Ever since Mother returned to working as the part of the City Council, the two couple had been talking more and more about work related stuffs during dinner.
According to Father, the population of high-level monsters in the forest that I visited last time had increased and would soon require another subjection to supress them.
Otherwise if left uncontrolled, traveller and travelling merchants who travel through that route will be endangered. In the worst-case scenario, a boss monster could be born leading to a mass monster invasion against the city.
"So, I have decided, the monster subjugation will be scheduled next week. More than half of the city garrisons will be taking part in it, I will personally lead the subjugation."
Looking at Mother's expression, it's likely that Father had already done this in the past.

Mother continued to glare at Father before biting her lip and ran out of the room.

Before I manage to speak, Father shock his head and said, "It's fine, your Mother just needed sometimes to think over it."
The remaining three of us continued dinner with an awkward and gloomy atmosphere.

Although Father said it was fine, but I'm still worried and so after dinner, I made my way to Mother's room.

"Mother, it's me, Caine."

The door in front of me suddenly opened and Mother came out embracing me. Her eyes were still wet.

I momentarily blanked out without knowing what to say. My eyes became increasingly wet and she continued to embrace me.
For me, the word 'Mother' in the past was nothing more than a taboo. That was until when I met her.
When I first became a human, everyone thought I was a trash and didn't even hesitate to abandon me, but not her.
Even though they say that I have no talents and mana, she still kept me by her side and cared for me when others would simply just abandon me without hesitation.
It was at that time that I experience something new, an foreign feeling that I have never dreamed to ever be able to experience. This feeling kept growing stronger as days go by, I don't want to lose this feeling… I don't want to lose her.
