Chapter Seventy-Nine
“It will be, I’ll figure it out. You need to rest.” I patted her thigh and pushed myself to stand. “I promise you that I’ll figure this out and that I’ll keep you safe.”
“I know you will. I trust you.”
Her trust in me meant so much. That she knew that I would make sure that she was taken care of made warmth flood my chest.
I nodded, drawing the covers up around her. Tucking her into our bed, I pressed a kiss to her forehead before straightening up. “I’m going to take a shower. You should nap, I’ll wake you later.”
“Okay.” She closed her eyes.
I turned away from her, making my way back into the bathroom. Tossing the washcloth into the hamper before I walked over to the shower stall. The room was quiet and despite the very welcome distraction that my mate provided.
