Aftermath

A strong throbbing on his chest, a stabbing on his head, along with the non-stop ringing finally forced him to open his eyes. A groan escaped Rory’s mouth when he felt the dryness inside of it. It had been a long weekend and somehow he had managed to recover a bit after somehow trying to remove the incident from his mind, making it seem a bit like a nightmare. Up until now, he was still unable to comprehend if all that’s happened two days ago was true or just a figment of his imagination because of the accident that he encountered. But now that he was back on the road, driving again, he couldn't help his thoughts from returning to that incident as several images kept creeping in his mind. From the two huge beasts to his dream up to the sudden disappearance of his wound. There was just no way that all of it would be possible to remember how big that scratch was. It bothered him so much that he was barely able to pay much attention around not until he bumped into something sturdy that blocked his way. The impact was so strong that he instantly lost his balance. “s**t!” was all he could say, closing his eyes when he felt himself slowly falling. “Rory!” a voice boomed before he felt a strong grip grabbing hold of his hand. Suddenly he flew back in place, once again hitting that sturdy yet soft body, he suddenly felt dizzy and dreamy, inhaling that amazing mix of that strong musk of cedarwood and chocolate. He felt blood rush to her cheeks the moment he raised his head, seeing those dark, tempting grey eyes looking straight at him, pulling him as if it was some kind of vacuum. “Ma-Maynard!” He swallowed hard, immediately moving away when he realized that he was slumping on him, his face almost burying on his chest. “You okay?” Maynard frowned, trying to look at Rory’s face when he quickly averted his gaze. He could not help but avoid the man’s eyes, still having that rush of adrenaline, suddenly it felt so hot even though the winds were chilly. He’d never actually been that close to a guy, especially someone as good-looking as Maynard. He could not help but end up giddily inside, having had the chance to experience something like that. It took Rory a few moments of fanning and wiping his face before he was able to actually speak. “Yeah, thanks,” he finally says when he looked at him again. Big mistake as he was instantly bombarded by several emotions all at once upon laying eyes on him. His blood seemed to rush all over his body, there was this weird tingling sensation between his legs and just below his stomach, and his heart was pumping double-time, his temperature went higher making him sweat all over. “You sure you’re all right, you’re looking rather pale,” Maynard chuckled, revealing those perfect white teeth that showed some really noticeable yet beautiful canines. Rory swallowed hard suddenly feeling thirsty as hell, watching how Maynard brushed his hair, his biceps showing up the moment it slipped off the sleeves of his nice, well-fitted mint-colored tee’s. It took all his willpower and strength not to look down since he already caught a glimpse of those nicely fitted jeans that showed really nice well-built legs. “Maybe it's because of the weather, it's kind of chilly right now, ain’t it,” he muttered all the while he tried to brush his own messy hair. Maynard could not help but raise a brow as he kept his sweet smile. “Sort of, I think, though you do seem a bit different today,” crossing his arms he move back a bit to take a good look at him. That suddenly made Rory pause. “Really?” “Yeah,” Maynard nodded. “Though I can’t really point what it is,” frowning he made another quick look at him. Rory froze in place when he suddenly leaned towards him, his heart literally skipped a beat when their faces almost touched as he seemed to be looking at something up close. “What?” he could not help but asks when all of a sudden the man started sniffing his neck as if there was something interesting there. Maynard had this long face when he backed away, rubbing his chin while his eyes continued to wander all over his body. “Did you change perfume or something?” The crease on the young man’s brow became more noticeable as his gaze would not move from him. “Huh, No I didn’t, why?” Rory suddenly felt his heart race, panicking at the thought of what might be wrong with him right now. He could not determine himself if it was his shampoo or maybe that new liquid soap that he had bought and had just started using. Maynard had this playful grin on his face as he tilted his head again. “You smell, sort of different.” Rory’s eyes grew wide upon hearing that. “What! Are you serious, do I stink or something?” Without even thinking he started smelling his palms, his breath, and even his underarm in sheer panic. “No, not like that,” Maynard ended up chuckling again, it took him quite some time to settle down before he was able to continue. “What I mean is, you smell nice,” his brow playfully went up and down as he said those words. “Nice?” He mumbled. There was this weird feeling inside of him again like there were little crawling insects inside his stomach all because of those words. Rory’s face was so flush now that he almost looked like he was drunk or had been rubbed with blush-on all over. “Yeah, I mean, you smell fine before but now…” Maynard rubbed the back of his head, trying to think of a good word for it, smirking while he did. “What?” Rory could not help but ask, suddenly confused seeing the man like that. Maynard let out another chuckle. “It’s like there’s this delicious, flowery scent coming out from you,” his voice had this warm, husky tone and the way his eyes looked at him was like they were checking him out. That was when Rory suddenly felt the shame, realizing that he was being baited somehow. “Are you making fun of me or something,” he says trying to at least laugh along. He knew that there was in no way that a completely young and attractive guy like Maynard would actually show interest to a person like him, especially since there wasn’t really anything noteworthy about him, except for the fact that he was a new student and an outsider to boot. Upon realizing that, he just waves him off, instantly recovering from those uncontrollable sensations that he was having a while ago. He decided to just think of it as a playful joke and starts walking past him. “Hey, I’m serious!” Maynard was still chuckling as he chased after him. Rory gave a quick gaze at the guy again, wanting to see if he had this annoying grin, yet all he could see was sincerity and kindness on those sweet smiles on his face as he looked at him. He ended up avoiding those stares again, not wanting to be enthralled and ensnared by those lovely and deep-seated eyes of his, knowing what the price of it would be. He was sure that Maynard was just being friendly towards him, just like the first time he met him. Since from the moment he met the man, he knew that he was a really nice guy from the start, and because of that, he could not put any meaning or malice on what he was doing at that moment.
