“Good morning Caine!”
“Did you have a good dream last night?” The woman who was named Charlotte smiled warmly at me.
Even thou I think it’s alright for me without sleeping, in order to not stand out, I just did what a human baby would. Well at least what I think they do, humans are unpredictable, especially younglings!
“Did you miss mother?” Charlotte giggled.
Mother…?
To me, that word have long became foreign.
Back when I was still a young dragon, the dragon who I used to call mother, one day attempted to eat me, in order to strengthen her own power.

Just as the couple finished having breakfast, the butler suddenly walked into the dining room and bowed.
“Master, we have a Peak-Level Fine Grade Measuring Orb in the basement, I have already asked someone to prepare it. Do you want me to bring it out for young master?”
As soon as I heard the two words, Measuring Orb, my face instantly became pale.
“Yes, all aristocratic children have their talent measured after birth, I see no problem in doing the same.” The Earl replied.
Hearing that the butler quickly instructed one of the servants to bring out an Crystal Orb, similar to the one in the palace.
No! I reject having my talent measured!
If they think that I have no talent and mana then wouldn’t they do the same as the previous two humans…? I will just get abandoned again!
I tried voicing my rejection, but no decipherable words could be heard.
“Aha eh aeh!”
“What is the matter Caine…? Are you perhaps afraid? Don’t worry, mother is here.”

At this point, tears had already started to flow down my eyes. The thought of me dinning from starvation is just too pathetic for an ancient dragon. It probably the most pathetic away for a dragon to die!
Plus, I haven’t even lived as a human for long, how can I just die like this.

“Madame, the process will be really quick.” The servant who was in charged of utilizing the orb assured her.
“Alright then, come on Caine. It will be very quick, mother will accompany you.”

As much as I tried to resist, it was ultimately useless. We quickly arrived in front of the orb and my small palm was firmly placed on the surface.
Just like last time, the crystal lit up and some sort of ancient characters appeared on the surface.
The servant in charge of the crystal momentarily started to decipher the meaning of the ancient characters with the guide of a book.

After a while, the servant’s solemn expression transformed into a troubled one.

“Is there something wrong?” Charlotte asked, who was struggling to comfort me.
“From what I just deciphered; it says that Young Master Caine doesn’t have any talents, nor does he possess any mana…”
The room became silent after that.
It’s all over... This is exactly what happened last time, they are going to abandoned me!
Just as I was silently sobbing, Charlotte suddenly sighed and started to gently pat my back.
“Sigh, you must have been frightened right?”
“Don’t worry, mother will never abandon you.”

At this point I was dumbfounded, at this point wouldn’t see be calling be ‘trash’ then abandon me back into the forest?
Why did she say that she will never abandon me?
Charlotte suddenly hug me against her chest and said, “I will never abandon you, Caine.”
This foreign feeling… It’s warm

Why aren’t you abandoning me.
