Chapter 9 Too Biased

704 Words
Liliana pulled at Yosef and said, "How can you talk to a child like that! Look at how scared Samantha is!" Yosef snorted coldly and said, "She thinks she's all grown up now!" Samantha merely pursed her lips, and did not speak. Liliana pulled Samantha's arm affectionately and asked, "Samantha, how are you doing here?" Samantha felt like her arm was being tangled by a poisonous snake, which was very uncomfortable. She quietly pulled her arm away from Liliana and answered, "I'm fine." Liliana smiled and said, "You have married well. Look at how prestigious the Falcon family is, and how powerful Master Falcon is..." In the past, Samantha would have shown Liliana some respect. But now, Samantha was utterly disgusted by the look on her face. "Marriage? How could Liliana call this act of human trafficking a marriage?!" Samantha thought furiously. She really was impressed by Liliana. Not long ago, Liliana was still sneering at Samantha for being the daughter of a home-wrecker and sarcastically said that she should repay the kindness of Jackson family by raising Samantha. But just now, Liliana was holding Samantha's arm so intimately. How could she be so shameless?! Samantha immediately knew that Liliana had some ulterior motive. She needed Samantha's help. Samantha stared at her and questioned, "Why didn't you arrange for Wynette to marry Master Falcon instead?" There was a hint of mockery in Samantha's tone. The smile on Liliana's face froze. Yosef replied instead, "What are you talking about?! How can an excellent girl like your sister marry that devil!" Samantha's expression changed immediately and exclaimed, "Dad, you're currently in the Falcon' household!" Yosef knew he had just said something wrong. He quickly shut his mouth, glared at Samantha then warned her, "You'd better know your place too!" Liliana interrupted, "That's enough, Yosef! Watch your tone when you speak to Sammie!" Liliana looked at Samantha with a tender look and said, "Sammie, your father is just angry. We had waited for quite a while. You know your father's temper. Forgive him." Samantha finished her meal in less than ten minutes, and it took definitely less than fifteen minutes before she met them. It was indeed a long time for Yosef and Wynette in comparison to the past where she had to appear immediately after a call. Samantha remained unmoved. There was not a single expression on her fair cheeks when she said, "Just say it frankly. Why are you looking for me?" Her voice was soft and gentle but she had kept her tone cold. The smile on Liliana's face disappeared, and she cursed inside, "How dare this little b*tch refuse when given a chance!". At that, Liliana stopped pretending and said frankly, "Since you have entered the Falcon family and survived, it means that you must be quite scheming. Go talk to Master Falcon, and let him help Wynette get in Scrollania College!" Samantha's pupils contracted as she looked at the arrogant Liliana in utter disbelief. Scrollania College was the best high school in the entire Country A. Ordinary people wouldn't be able to enroll at all. They only accepted children from prestigious families. People who graduated there were guaranteed entrance to renowned universities even without taking college examinations. Wynette had always wanted to join Scrollania College, not because she was afraid that she couldn't get into a good university, but because there were a lot of geniuses and talented people there. All of them were the children of the nobility. It would be amazing to make friends among them, and not to mention the most intelligent teachers provided in Scrollania. Apparently, when Liliana and Yosef sent her into the Falcon family, they were paving the way for Wynette. If Samantha was tortured to death by Henderson, then the fund would still help the funding gap of Jackson Pharma. In contrast, if she survived, they would use her as an advantage and have her to help Wynette getting enrolled in Scrollania College... Samantha looked at her father, and at that instant she found the situation hilarious. "How can they be so biased? How can my father be willing to send me to death, just for the sake of Wynette's bright future?" Samantha couldn't understand.
