Not quite two years later
“Here’s to our girl.” Shawn raised his champagne glass, holding it over the center of the table. Dressed in a dark suit and tie, he looked more like he should be at the Oscars toasting Harrison Ford rather than in a nice Italian restaurant in the North End, celebrating the upcoming release of Two Men and a Lady.
Ryan and Kayla lifted their glasses.
Ryan looked at her. The candlelight cast a soft glow on his dark hair and in his eyes. “To Kayla, for having the guts to overcome her fear about becoming a famous author.” He smiled at her, his eyes full of love.
Kayla giggled softly, clinking her glass against theirs. “Come on, guys, it’s not that big a deal.” She took a small sip of her champagne.
