Chapter Fourteen
Over the ensuing days, David’s existence becomes less traumatic. With his feet healing, Mylee removes the bindings and gleefully inspects feet with bones reset to keep his toes permanently pointed toward his heels. David will not again walk with any degree of proficiency. Escape from the curious circumstances of Isla Dragonera will not be practicable, even without the vigilance of Heather’s crack guards.
Mylee continues to hand feed, further ingraining supplication. Though confined to the oubliette at night and for many hours during the day, Heather permits David more and more time lounging about the pool. For her captive this means daily release from the frame. And to make him presentable, Heather has given instructions that he is to be bathed!
