Hearing the doorbell, Jeevika went to open the door and was shocked to see Viren standing outside. He was completely drenched in the heavily pouring rain outside.
Viren was astonished to see Jeevika standing there. He didn't knew that the girl he brought, was Jeevika's younger sister as the girl had told him about her sister. She came out from behind Viren and he could see how Jeevika's expression turned to anger with a flicker of relief.
"Hi di." Anya smiled as she wrenched her clothes to remove excess water when she was pulled inside the house by her elder sister. Jeevika ordered Anya to go to her room, change and then go to the bed straight. Anya nodded her head and jogged upstairs.
Viren could feel tension brimming between the two sisters. He saw Jeevika coming towards him and awkwardly stood in front of him. "Come in please. You are soaked in rain." Jeevika requested to which Viren obliged. They both walked in towards the drawing room as Jeevika switched on the lights.
Locking the door behind her, Jeevika asked Viren to have a seat before sitting down herself. "Thank you so much for bringing her back home safe." She expressed her gratitude. Everyone knew that girls aren't safe at night.
"No problem." Viren replied as he placed his elbows on his knees and joined his hands.
"Would you like some coffee or hot chocolate or anything else?" Jeevika asked. She didn't wanted Viren to fall sick.
"No. I don't need anything. In fact I should be going now. It's late." He replied, starting to stand up.
"Please drink something warm or else you will fall sick. You brought Anya home. Let me at least express my gratitude by giving you a warm drink." Jeevika reasoned.
Warmth spread through Viren hearing Jeevika's concern for him. Nodding, he told her that he could have a cup of hot coffee. Jeevika smiled as she got up and left to prepare his coffee.
Viren made himself comfortable on the sofa as he leaned back. The house was very tidy and elegant. It seemed perfect for a family.
After all she's an interior designer.
Jeevika came back with his coffee as she placed the cup on the coffee table along with a plate full of chocolate cookies.
"They smell delicious." Viren spoke, taking a bite of a chocolate cookie. "It's yummy!" He praised as he ate all the four cookies. Jeevika chuckled looking at this side of Viren.
After finishing his coffee, Viren stood up to leave. He gave Jeevika a small smile and thanked her for the midnight meal. He opened the door but before he could step out he turned around and looked at Jeevika. Feeling shy under his gaze, Jeevika lowered her eyes to the ground. Viren took a few steps towards her and their chests were only a few inches away. Jeevika slowly lifted her eyes to see Viren's face coming closer and closer. She averted her eyes towards the side when she felt Viren's hot breath on her ear. She could feel her heart beating at a high rate as well as the heat from his body as they mere inches away.
"Thank you for the coffee."Viren spoke huskily. He moved back and saw blush forming on Jeevika's cheeks. He smiled and traced his steps back. With a final bye, he made his way towards his White Fortuner, opening and getting inside as it was drizzling.
Jeevika closed the door and slumped against it, all flustered and red.
What just happened?
She didn't know what happened but one thing was for sure. Viren also liked her.

The next day, Viren woke up sneezing. Even with him drinking something warm, he managed to catch cold. Thinking about last night, he thought about Jeevika. How she shyed away from him. How she blushed. How she looked so cute in that blue night suit.
"Jeevika..."Viren sighed, smiling. He had freshened up and was staring himself in the mirror."Even her name is beautiful. "
His thoughts were interrupted by his mother who just entered in his room. Viren managed to wipe his smile off before his mother could see.
"I have brought you some ginger tea and butter toast. After finishing this, have your medicines and rest." His mother ordered as she lowered a tray on the table. Viren came and sat beside her on the sofa.
"Mom, you know I can't take leave. I have really important meetings today." Viren said as he ate his breakfast.
"No way I'm listening that. You will take leave. Understood?" His mother scolded. Viren lowered his head, pretending to be upset. Viren's mother felt guilty and allowed him to go only after he would finish his breakfast and take medicines properly. He hugged her and finished his breakfast.
