, Mathew and David were waiting at the station when we arrived back from peribolus. By the time we found them, Jane was already there, being smothered in hugs and kisses from Lizzie and Robert. We hesitated for a split second, unsure on whether or not to get in, but soon David took that decision for us. He quickly spotted us and ran over to envelope us in warm hug. Sean laughed, and I grinned. It was good to be back home. We ported to home and Mathew and Robert pushed Jane through the front door. There was a rushing noise from above the heads and I automatically cast a wandless shield in us. Half a heart beat later, a thick slime substance hit us. Or atleast it hit Jane, soacking her in the sticky substance. My shield held around us, though and instead a green puddle formed at our feets. Sean turned to mock glare at Robert and Mathew. The two supposedly 'mature' adults were pouting at u, disappointment dulling their eyes. Then they turned to Jane, and giggled hysterically as she fumbled around blindly, trying to get free of the green sticky substance. A soft cough from Lizzie made everybody freeze. Sean and I laughed when we saw Mathew flinch and Robert stiffens. As one, the mysterious duo turned to face the annoyed Lizzie. She pointed her wand at Jane and recites something. Immediately the mess disappeared, leaving Jane as clean as she had been before she walked through that door. The goo on the floor disappeared as well, revealing the clear marble floors. Having taken care of the mess, Lizzie glowered at her husband and his best friend before grasping their ears and dragging them away, yelling at them about the messy pranks and how inappropriate they were to use after we'd been travelling all day. We ran our trunks up to our rooms, to our surprise, There was an extra bed in the room for me. Now that I remember they did ask me about moving into a separate room during the Christmas break and I said no, so I think they brought a bed inside. We eagerly took part in the dinner conversation, joking about recent events and generally informing Lizzie and Robert about the most recent gossip. When the Easter day dawned we were woken up by an energetic Jane bouncy on the bed, yelling for us to get up and throwing open curtains to make the light stream in. Sean groaned and let out a low snarl, pushing Jane off his bed. Poor Jane rather landed heavily on the floor, groaned as she rubbed her sore limps. "Get up, Get up, Get up" she yelled. "It's easter! We get chocolate and egg hunts and barbecue and--" Sensing Sean was reaching the end of his tether I hit Jane with a silencing spell. 'You awake, Sean?' I asked Sean in a teasing tone. 'I couldn't quite tell if our new alarm clock was competent enough to rousing you from sleep.' 'Shove off, Lily!' Sean moaned. 'The sun is hardly coming up' I smirked and quoted a movie line Jane had got us to watch a while ago. 'The sky's awake, so I'm awake, so we've to play' Sean grunted at that and glared at me. ' it's too early to be quoting films!' 'well, we could spent this time doing something productive, like waking up Robert at this ungodly hour of the morning...' Sean's interest instantly spiked. He was always eager to get back at Robert. He shot out of bed, past a silently pouting Jane, and all but sprinted to Lizzie and Robert's bedroom. Spotting the onsuit bathroom door was open, Sean smirked. He formed a small stream of water in the air, forming a puddle over Robert's head. I cast a shield over Lizzie to prevent her from getting wet. Then, just as Jane Bursts into the room Sean let the water fall, straight onto Robert's face. "Ahh!" Robert screaming, bolting upright as the icy liquid hit his face. "Jane!" Jane, who was still trapped under my silencing spell, widened her eyes in shocked innocence, pointing at us. Sean smirked, not denying the accusation. Robert narrowed his eyes at Sean. "You...You" Lizzie woke up, watching the scene unravel with amusement as she lay on her dry, warm side of the bed. "Aw, come on Rob" David said from where he stood in the doorway. "It's all the same thing, We tried to prank him, so he gets to retaliate." "Huh" Robert pouted. We grinned. What an excellent start to an excellent day!
