Mates

Alley POV:  "Thank you for carrying me, you didn't have to, I could have pushed the pain aside."  I said not minding that he carried me, then I could really take in his features. He had jet black hair with sky blue eyes, he was naturally tan with high cheekbones and a chiseled jawline . He stood roughly 6'3", towering over me as I stood a mere 5'6". He looked down at me, our eyes connected and it was as if the world around us stopped. My breath hitched at his beauty. I could see so many emotions running through his eyes, the most evident was worry. "What's your name?" I asked trying to get his mind off of whatever concerns he had.        "My name is Stephen, Stephen Quincy. What is your name Princess"? He half smiled and I giggled. "I am no princess handsome, my name is Alley, Alley Spear". I replied, feeling my cheeks grow hot. "You may not think you are a princess but you are my princess". Stephen replied. Before I knew it we were in front of my door with Leia waiting for me impatiently. "Alley I swear by the moon goddess you are going to give me a damn heart attack! What the hell were you thinking?!" I could tell Leia was fuming before she realized I was being held in someone’s arms. She took a step forward and I saw Stephen narrow his eyes at her.        "I'm assuming you're her mate, we will chat later but for now I have her bath ready and I need to get her cleaned up so if you don't mind I can help her from here Sir". She added the Sir at the end feeling his alpha aura. Stephen put me down gently but did not let go of me right away. He looked at Leia before saying "She is in your care. Take care of her while I go chat to Alpha Spear and I expect her to not be hurt any further". I looked up to him to see that he was completely serious "She is my best friend and will take good care of me. We will come down after I clean up okay'? He looked down and smiled warmly at me. Before he handed me over he placed a light kiss on my forehead and then turned around. I let out a breath I didn't realize I had been holding.       "Girl you better spill ASAP" Leia whispered to me as we stepped into my room. I undressed quickly with her help and got into the tub. Leia helped me wash up while I filled her in on everything that had happened. "Alley I know you wanted to protect others but you have to think of yourself as well. You could have been killed!" "I know Leia but who would I be if i did not do my best to protect the members here? Had we not been there, they would have gotten in and hurt the women and children and I was not about to let that happen". I replied.      When I had finished she helped me out of the tub and helped me dry off, even though my wounds had closed I felt utterly sore and had nasty black and blue bruises. I decided to wear pajama pants with a loose fitting shirt, then we went downstairs where everyone was waiting for us, my mate was by my side immediately as I faced my angry brothers and worried father. "Honestly Alley what the f**k? You were supposed to be in that cellar with the rest of the women and children and instead you were fighting?!" Jackson yelled earning a growl from Stephen. "If you hadn't noticed I can handle my damn self thank you very much, I understand you’re upset with me but each of you can get the hell over it. It is my duty to protect them just as it is yours". I snapped back, leaning against Stephen since my leg was still really sore.     My father walked forward inspecting my wounds that had already mostly healed. "I understand that you wanted to protect them but you have to be safe. When I saw you fighting it scared me to death and when you went down injured.." my dad choked up not being able to finish his sentence. "I know dad and I didn't mean to scare anyone. I'm sorry, I just needed to do what was right". No one said a word for a while and I let out a big yawn. "If you guys don't mind I would like to speak to my mate for a minute before I rest for the night." I said. My father and mother bid me goodnight but my brothers came to stand by me, "Hands to yourself Quincy, alpha or not I will kick your ass". Jackson stated. "Jackson shut up and let them talk, I’m sure he will be respectful." Tye commented earning a silent thank you from me. As they headed to their rooms I walked forward to the living room easing down on the couch.     "Come and have a seat please". I told Stephen, he came to sit next to me and I was finally able to face my mate, taken aback by his beauty. "I'm sorry if I worried you, it was not my intention to do so". I stated, my head cast down. He put his hand under my chin and gently lifted it so I could look at him. "I was scared. Scared of losing you before I even got the chance to know you, but when I rounded the corner and saw you fighting I was in awe of you". He replied. I was shocked by his response and he must have known it because he continued, "When you got hurt I went into a rage, I should have stayed by your side even more so had I known you were planning to fight. But as long as I live you will never have to fight again, I promise to protect you." He finished. "I know you will but it is my duty to protect my people at all costs, how about we get some rest and we spend the day together tomorrow?" I offered because truthfully I was exhausted and didn't know how much longer I could stay awake. He simply smiled and walked me to my room opening the door for me and kissing the top of my head before I walked in and closed the door behind me.       When I finally lay down, I took in everything that had happened. We didn't really get to enjoy the ball because of those damned, dirty rogues. Even my dress was shredded when I gave Rose control. Why were they targeting me? I knew rogues killed for power but I was nothing more than an alpha’s daughter, what power could I possibly have for them to only target me? I tried to wrap my brain around it all and hardly remember falling asleep. When I opened my eyes there was a woman standing in front of me.She was beautiful, tall and slender and had honey brown hair that flowed freely. She wore a turquoise dress and had pale skin, I noticed that her eyes weren't one solid color but many different colors. "It is almost time.." She whispered and before I could ask, everything went dark, into a dreamless sleep..    