Chapter 2

Raquel’s pov

Ever since my twin brother Raphael met his beautiful mate Angelina, I have felt an even stronger longing to finally find my other half. Those two made it all seem so simple and beautiful. Even with all the things they had to face to get to where they are, they were always just happy and so in love.

A curse, and evil dead wizard and a rejection couldn’t stop them from being together and happy, and I just hoped that when I met my mate they would love me as much as my brother and Angelina loved each other. I am not naive I know that it isn’t always perfect, I have heard too many stories of people going through sh.it before they can be with their true mates and it isn’t always the first one you are given. I just know I want that kind of happiness even if it takes a rejection or whatever to be with who is meant for me.

I thought I had hit the jackpot when at my brothers crowning ceremony, I scented my mate, I couldn’t wait to find out who he or she was. When a gorgeous blonde goddess stepped into my path on the way back from the bathroom, I thought that everything would be perfect.

We barely exchanged names before Danielle pounced on me, devouring my lips with her full pink sensual ones. I was sure that I had died and gone to heaven, nothing could have prepared me for the intensity of the tingles I felt all over my body as our hands greedily explored each other, so caught up in it we forgot where we were until I heard the sexiest male voice ever demanding to know what the hell was going on.

He looked like one of the Greek gods in the history books, tall, medium long blonde hair, so light it is almost white and muscles that looked like they were carved out of stone. All the while, Raven is cheering in my head, chanting mate. I was very confused that she felt the mate bond with both of these beautiful wolves. It was then I realised that they were already mated and this alpha male was unhappy that I was caught with his mate, even if I was also his mate.

Raven and I felt a deep sense of hurt when he insisted that we must have used magic or something to trick them. I guess he was just shocked and confused. He wasn’t the only one. This type of thing never happens, so we were all confused. I was happy when Liana managed to confirm that there was no magic affecting our bond, and it was a goddess given one.

Xavier reluctantly agreed to work out whatever this is and stated that we would all be going back to his pack the next day. Although it was what I wanted, I was also very reluctant as I knew he didn’t want me there and was doing it for Danielle’s benefit.

I had to sleep alone in my room that night, as Xavier didn’t want me with them. Hopefully, it won’t take him long to come around as I hardly slept that night on my own as Raven whined all night wanting to be close to her mates. It was torture.

Xavier’s beta Craig was a nice guy and was very happy and welcoming towards me. He seemed to accept it much quicker than my mate did. I was relieved when Xavier sat in the front of the car so the tension coming off of him was as strong.

Danielle, like the burst of sunshine she is cuddled next to me the whole trip, making me feel less nervous and filling me with a sense of peace. It didn’t take long before I fell asleep in her arms, getting some much needed rest finally.

I was jolted awake feeling disoriented when the car stopped in front of a beautiful packhouse. It was obviously much smaller than where I used to live, but it was beautiful and charming, and it felt like home, as if my body knew this was where I was supposed to be.

Quite a few pack members were roaming about the front of the packhouse, and I could see Xavier’s parents standing at the door waiting to greet him. I had met the current alpha and Luna several times, and I liked them both a lot. They cared about their pack and were the perfect example of what an Alpha and Luna should be.

Xavier opened the door for Danielle and helped her out of the car when it became painfully clear that he wasn’t going to accord me the same grace, I opened my door and an embarrassed Craig helped me out of my seat and hurried me along to catch up with my mates.

Danielle offered me a sympathetic smile over her shoulder as we caught up with them, obviously uncomfortable with our mates' actions. I am not sure if she was more embarrassed for me, herself, or both of us.

Alpha Sebastian and Luna Kelly had big smiles on their faces as they hugged their son and daughter in law before noticing that I was with them, and they graced me with a one of their beaming smiles, happy to see me.

“I swear, each time I see you, dear Raquel, you get even more beautiful. I had no idea that you were coming for a visit. Is it an official one?” Luna Kelly asked, her eyes twinkling with happiness and curiosity.

“Mum, Raquel, here is Xavier and I’s mate” Danielle replied to her in excitement.

“Wow, well that is unexpected, but we trust the goddess knows what she is doing. Welcome to the family sweetheart” Alpha Sebastian says, hugging me as Luna Kelly joins in.

“Well we need to organise a welcoming party for Raquel as the future luna. Xavier, you are so lucky to have two beautiful Luna’s to help you when you take over” Luna Kelly declares in happiness, not one bit phased about our unusual bond.

“Mum that won’t be necessary. The pack will meet her in time. I don’t want to shove this unusual bond onto them” Xavier complains looking unhappy.

“Don't be silly, we threw a big party when we mated, so the pack will expect one for Raquel as well. It is best that we do this right, they need a chance to meet and connect with her” Danielle says, as he looks frustrated before his gaze softens as soon as his eyes connect with her, and he let’s out a sigh.

“Let’s discuss this in private, I don’t want to give the pack something to gossip about” Xavier says firmly, giving no room for argument as he walks through the doors.

“Craig will show you your room, dinner is at 7, we will be eating in our private dining room, Craig will come and collect you so you don’t get lost” Xavier says dismissing me.

“But son, surely Raquel should be present for the discussion, this affects her as well” Luna Kelly says while Xavier glares at me in warning.

“Don’t worry, Luna Kelly, it is fine, I could probably do with the rest anyway. I am sure between Xavier and Danielle, they can decide the best way to move forward with this” I say politely, knowing the last place I want to be is somewhere I am not welcome.

“If you are sure dear, I will see you at dinner and please call me Mum, you are part of the family now” she says with a sigh before hugging me and following her pi.ssed off son down the hallway.

“Sorry about that, he will come around, he is just shocked and confused at the whole situation” Craig says awkwardly.

“It’s fine, you don’t have to make up excuses for him, I know he doesn’t like me much at the moment, hopefully that will change with time” I say smiling at him.

We were both quiet as we walked up the three flights of stairs to get to the top floor. The silence only broken a couple of times as Craig pointed out one or two things. When we made it to the room, Craig was yet again looking uncomfortable and apologetic towards me again as he opened the door for me to enter.

“I hope this room is fine for you, if you want to change or need anything just let me know and I can arrange it. Xavier and Danielle’s room is the one directly across from you, and I am sure that soon it will also become your room as well Luna” he says awkwardly.

“The room is perfect, thank you, and please do not call me Luna, it's Raquel, Xavier already has his luna” I say calmly. I am not angry or anything, sad maybe, but I am realistic, and I know that Xavier doesn’t want me as his Luna now or in the future.

My clothes are already in the room and put away, the workers here certainly work fast, so all I do is lay down on the soft bed and get caught up in my own thoughts wondering if this is really worth all the pain that I know is bound to come.
