Prologue
Diana’s POV- I always hated living in the Meadow. Yes it was my home, my birthplace. But because my mate, the one I loved, was not there, I hated. Sometimes I felt jealous of the Lycans and Werewolves. They didn’t know who their mates were until they turned eighteen. But because I am a goddess, I could not only shift from the moment I was born, but I could tell exactly who my mate is. Once he reached ten, I could not help but reach out to him. I wanted to get to know him. We used to run through the Meadow, swimming in the pool, and would sit and talk for hours. I had never met his Lycan, so my wolf was very disappointed about that, she really wanted to meet his Lycan. Even though my mother spent years trying to train me to take over from her one day, I couldn’t see myself being the goddess she wanted me to be without my mate. I wanted him to rule by my side, or I ruled by his side, I didn’t care which. I had planned to run away after I turned seventeen, so I could see and spend time with Elijah. I would have stayed with him forever, after I saw him. But maybe that is my destiny. I am not supposed to be the next goddess, I am supposed to be the next Queen of all beasts. It was something that always plagued me, it truly made me wonder what my path was. My mother is the moon goddess. I don’t think that I am meant to replace her. I don’t think that is my path, even though it is what my mother wanted. But that would never happen, because after I turned fifteen, Victor broke into the Meadow, threw a bag over my head, and dragged me from my home, into the mortal dimension. I screamed for help, but no one came. I tried to fight, but for some reason, I couldn’t shift. I could only assume that I couldn’t shift into my wolf, because I had only ever shifted in the Meadow, never in the mortal realm. Victor had dragged me into his home. I could feel the magic flowing through the walls, I still can. The benefits of being a goddess. I was thrown into a bedroom, and that is the room that I have been in ever since. I haven’t been able to break out. The door was locked, and after I broke the glass window, bars were put on the windows. Victor’s son, Virgil, would come in and torment me sometimes. I was grateful that I was a goddess, my powers protected me from harm, but recently I have begun to feel them fade. I knew I would still have some, but the ones that make me special, the powers to protect myself or the powers of creation, they are fading. It has almost been two years since then. I haven’t shifted into my wolf form, but I have been communicating with her. We didn’t want them to know that I now had my wolf. Her name is Lorna. The abilities of the usual werewolf seemed to evade us. We had been trying to use our mindlinking ability but we were struggling. I could only assume it was because we were still stuck between the two realms or because we weren’t integrated into a pack. Victor told me once what his plans were for me, but in the past year, he seemed to get confused or forget where he was. I assumed that maybe he was getting too old, and was having health problems. So, it was becoming overly clear that he was no longer in charge. It led me to believe that Virgil was now in charge, which was not good in any way. I can feel the evil radiating off of him, right down to his soul. I can sense a small part of him that tries to be good so he can have a mate and children, but he is evil to his core. Tomorrow is Elijah’s birthday, as well as his hybrid twin sister, Elisa. I really hoped I could have been there for his birthday. But hopefully, he can save me before I turn eighteen in a month, then at least we can be together for my birthday. I tried daily to get my mind-link to work, so I could contact Elijah. But I always failed. Every memory I shared with Elijah was the one thing that kept me sane. He is so handsome. The days I watched him, I saw his sister Elisa, and she was a beautiful young woman, she had the beauty of a goddess like me. She is a demi-goddess after all. I was sitting reading a book, trying to think of a way out of this prison, when the door unlocked. I looked at the clock on the wall. Was it really dinner time? I hadn’t noticed that I was beginning to get hungry. That is when I realised that Virgil had entered. He placed a tray of food on the table, with a vindictive smirk on his face, “You get more and more beautiful and sexy every day.” His eyes wandered up and down my body, and I cringed. I hated the way he looked at me. I could smell what he was, and it was evil. Half vampire, a kind that enjoys the hunt and could have explosive fury. But also half lust demon, something so evil that they do not care for others, they only care about what they can take, and because he is a lust demon, he loves everything and anything to do with s*x, usually forceful. I knew I couldn’t run from him, because he loved the thrill of the chase. So, I just sat as still as I could. But when he went to stroke my cheek, I pulled away. His eyes immediately narrowed. I could sense his fury. “The day you turn eighteen, you and I are going to get acquainted with that bed. You will be mine. We will create the most amazing tri-brids. A werewolf goddess, vampire, lust demon hybrid. Then, once my seed is inside you, I will find that Prince you think will save you, and I will kill him. Then I will take that Queen Elisa, as my second mate. I will put my seed in both of you. That is what the future holds for both of us,” he smirked. I couldn’t help the growl that came out when he threatened to kill Elijah. His smirked widened, “I knew you had your wolf back.” He stepped closer to me, and I brought my legs up, making out like I was going to curl up into the foetal position, but I didn’t. I extended my legs. My feet impacted his lower abdomen. The movement stunned him. I stood on my feet growling furiously at him. He was winded, but rose to his feet, as he gasped, “You are a lot stronger than you look. But I mean when I say you and that the Hybrid Queen will be mine, you two are the only ones with the blood of deities coursing through your veins, which makes you the only two that I can have children with.” “I would rather die than bare your child. I would never let you touch me,” I growled. He was furious at me. He raised his hand up, and struck my cheek with the back of his hand, before turning and storming from the room. Slamming and locking the door