His mother came here after she heard the news of that earthquake. She wanted to make sure if Viren was alright. He lived separately from his mother and father. He always wanted to join the Army but his father never wanted that. He wanted his son to pursue engineering. But Viren rebelled against this and joined Indian Army. Since then, Viren and his father are not on talking terms. But his mother comes sometimes.

Viren was in his cabin. His meeting had finished half an hour before. He was going through the last file for the day. After finishing, He packed his stuff and went out, locking his office behind him.
On the way to home, he had to stop at the clinic to get checked as his mother had ordered. The Doctor examined him and prescribed some medicines for which he went to the pharmacist nearby to get the prescribed medication. Receiving his packet, Viren was paying when he heard someone call him.
"Excuse me" Viren turned around and was shocked to see her. Meera. His fiance. The day before he met Jeevika in Jaipur, his parents finalized Meera and his wedding. They were childhood friends and Viren didn't reject marrying her because he didn't like someone else at that time. But now he met Jeevika.
"Where are you lost Viren?" Meera asked, smiling. Viren shook his head and said nothing. They walked side by side as Meera continued to speak not minding Viren's silence. They went to a nearby restaurant and ordered their food.
"What are you doing here? Is everything alright?" Viren finally broke his silence.
"Yup. Had to get mom's medicines". She answered. Meera again started to talk, with Viren occasionally answering her questions. Their chat was broken by a call on Viren's phone. He excused himself as he picked up the call.
"Hello" Viren answered.
"Hello sir. Can I speak to Mr Viren Vadhera?" Jeevika asked to the person speaking on the other side. She wasn't sure if that was the same Viren but she didn't know his job.
"Yes you are speaking." The person replied. On the phone, she couldn't decipher the voice properly.
"Hello sir, my name is Miss Malhotra. As our boss, Aditya Bhardwaj is going out of India for some days, he needs army security for his safety. His uncle is in Army that told that, Army will give them the protection as the Uncle is going too. His name is Colonel Singhania. So can you please make sure that 2 officers are available?" she inquired.
As Viren didn't knew Jeevika's last name, he didn't knew that he was talking to his Jeevika. "Yes, you can come to my office tomorrow at 12 pm and please bring the information of your boss. You don't have to bring anything about Colonel as I know him. Is that fine with you?"
"Yes sir, will surely reach on time. Thank you" Jeevika replied before cutting the call. She really hoped that it was the same Viren.
Laying back on my chair, she closed her eyes for a few minutes, trying to eliminate stress.
Jeevika suddenly woke up due to the heavy thunderstorm. She didn't realize when she slept. Checking the time, she saw that it was 8 pm.
Shit! It's so late. Dad must be worrying.
She hurriedly packed her belongings and left the cabin after locking it. Going down the stairs she noticed that almost everyone had left excluding the receptionist as she left last. She bid farewell to the receptionist before exiting the office.
Jeevika saw her car, the only car, parked in the parking. She ran towards her car as rain poured heavily. She threw her bag inside before sitting in the driver seat. Putting the keys in ignition, she tried to start the car but it went in vain. She tried few more times but the car didn't start. Deciding to call Sam, she opened her bag to take her phone out but couldn't find it. After searching for three times, she gave up.
I must have left it in my cabin.
Getting out of the car, she rushed towards the office where she saw the receptionist leaving. Jeevika was about to call her when she saw her phone lying on the ground. Thanking God, she rushed back to her car. She had just inserted the car key when someone patted on her shoulder. The sudden gesture made her scream and drop her car keys.
Oh God! It's a kidnapper. He is going to kill me! Do something Jeevika!
With that thought in her mind, she turned around and rammed her elbow hard on the person's face. He sweared in pain.
Yay!
Wasting no time, she tried to run away from him when he held her hand. She was about to hit him again when he called out.
"Jeevika?"