Stephen POV:     After I let her friend take care of her I went to take a quick shower. I tried to get the sight of her hurt out of my head but I couldn't. I shouldn't have left her. I knew I should have brought my beta and delta but I didn't think those damned things would attack tonight of all nights. I let my mind drift to her wolf. Why was she different colors? I'd heard of some being like that but I'd never seen it. It was very rare for it to happen but then again, it was even more rare for an alpha to have a daughter so maybe that was why? I'd have to ask her when the time came. I stepped out of the shower and dressed quickly before meeting her family. When I arrived it was obvious her brothers were pissed. "What the hell was she thinking?! She was supposed to be inside with you and the rest of them." One of them said "I can't force her to do anything and both of you know that." Her mother snapped. When they realized I was in the room they turned to me. Her eldest brother shot a glare at me.       "What were you thinking leaving her!" He yelled, I was not in the mood to deal with his attitude. I let out a growl showing my own frustrations. "How was I supposed to know she would fight? You know her better than I do and still left her." I snapped. He closed his mouth seeing that I was right. "Look man we don't blame you, we didn't think she would actually fight like that." The other one said. He seemed to be more laid back than the eldest. If I had a sister I would probably be overprotective too. "She's strong, I will admit that you both raised her well." I said turning to her parents. Her dad looked upset, rightfully so. A lot had happened in one night and he knew she would have to come home with me, but not tonight, my little mate needed her rest. I felt her before I saw her, my head snapped to the doorway to see my beautiful Alley. She looked a lot better, aside from the bruises on her face and arms. I was at her side in the blink of an eye wrapping an arm around her. "Honestly Alley what the f**k? You were supposed to be in the cellar with the other women and children but instead you were fighting?!" I growled at his tone. I could understand him looking out for her but I didn't like his tone. He snapped his eyes to me, glaring right at me.       Her reply came quick and sharp and pride swelled in my chest. She's even stronger than I realized. Her father came over to inspect her which I didn't mind. I tuned out what was being said to send a mind link to my Beta. "I found her and there was an attack." I said. "You found her?! Who is she? Congrats man! The rogues attacked? Is everyone safe? Is the Luna safe?" I smirked, they've been waiting for a Luna for a while now. "She is Alpha Spear’s daughter, everyone is safe. Little Alley actually fought to protect everyone in the cellar." It went dead silent. "What do you mean she fought? Why would she?" He snapped. I figured that wouldn't sit well but no reason to hide it. "She did it to protect the women and children in the cellar. She's trained with everyone for years, we will catch up on that later, tomorrow I need you to come get her stuff, I would have left tonight but she needs her rest." I said. "Agreed, just let me know when you want me there and I'll get her things." I cut the line before he could say anything else, when I heard she had asked to talk to me. We walked towards the living room and I watched as she gently sat on the couch.       "Come and have a seat please." She whispered. Quietly, I sat down next to her and looked at her. She was even more beautiful than before, up close I could see her in detail, her brown eyes were shining and her hair had been brushed back, she had high cheekbones and smooth skin. "I'm sorry if I worried you, It was not my intention to do so." The last part of her sentence softened into a whisper and she lowered her head. I couldn't stand the thought of her being upset. I gently placed my hand under her chin, lifting it so she could look at me. I could see the emotions in her eyes and little by little it crushed me. "I was scared. Scared of losing you before I even got the chance to know you, but when I rounded the corner and saw you fighting I was in awe of you." I said. I watched as her little almond shaped eyes grew wide. I knew she was surprised, maybe she thought I would be angry with her. I could never be mad at her and I knew it from the moment I laid my eyes on her. "When you got hurt I went into a rage. I should have stayed by your side even more so had I known you were planning to fight. But as long as I live you will never have to fight again. I promise to protect you." and I meant every word of it. If she wanted to train that would be fine but I didn’t want her fighting. "I know you will but it is my duty to protect my people at all costs, how about we get some rest and spend the day together tomorrow?"      I was taken aback by her words. Me not wanting her to fight might be a little harder to accomplish. She was incredibly head strong. I could tell that she was exhausted and didn't want to keep her awake I offered a smile and nodded, we walked to her room in silence and when we got to the door she turned to me and smiled. Yeah, I'm done for. I reached around her, opening her door before I bent down and kissed the top of her head. Her hair smelled like coconuts and a waterfall. I watched her as she walked into her room and closed the door. I spun on my heels heading to the room I stayed in and fell on the bed. The last thought running through my head was her beautiful face before I fell asleep