behind him, while I rubbed my cheek. Lorna was growling, I could feel her need to rip his throat out. I really wish I could let her, but I had no idea where we were, we could get attacked by another species for trespassing on their land. “I can lead us to safety, we should just rip his throat out and be done with it,” Lorna growled, in my mind. “No, I feel like we should wait here. Something in the house has changed. The magic has changed. I don’t think the house can move anymore, which could mean that our mate and his people have already begun to plan a way to get us out of here,” I replied. “Fine, but you and I both know that killing him now is the absolute best option we have,” she said. “I know it will, but we need to be ready to leave when they come to get us, maybe fight our way out if we can,” I responded. “You know we won’t be able to shift,” she whispered. I was puzzled by what she said. She is a white wolf. But that was never a problem in the Meadow. “We are not in the Meadow, remember,” she added. She is right, we aren’t in the Meadow. I remember my mother telling me the story of how Queen Violet, the first white Lycan. Violet used to be a white wolf just like me. I remember that if she shifted in public, then she could have been torn apart by unmated werewolves. Could that really happen to me? Would the curse on white wolves affect me in such a way, even though I am a goddess? “Yes, it would. We may have been born a goddess, but we are losing our powers of creation by being here in the mortal realm. We are becoming more mortal than a goddess, so yes, the curse that affected white wolves would affect us,” she explained. I can understand why she never forced a shift while we have been here. Even though, she has been eager to get out. I smiled, “We should eat something, we will need our energy if they are planning a rescue attempt. We should make something for Elijah. It is his birthday tomorrow.” “I like that idea.” I went to the table, and sat down to eat the food that had been brought in. They, thankfully, never poisoned the food. But I always checked it before eating anything. I really wished I had more things here to be able to create something for Elijah. In the Meadow, on his birthday, I would use my powers of creation to make him something. My idea was that when his eighteenth birthday came, I was going to create a bracelet for him, one with the ancient symbol, for an eternal bond. The very first werewolves used to get a tattoo of it the moment they mated with their fated mates. My powers were waning, so I doubt I would be able to create one using my powers. I wondered if maybe there was a way that I could make it without using my powers. “There is. Use things from around the room, there is plenty in this room,” Lorna smiled. I nodded, and started thinking about what I could use to make a present, while I ate my dinner. Maybe I could cut off some of that leather from the seat over in the corner, and use the knife to engrave the symbol. If they didn’t let me have any leather scraps, they normally would let me have scraps of things so I could make clothes, so I had thread and needles. I could ask for a buckle and some leather, see if they will bring me those things. Usually someone came to check to see if I had eaten my food. That was when I was able to ask for things in the past, or they would ask me. So, I can ask then, hopefully, get what I need. About ten minutes later, the door to the bedroom, which is my prison, was unlocked and opened. A young man walked in. He was nicer than Virgil, but I could tell he was Victor’s son. He had gentle eyes, and smiled softly, “I can take that away. Is there anything else I can get for you?” “Yes. Could I get some leather and a buckle, like a belt buckle,” I said. He nodded, “Can I ask why?” “I want to make myself a bracelet,” I shrugged. He nodded and left the room with my empty dishes. Ten minutes later, he came back in with everything I had asked for, then he left. I spent the rest of the evening making the bracelet for Elijah. I was hoping that he would come for me the day after his birthday. I suspected he would rescue me after his birthday. I know when werewolves and Lycans turn eighteen it is easier for them to pick up the scent of their mates, so he will be able to find me much easier than if he were to try and search for me today. Later that evening, I began to get an incredibly bad headache. It felt like someone was pushing against the barriers that protect my mind, but I didn’t feel threatened by the person pushing against the barriers. These were the same barriers that prevent anyone from mindlinking you. Lorna could feel it too. “Someone is trying to mindlink us,” she said. I agreed, so I opened the mindlink, dropping the barriers that prevent someone mindlinking you. When the connection was made, I could feel a woman in the mindlink. I didn’t know any women in this world, apart from any women involved with holding me captive. Her voice was a faint whisper in the mindlink. “Diana, Diana, can you hear me,” the voice called out. Realisation dawned on me; it was Violet. I recognised her voice from long ago. She was a nice woman, and a great mother to her children and my mate, Elijah. She is also an amazing Queen. I couldn’t help the tears that began to fall. Someone I knew and liked was talking to me. Two years of feeling alone, and now finally I don’t feel so alone. “Violet, is that you,” I asked. “Yes, it is me. We will be coming to get you the day after the twins’ birthday. Everything has been set in motion. Stay strong,” she whispered. “Tell Elijah I can’t wait to see him,” I cried. “I will,” her voice breaking towards the end. That is when the mindlink broke. Neither of us were able to keep the connection together. I feel uplifted now. Even though the tears kept coming. I never realised how alone I truly felt. I had my wolf, I had Lorna, so I never felt alone in the moment. But now, I realised how alone I was. Hearing Violet’s voice in the mindlink, filled me with hope. I finally knew that they were coming to rescue me. I would finally be able to meet Elijah in his world. Feel his real touch, not just the touch of his spirit. I wanted to be with him so badly. Then there is Elijah’s family. I would finally be able to meet every single member of his family. For now, I just have to wait for their rescue. I would fight my way out if I had to, when they came here.
