Daphne foraged outside in the gardens of Master Ammad. She ate the leaves of lettuce to fill her rumbling stomach.
"What are you doing in my garden, Daphne?" The master saw her.
"I am eating your lettuce," she replied reverently. "Don't worry, I didn't pull out the roots. I just tore the largest leaf from each one."
"Isn't the food in the canteen not appetizing enough for you?"
"Oh, I salivated whenever I go to the canteen. But the other students don't want me there." Daphne shrugged nonchalantly.
