I tried as much as I could to convey my message with my eyes to Jordan but I think at that moment he wasn't seeing me, I didn't want to be the cause of a fight, it was normal for things like fighting to go on in clubs but I didn't like the idea of being the cause of one.
I quickly did what my mind told me, I ran as quickly as I could to meet Jordan because he was already making his way towards me.
As soon as I got to him I hugged him firmly like I wanted to choke him and kept whispering to him that I was okay and he didn't need to break hell loose, I could tell it was taking everything in him not to storm over to them and make a big scene. Jordan was a brother figure in my life. He has done so much for me as a friend that I appreciate so much. He would do anything for me, and I didn't want to cause him any trouble.
I was able to calm him down and there was no blood spilled.
"Didn't I tell you to stay out of trouble?" he asked as he kissed me on the head, holding me close…"Are you okay?"
" I'm fine, stop worrying, I could have handled that guy real fine Mr. Grumpy," I said and he gave a light chuckle before finally releasing me. I knew what he was going to say next but I didn't give him the chance to as I quickly ran away going back to work. I knew he was going to tell me to stop working but I wasn't having it.
Apart from that crazy incident, I could say the rest of the night went well, well as in still having men flirt and undress me with their eyes but none of them was bold enough to actually touch me. I got a good amount of tips, I haven't even been paid the night but what I had was good enough…I could work here but one certain grumpy guy wouldn't let me and he strictly warned me not to work in another club.
I was excited to get my pay and planned to treat myself to a good meal. After I was paid, I packed my things and was ready to leave.
I met Jordan thanking him for giving me the chance to work and saying sorry for whatever trouble I might have caused but he waved me off saying it was nothing and I was an angel, always. I offered for both of us to go eat together because it was already far past dinner time but he declined the offer saying he still had to finish up some work before closing for the night.
After getting what I'll be eating for dinner I happily joined the bus hoping to get home as soon as possible. By the time I got home, it was already 11:45 p.m. That was really late, but I felt happy like something good was coming my way.
I took out the plate from the kitchen and poured my chicken with enough sauce making myself comfortable. I began to tear into it not caring about anything. Halfway into my food, a call came and I didn't even bother to check the caller I just picked.
I wonder who was calling me by this time of the night.
"Hello?" I asked as I waited for the person on the order end to speak. The person finally spoke and I heard a professional masculine voice speak.
"Miss Katherine Westbrook?" The person asked I didn't recognize the voice and I was beginning to worry, what if?... I quickly stopped myself from thinking about such things.
"Yes." I simply replied.
"You are expected to be at the Vincenzo's mansion tomorrow, eight o clock, don't be late."
Before I could even comprehend what he was talking about, the phone went dead. What does he mean by be at the…I gasped as I suddenly recalled where I heard that name.
It was the name of the place I applied to be a maid. I was hyperventilating, could it be that I was actually getting called for an interview? Could it really be? I was too excited to worry about the fact that he called me so late, I didn't care about the reason, I was just happy I got that call, all I needed was to get the job. Being a maid at the Vincenzo's mansion gave me so many advantages, good pay, a place to stay, and lots of time for school.
I quickly finished up my food took the plate to the kitchen and washed it. I wanted to share this news with someone even if I hadn't gotten the job yet, I needed all the encouragement I could get and for some reason, Anna came to mind. It was late and I didn't even know if she would be awake.
I called Anna and after two rings she picked up. "Are you dying?" That was the first question she asked me and I couldn't help but laugh. "No am not, did I wake you up?" I asked her almost regretting calling her but her comforting voice came through…"I wasn't asleep, I was finishing some work." I could tell she wasn't sleeping because she didn't sound like someone who had just woken up, she sounded tired, yes.
"So what's up? What did you call me tell me?" It was as if she knew I was doubting my decision, she added…" And don't you dare think of telling me nothing because you won't call me by this time for no reason?" Giving a deep sigh I told her about the call and how excited I was to get the call. I told her about my worries and she kept offering kind words that I was going to get the job. By the time we ended the call, I was glad I chose to call her.
For some reason I just couldn't sleep, maybe it was because I was scared of waking late and missing the interview. I just needed to calm down, I didn't want to go to an interview looking like a zombie.
I woke up the next day very early in the morning and was dressed two hours earlier. I just couldn't risk it. By 7:35 am I was already outside the Vincenzo's mansion. I tried to calm my nerves before going to the gate. I stood there and I was sure they already knew someone was standing outside. I finally heard the gate slowly open. My path into great expectations or disappointment.
Taking I deep breath, I stepped in.
