Savannah cracked her neck side to side to alleviate the kink. She’d been spending her days in the makeshift sick bed her father set up for his men who had been growing sick over the past few days. He explained the symptoms to her. She didn’t have to see them to know they had contracted Eboli. The disease was spreading through the country rapidly, and there wasn’t enough medicine to help them all. There were already four sick men, and two more were showing early signs. She had limited supplies and couldn’t do more than comfort the men as the disease slowly killed them. She asked her father to allow her to travel back to Kinshasa, but reports had come in that the militia was moving, and it wasn’t safe for her to travel.
