Chapter 2

"Is this enough, or do I need to take more of these?" I asked Dee, who was running around my room looking for her lost marble. I blinked a few times when I looked up, her face was set in a frown. She was about to cry. I let go of the stockings and started looking for the little blue marble ball. If I didn't know the significance of that ball I would have probably thought that Deana had something going on in her head but because I do know, all I felt was concern. That marble was the last gift from her grandmother, the blue resembled her grandma eyes. Deana loved her grandma more than her own mother and was heartbroken when she died, so yeah, that marble was pretty special. My eyes caught the little devil sitting cozily between the sheets of my bed, clicking my tongue I quickly snatched it. "Deana, here!" I threw the marble at her and she caught it effortlessly. Relief spread over her face and we continued to pack after that. I wasn't packing many clothes, only one pair of spare change of clothes for necessary times. I had one travel bag and a shimmery cute backpack that had a camera and other necessities. That should be enough for a day. Dee had already told me not to have many expectations because one day won't be enough to search the world. I didn't mind anyway. I was going out and that was enough to set me in an unchangeable good mood. "Should we leave at dawn?" I asked as I fell back on my messed up bed. It was midnight and very chilly. Unconsciously, my hands folded around me to resist the cold air. "Aunt Cecilia wants to have breakfast with you." Dee answered from where she was sitting on the floor. I turned on my side so she could see my face clearly, and pouted. "That's not fair. We will lose -" I counted on my fingers exactly how many hours we will be losing, "- approximately 4 to 5 hours!" "Doesn't matter. This place have nothing interesting to offer anyway. You will be tired of walking on market streets and in the scorching sun your fair skin is sure to develop a tan." "Doesn't matter." I quoted her and rolled my eyes, falling back in my previous position. Usually I was a heavy sleeper, my eyes would feel heavy from tonnes of sleep and I would be grumpy if I didn't get my share of good sleep. But today sleep had gone on a sweet vacation and decided to leave me awake in anticipation of morning. "Dee, I'm very happy." "36." "What?" "36th time you mentioned how happy you are." "Because I am. I don't hate the life I have here, I love it. But I always wondered how it would feel to be around strangers and do whatever I like without having guards watching me as if I will break any moment." "You are precious to your parents, they worry for you all the time." "And I love them for that. Nothing can compare to them." Our conversation ended there and I closed my eyes. My racing heart was hart to tame, so I gave up and embraced the excitement fizzing inside me. I blinked at the window, waiting to catch a glimpse of the rising sun. For the first time I wanted my friend, the moon, to leave it's place for the fiery ball of fire. -------------------- "Momma! I'm going to be late!" I said standing up from my chair. Breakfast felt agonising, I couldn't sit still for so long. Not today! "But you didn't even finish your breakfast, eat all of it and only then you can go!" She reprimanded. I pouted and gathered the sandwich in my hand. I inhaled it in the fastest pace possible and gave smiled with my mouth full and cheeks puffed. Dad grinned at me and momma just looked disappointed. She shook her head and wiped the corners of my mouth with a tissue paper. "Take care of yourself. And keep contacting, if you don't pick up your phone I'm sending guards to get you." "Yes, momma. I understand." "Come back soon, princess. You know I need to see you every once in a while. Be considerate towards me." "Of course, I'll be back before midnight!" I giggled and bounced my way towards the heavy doors of the castle. Dee and Felix were already waiting for me, I turned back to see momma and dad watching me from the window. Dad gave me an encouraging smile and momma just looked worried, I guess mom's are just that cautious when it comes to their child. "We were waiting for an eternity. I almost through you weren't ready to leave this place." "How can that me? I've been waiting for years!" I said taking her hand in mine. Today morning the sun was just perfect to be outside. Dee and Felix looked like perfect pair of twins in their matching blue jeans and white tees, Felix had a black jacket topping his attire while Dee decided to wear a denim jacket. "If you guys were trying to go for a twins outfit then you did a good job." "Eww!" "Say that again!" They both exclaimed at the same time. I laughed and dragged them out where a car was waiting for us. Felix was incharge of driving while Dee and I piled in the back, I immediately connected my phone and played my favourite playlist. "Where are we going first?!" "We will finish the most difficult task first. Let's go to the market place to get everything we can. Your dad is sponsoring us, we don't have a limit." "You want papa to be broke?" I gave her a look at showed how much I hated that idea. Dee laughed awkwardly and placed the black card in my hand. "All yours." "I'll buy you good things. Don't worry!" I smiled again. Felix quietly drove through the empty and filled roads. I didn't want to miss a single thing, so I kept staring out of the window and eventually filmed in the camera. Wind blew from the window which had my hair fly. My cheeks were tired from grinning so much. Dee had started to munch on a snack that she brought along and fed me occasionally. Felix asked for one too but he was very rudely told to focus on driving. Poor boy. "Are we there yet?!" "Almost." I tried to see out from the window, my head stuck out and my hands holding me from falling to my death. I could see many people ahead, so that was the market. It must be very popular since many people were visiting. Felix parked the car a little far and we left our bags in the car, Dee and I excitedly went to different stalls while Felix just tailed along occasionally complaining why ha had to endure all this. "You signed up for this!" Dee replied simply and glared at him to shut up. Most of the times I don't get why Dee always keeps picking fights with her brother, if he ever tried to get back at her in the future, it will be the end of her. An hour or so later I had a total of three filled bags with me and Dee had two, Felix helped us to load them in the trunk of the car and we left the place to see other things. I loved when we were on the road, it felt like I was flying. I had never driven a car but I had travelled in it when I was a child, Papa used to bring me and mom out to nearby places but never out of a particular distance. Now I felt free like a bird. All the restraints I lived with dissolved into nothing, now that I was out.
