Twisting her Fate

Chapter 4

Leilani knocks on the door slightly as she enters. Her heartbeat is so wild that it rings in her own ears. The man at the gate, while huge, wasn’t aggressive at all, he wouldn’t even have to snap his fingers and she would be dead.

She made it this far. Isn’t that a good thing?

The lights are dull in the room, heavily shadowed corners, the curtains are drawn. Five sets of eyes move to the door as she enters.

Leilani raises a timid hand in a wave.

“Hi, I am Leilani, my pack hates me, the alpha and future alpha want me dead, this is as much of the world as I have ever seen and I am scared”

She doesn’t even know what she is saying, she has kept everything in her mind bottled up for so long, in this new setting she doesn’t want to be like that.

The five that have been so scared that they have just been sitting in silence since the moment they arrived till now.

One of the boys opens his arms and Leilani automatically walks toward him.

“My name is Levi, I am the third son born to the beta family when they wanted a girl, one son for position, one son for backup and then I am superfluous, a fact that I was told daily”

Leilani sits beside him on the bed and wraps her arms around him. When has she ever been able to connect with anyone? Another boy sits on the other side of Leilani.

“My name is Arlo, I am alpha blood and have a twin brother that is perfect at everything. They say that parents aren’t meant to pick favorites. My parents didn’t get the memo, they sent me here to die so I won’t stain their good name”

Another boy jumps from the top bunk and lands on the floor smoothly, crouching in front of the group.

“My name is Madden. My father is the alpha of the pack that can’t keep his d*ck in his pants. I am his dirty little secret that my mother kept from him hoping that with my birth she would get the luna position. She actually thought that she could break up a mated pair, even if my father was a wh*re. There is no way he would make anyone else his luna, she didn’t get the position so I just became a burden on her next endeavour of ladder climbing, so both of my parents hate me”

The others soon follow, introducing themselves as they go.

"My name is Hudson and my father was the beta of the pack and he died in battle. My mother found her second chance mate within another pack and left me in my birth pack never to contact me again. My birth pack couldn't be bothered dealing with me. They found another beta blood family to take the place so I was no longer needed, so they sent me here"

"My name is Finlay, my story is much like Levi's except my parents are older. I have two older brothers, one set to take over the pack and one as a just incase. I was an accident that they never meant to have and they treated me as such"

Leilani looks at the people surrounding her, a twinge of joy on her face at all these sad stories. Not that she doesn't feel sympathy, but to have five people that know the pain of loneliness is something that she never expected. Those words that she said without thinking when she walked in, when she couldn’t handle the burden alone anymore, opened up something to uncover the wounds of the past may allow them to heal.

"So we were all sent here to die?"

The boy's faces that are all heavily shadowed, their features cannot be distinguished, their colorings cannot be distinguished, nod their heads.

They have all been fighting their own battle knowing what they are here to do it offers some comfort to know that there are others in the same boat. That there are others just as unwanted and unloved as them. Sometimes misery does need company and then the misery doesn't seem all that bad.

Levi holds Leilani close and the others gather up, joining in a group hug. Emotions that have been burning them alive on the inside sit at the surface.

For a group that has not received much familial love, as soon as the families within the pack reject their own pup, the pack bands together to reject. So they have all been outcasts.

Levi whispers, cheering himself as much as cheering the others on.

"Together we can get through this, this doesn't have to be the end. We can beat the odds"

There is a shrill whistle from the outside and they all glance at each other before separating and walking out the front of the cabin.

Six line up across the front of the cabin, they are slightly disorganized and for such quality blood running through their veins, they don’t have the straight spine or the confidence that one would expect in the situation.

Titan stands at the front, camo pants tucked into military boots, a black tee pulled tightly over his expansive chest, his hair is so dark brown it is almost black, his eyes are the same, piercing black abyss. They assess all the newbies, like he can tell their entire life stories up to this point. The group is standing closer to each other than the usual newbies, showing a sense of camaraderie that is hard to force, so the fact that they have managed it in such a short time is nothing short of a miracle.

Titan’s eyes fall on Leilani once more. Once he got the file of the last minute addition, he thought that this year was going to be the same. As soon as he saw her he knew that it was going to be different, this was the group he has been waiting five years for. A slight smile lifts on the corner of his lips as he looks at her.

Beside Leilani stands Levi. He is the shortest and youngest of the group except for Leilani, but already towers over her petite figure. He has light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes that hold a slight gentleness to them even though inside he is as damaged as the others.

Madden has sandy blonde hair and light blue eyes, his skin is so tanned and it looks like he spends all day in the sun his facial features are the most refined and he is nearly fifteen, so he is the oldest of the group. His pretty boy, relaxed look is in contrast to the devastation that sits just under the surface.

Arlo has deep red hair that is bordering on the side of maroon and the most stunning emerald green eyes. He is the tallest and the startings of the large structure.

Hudson is nearly as pale as Leilani and has dark brown hair. His most striking feature is his vivid blue eyes that are so stunning that it is hard to look away.

Finlay has golden blonde hair that is cut incredibly close to his head and striking silver eyes, he has the strongest facial features, a square jaw that already has a generous amount of stubble growing on it.

The boys all have the beginnings of being handsome men standing either side of the beautiful girl that stands taller than she ever has before, for once in her life she is not alone, she feels that sliver of hope that covers the gaping hole of loneliness that threatens to swallow her whole for the rest of her life, that hope ignites those stormy blue eyes making them indescribable, her childish features that are definitely going to mature well. Her white blonde hair catches the sun giving the impression of an angel, she is the angel of the group, the glue that will hold the broken pieces together until they form something so coherent that they will never be underestimated again.

“My name is Titan, welcome to elite training. I know what you have heard about this place, but here, now I am here to quash all the rumors, you will not die within this place”

Six sets of eyes stare at Titan in surprise.

“We release rumors of such a nature to stop people getting sent on a whim, because they need a little bit of toughening up”

Titan pauses as he meets every set of eyes.

“You six have been sent here because no one cares about your life and death, your family don’t want you, your friends, if you were lucky enough to have them, which most people that walk through these gates were not, your friends don’t care”

Titan stands a little taller and a little prouder as he was once one of them. He was once in the very same position that they are standing in, thinking that his life was over.

“It is only once you hit rock bottom that you can be pulled up into the clouds, you will achieve things you never thought possible, you will see places you never imagined. Don’t get me wrong. You will feel pain like you have never experienced, but this is different. This is pain that you will welcome. This pain will help you better yourself”

Titan looks at the group whose spines have straightened and a fire is starting a slow simmer. All he has to do is stoke it a little and it will become a raging inferno.

“Look around you, this is your family, these are your friends, you will never be alone again, you have each other, together you are going to be the elite group that all that follow will strive to become”
